Due to Ethiopian occupation & Eritrean war, IMAGINE this train was OUT OF SERVICE for more than 30 years.
The tracks were removed to make under ground bunkers for the soldiers.
Most of the train workers died in the war & the very few left behind were dislocatecd all over the world.
But as soon as the war was over, the VERY FEW LIVING OLD TRAIN SERVICE MEN GOT TOGATHER, started COLLECTING & reconstructing the old track lines & RESTART the old idle engine, RESSURECTING the train service.
@DifferentCast1 sicuramente non è un luogo per turismo generico, credo che oramai ci possa solo andare chi ama incontrare uccelli migratori e stanziali lungo la costa oppure fare immersioni in un mare poco sfruttato, per il resto non ci sono infrastrutture adeguate e della città è rimasto ben poco con la lunga guerra...peccato e condivido il problema del caldo ma anche delle tante zanzare...però alla fine io sono stato bene in Eritrea in tutti i luoghi che mi è stato permesso di visitare...
