  • i was there

  • Kansas does not lead the football series

  • Mike Kelly is awesome

  • this rivalry is good cause it goes all the way back to the civil war, and not its a basketball and football thing. seeing what its like when they play and how everyone gets so pumped and crazy is like nothing else

  • Correction: Before the Civil War.

  • i just meant the civil war cause that was the start of the height of the intensity of the rivalry

  • I don't think people around the country understand what a huge rivalry this is. ESPN shoves Duke/UNC, Michigan/OSU, Yanks/Sox down everybody's throat ad nauseum, but MU/KU is right up there as one of the most heated rivalries in the country.

  • Except the Duke/Carolina Yankees/Sox and Michigan/OSU rivalries are at least for the most part competitive EVERY YEAR. Not the case for KU/MU KU leads by over 70 games in basketball head to head

  • yeah but its still a huge rivalry

  • I agree. You can't deny the history of this rivalry. Soooo much hate. Two universities/states that love to hate eachother. Even though KU may win more games in bball and mizzou may win more of football, its still the best rivalry in the country if you ask me. Plus, anything goes with KU vs. MU, mu always seems to upset ku somehow even though they might be having a crappy year. Maybe the networks/media want to stay away from the political/racial undertones of the rivalry? thoughts?

  • uhh id say that the networks dont cover it because it doesnt have that flash of national star power cause its just about the border and all the hate everyone has. and the fact that its not on one of the coasts

  • I think if you're going to say there is a rivalry in sports between the two schools, the one that makes it a little more of a rivalry is football.. I believe Kansas leads the series by ONE game.. That's pretty awesome for a series that is so old. Born and raised a Kansas Jayhawk fan, now I get the student experience of being a Jayhawk in this rivalry and it's awesome. Rock Chalk

  • @begley9 no mizzou is leading that series that's cause you guys had a recruiting violation stripping all the wins in that season away from you

  • Basketball isn't even close, not just when Phog Allen was here, but still is. That's according to mizzou record books, unfortunately Kansas and NCAA record books have the series in favor of Kansas. One game is one game, even if it was tied, it's still amazing.

  • But in everything else Mizzou destroys your team like in baseball

  • Cause it's baseball? haha wow, way to resort to baseball!

  • @vanfar15 um KU sweeped mu this year in baseball..and finished higher in standings...dip...face it MU does not compete on a national scale in any of the 3 real sports(the only 3 any1 cares about) bball, fball and baseball.

  • Actually, it's disputed who leads the football series. In 1960 Kansas won the game but used an inelligible player so they had to forfeit, but KU records call it a win while Missouri records say that they won it. That means the series is either tied or Kansas leads by one, depending on who you talk to.

  • Everyone knows that it's a disputed record. But according the the NCAA and Kansas we're leading. Either way it's one game. Doesn't really diminish the rivalry. I think that kind of adds to the rivalry. I don't know if you've been to one of the games in Kansas City for the border war, but damn it's fun. Has there been a game in the last 3 years that hasn't been awesome? Sucks for us Kansas people that we've lost two, but still a good time.

  • @StopSpe There is no dispute. The NCAA and the conference both give the victory to Missouri. The only ones arguing about it are KU fans.

  • @begley9 suck cock gay hawk

  • Very original, bro.. You're cool man! Also, Kansas has won 8 of the last 9 in basketball @mizzouman5412

  • The Yankees have won way more championships the the BoSox.

  • more recently the games have been great every time out. those 70 were mostly from back when phog was there. nowadays its one of the best in sports

  • @curlyfry197 I agree 100%, im pretty sure that network hates The state of Missouri, Chiefs, Royals, Tigers, etc....

  • @141nw21strd totaly agree they are always putting us down but sports in missouri are greatly improving aspecially mizzou in football and basketball also the chiefs i think will make a big step forward and so are the royals but they only talk about big name teams and repeat the same subject over and over

  • @curlyfry197 how is this a rivarly????? i mean head to head KU leads by like 75 games....and for competing on a national scale...Ku 13 final 4's/ 3 national championships/ numerous big7,big8 and big 12 titles( not to mention 6 straight current titles).....so lets get to MU...ummmmm....2 elite 8's.........mu just has wishful thinking that there is a rivarly.

  • @imortality1995 wow dude... this is the 2nd oldest rivalry in the nation idk what your talking about this is one the most heated rivalry games of the year. Get some knowledge.

  • @jayhawkhater it is only a rivarly to mu fans because they think they rival Ku...they dont, real Ku fans only care about texas, oklahoma, okla st...reason they all 3 have made it to a final 4 at one time...all 3 have won or shared a big 12 title in the last 14 years....KU has beaten Mu by an avr of like 15 pts over the last 6 years..thats not a rivarly...but being an MU fan u got to kling on to any winner u can..like saying KU is your rival...tell me how do u rival KU on a national scale?

  • @jayhawkhater u should change your name to cyclonehater or wildcathater..because like MU..those two schools have never done anything on a national scale...you will never see a KU fan w/ a screenname of tigerhater...because real Ku fans dont give u guys a second thought... maybe might see longhornhater because Texas has been rivalring Ku in the big 12 and on a national scale...in bball....

