My parents tried to raise me a Christian, but the bible that they used (the new translation of the holy scriptures) plainly said to shun all of those rejecting the word of god (which would be everyone outside of their denomination of Christianity- to their belief) and the complete lack of tolerance for anyone with a different belief or lifestyle (or even homosexuals who try to serve god without shunning who they are).
