I have a cat colony too because I feed them. Three years ago the colony was growing too fast. I called "Friends Of Animals" in our home town and was shown how to set up the traps. I caught 14, all were neutered and all were returned safe and sound within a week. Ferals kill other wildlife too, squirrels, chipmucks, rabbits, and yes even birds, lots of bird kills. The colony is downsized to about 9 now. A ferals lifespan isn't more than 3-4 years as far as I can tell. That's my story.
@Aetopus Thanks for being a friend to the cats. By fixing those 14 you saved literally hundreds of thousands of lives! My rescue groups manage hundreds of colonies here in L.A. We are actually going back to this house this weekend to get the last of these cats out. We placed 20 of them in forever homes and have 20 more to go. On a completely different subject, it looks like you have an amazing collection of videos here. I will be back Sunday night to enjoy them. Namaste
It's obvious the gentleman ha a good heart but just doesn't understand, is ignorant of cat's true needs. Or, if he is a true hoarder, and collects cats, that is a mental illness. I mean, I care here about the cats, only, but will not blast this guy for loving kitties. It's obvious he did not set out to take in 50 cats to trash their lives on purpose. He just didn't know. There is a lot of suffering going on there. So sad.
I think it is a very unfair statement to make that this gentleman should face a fine. With all that is going on with the economy and foreclosures, I have a feeling this gentleman might have taken in cats who were left behind by their irresponsible owners. While I am concerned about the kitties, what is going to happen to this gentleman? I mean part of the title of the video is eviction. Is he going to be living out on the streets?
What a fine looking bunch of cats. I hope the shelter in Gardena demonstrates some integrity and compassion by letting volunteers neuter and place these cats. No homeless cat should ever be killed. I think this gentleman should pay to have these cats placed into loving homes. A generous donation or stiff fine on his end should take care of the expenses.