  • @curlyfry197 the difference is of all those 3 rivalrys youve mentioned...there isnt a 60+ game gap between those 3 rivarlys...also duke/unc/michigan/osu have all been two multiple final 4's, as Ku has also... they all have national championships like KU does..........So how do you measure MU with these schools?....maybe if MU can win the next 20 games vs KU and make a couple final 4 apperances then maybe we could talk about this being a respected national rivarly...........

  • @imortality1995 Until then its just wishful thinkng Mu fans trying to cling on to their big brother Kansas.........

  • @imortality1995 for not being a rivalry you sure have spent a lot of time making comments on this video....

  • @curlyfry197 wow how original..........KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • @imortality1995 KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • @imortality1995 If its a rivalry or not doesn't matter, what's funny is how you dumb donks yap your mouths and then get bitch slapped in Columbia. Beating ku is like the mouthy kid who thinks he's bad in the neighborhood getting punched in the face, and everyone laughs at him as he runs home with a bloody nose and a temper tantrum. Zaire Taylor popped you a good one, and it was funny, rivalry or not.

  • @jcdixon97 oooooK...really dont know what the hell your blabging on about , expecially since Ku has beaten Mu by an aver of 16 pts the last 10 games in lawrence or columbia....soooooo Mu is the one with the bloody nose..? oooook at least you recognize it is not a rivalry......

  • @imortality1995 so? C'mon Morty, Mizzou winning this game was funny as hell, especially coming from 30 points down or something. I think Morningstar must have been sober this game, he didn't look like his usual self.

  • @jcdixon97 and then MU thought they were bad ass and got their asses kicked out the door by 25 the next game.

  • @jayhawksrock1 Yeah, but no one was saying MU was going to clobber Ku in Lawrence. You donks talk shit all the time and end up with your foot in your beak. And it's funny. I dont hate ku, I find them amusing.

  • @jayhawksrock1 Hahaha I just looked at your home page. Basketball was not invented in Kansas. Naismith created it in Springfield, Mass well before he was ever at KU. The original 13 rules were developed in Mass. leagues and games were played in the northeast, it was even named basketball before Naismith ever went to ku. Foot in beak, again.

  • I guess if all Mizzou had going for them was basketball, and they lost... I guess I'd be on KU videos commenting like it's the end of the world, too.... lol. Fortunately for Mizzou, they dominate in all other sports and still find a way to beat KU in basketball once a year or so despite the fact our coach, recruiting, and players aren't up to their level. Oh yeah, Northern Iowa. Thanks.

  • Mike Kelly had just returned after getting a pretty serious surgery I believe it was his first game back a little earlier than he was supposed to be. He is very passionate about the games. I'm sure he was told to be as calm as possible.

  • Bob Davis does a great job of calling KU games. He makes it exciting and still does get excited for the other teams.

  • Bob Davis is a horrible announcer. As a Royals fan, I can't stand listening to him getting excited about someone crushing the ball that ends up being fly ball not even to the warning track. He acts like any ball hit to the outfield in the air is a likely home run. And maybe its just me, but I can't stand listening to his ku broadcasts.

  • does anyone know that Mike Kelly was in the hospital the same week the game was!!

he probably wasn't feeling good.... Trust me Mike Kelly gets passionate!

  • I'm not saying that Bob Davis is a better announcer. I love Mike Kelly. I can't imagine Mizzou sports without Mike Kelly. But as a Royals fan also, Bob Davis is a very passionate announcer. I agree, Mike just wanted to sound like they've been there before. Plus, Mike was just coming off of surgery not even a week before. I love Mike Kelly and I'll take him over any announcer anyday and that includes Bob Davis.

  • Mike Kelly is a great announcer. Perhaps he wanted to sound as if this was not the first time MU had beaten KU. Unlike many MU fans who act like every win against KU is a national championship. I want to beat KU as much as anyone but lets start acting like we've been there before. I'd take Mike over Bob anyday...the guy is terribly annoying to listen to. (watch a Royals game sometime)

  • Every win MU has over KU is a national championship, and vice versa. It's a border war, and you should know, no matter which team is ranked what, it is still huge to boast you beat the other team that year. As I've said in other posts, WE HATE EACH OTHER. Doesn't go away no matter what, so that is why shit is announced that way when these two teams play. Of course, both teams have been there before, but it doesn't change the excitement.

  • For once, I'll agree with a KU fan, Bob Davis is a very passionate announcer.

  • Nothing compared to Bob Davis!

  • real enthusiastic

  • Big Mizz fan. Wonder why Mike Kelly was not that excited. FIGHT TIGERS!

  • @alman666 i think he had recently come back from some sort of surgery and was told to take it easy.

  • I thought the same thing...he said that with literally no emotion

  • Being a professional radio announcer he is supposed to be unbiased and report the game.

  • MIZ-ZOU i guarantee a sweet 16 run if not deeper

  • GO MIZZOU
