brad: Please. Amputees "pray" to recover all the time. You never see them heal. The only people who claim "god" healed them are those who either had nothing wrong to begin with or are those with conditions that can go away by themselves or with medical treatments.
For example, many people thought it was a "miracle" that no one died when that plane dropped into the Hudson River - but that does a great disservice to the pilot who did exactly the right thing as a result of his training.

You know nothing about what I know about the "god" of the "bible." I first read the book, cover to cover, when I was thirteen. That was nearly three decades ago.
Interesting that you mention parents... yes, it is usually the case that religious parents force their children to believe as they do. I was lucky enough to not be raised in that manner. I was allowed to learn and think.
