I've been a huge Charlie Daniels fan for years. I love his old stuff. Like Trudy. I got a bit disappointed with him when he started pushing his Christian ideals. I am a a Christian. And not just a goin' to church one. I do it on my own. Just like Charlie used to do it as a musician. He needs to quit preaching. He should just be believing. And keep giving us his great music.
charlie daniels gets no where near the credit he deserves for being one of the greatest artists of all time.. this song is just one of many examples of just how awesome he is.
my grandmas name was trudy i called her mimi tho she taught me everything there was to shoot to fish to do everything i stayed up there more than at home.. just a good loving women she died right before i started my 7th grade year looking back now going to be a junior. i would not be the same person. i know shes in a better place. she was my other half. RIP mimi- aka trudy love you:)

My dad had "Fire On The Mountain" on vinyl. When I was just teeny I would always pull that album out of his collection and ask him to play this song. As soon as it was over I'd tell him "Play it again!!!" I lost my dad to cancer almost six years ago and when my sister and I were going through his records I told her that I had to have "Fire On The Mountain" because of the memories it carries for me. =)
I thought this song was on the album "Fire on the Mountain" which is a classic Southern Rock album? Just asking, love this song! And Barefoot Jerry and CDB!
@Harryn58 You are correct ... I've edited the info above. Trudy actually was originally released on Charlie's debut album, but this version is the Fire on the Mountain one.
@Harryn58 Can someone post the original version? Or anything from the first 2 albums? The version of "revelations" from vinyl is too quiet and scratchy
VERY underated "ROCK" artist. Sure he get's deserved credit for his country style, but nobody acknowledges his contributions to rock music. This song and 'Cabalo Diablo' were years ahead of their time. Only Steppenwolf and perhaps Mountain could match this. Anyone agree?
I sure as hell do . There was just a thread on the Allman Brothers site dedicated to under-apreciated blues rock bands . CDB was the first one that came to mind for me . Fire On The Mountain would be one of the albums I'd grab if my house caught on fire .
@squabs217 I hear ya' man. I've never been much of a Country or Southern Rock fan, but I've always loved CDB. They are about the only country artists who could play Rock and "get away with it". Oh yeah, and Chuck Berry is better than Elvis; I still like Elvis though. lol
@sirroxalot Country artists playing rock and getting away with it...check out Waylon Jennings whose mentor was a little known rock act named Buddy Holly. Or John Cash who was on Sun Records with those other country acts Jerry Lee, Roy Orbison, Billy Lee Riley, and his backup guitar player Carl Perkins. You are either really young or a moron or maybe both!!!
@inquiry7 Two things to know: First of all, I wasn't speaking to you in particular. Secondly, I was reffering to artists I LIKE, not necessarily what was popular. Getting away with it as far as my interests are concerned; the other acts you mentioned rarely released anything I enjoy. That's just me, and I make no apologies for it. Is that going to be a problem for you?
@inquiry7 I hear ya' man. It used to be a free country, until our government started giving all our money away, now we're stuck with the bill. I can't make heads or tails of it myself.
saw CDB live. they pulled out all the stops on every song. Few bands play better in person than on their own recordings. You always get your moneys worth with this band, then some. Hoping someone got a live version too.
hey ceecee hows U ? they are really restric ting ev1s music ! rreally liked blue monday but cant see it anymore thou? I like this song 2 love old charlie daniels give us more !
