My style of playing!!! He needed a better band to back him....they couldn't keep up with that groove! Vail had to stomp his foot twice as hard to keep tempo! I watched Arsenio's band night after night and they just didn't do it for me! I was watching the night Vail appeared and I had to get my bass out the next morning! LOL!...way before youtube came along! By the way...Victor didn't innovate "double thumbing"....he improved upon it! The props still go to the Father of Funk...Larry Graham!

He doesn't use a "drop D" tuning he is playing a Kubiki Factor bass and the E string actually has two more frets beyond the "nut" (a little bit like some banjos have alternate stops on the top string)
