It seems to me that this concerto would be much better without all of the superfluos notes and romantic sentiment that plays a theme several times over without the slightest hint of development until a different theme arises.. ending the piece. I know this is just a small excerpt, but I see lots of problems in the selection played here. and really, what is he saying that is new with this piece?
wow i had posted a comment on another video about finding videos of richard kastle on youtube. Ok, so here is my story. Back in the 90's i was a teen just starting to play the piano, so i had a virgin ear when it came to music. I had attended a concert by richard kastle and loved his compositions and to this day i have been trying to find cd's or the music sheet to his work. He played this work in that concert.
Is Richard Kastle the only pianist in the world who can nonchalently put his sunglasses on and take them off again without missing a note, or even using his hands for that matter? I bet Marc Andre-Hamelin couldn't do that. Nor could Liszt. Or Chopin. RICHARD KASTLE IS THE GREATEST. KASTLE!! KASTLE!! KASTLE!!
Checked out the orchestral work, loved it! However, can't understand why you keep on insisting on accuracy to the score, especially in Liszt. As a performer he took his fair share of licence, and where his own virtuoso music is concerned often didn't give a toss whether performers changed it or not. Hardest notes does not = a good performance, and all this talk simply detracts us from the beauty inherent in this concerto.
It is indeed you who needs therapy because you have denied the majesty and talent of this great pianist. YOU must take therapy for your disease, for it will devour you...in the same way this heavenly music devours our souls.
The Royce Concerto is a seminal masterpiece of more significance than the entirety of all symphonic compositions in the history of Western Classical Art Music. If you disagree with that you are merely jealous of Richard Kastle...I would even say you are infatuated with him which is indeed abnormal.
1:14 and 1:16... This man is so technically adept, he puts on sunglasses in the blink of an eye!

He's actually pretty skinny, he just tries to cover it with hair, a tan, and an expensive wife-beater.
