So catchy and charming. A flawless arrangement. Infectious in every way. Had it not been for Brotherhood of Man, this would indeed have been a very easy and deserving winner.
@setheurovision94 Not keen on this at all. It's really trite and a retread of "Puppet on a String". Now the 1975 entry from Nicole Rieu is something else and the 1979 entry "Je Suis l'Enfant Soleil" is the gold standard in terms of orchestration, melody, lyrics and performance against which every ESC entry should be compared to - and would (mostly) go away empty handed.
@keith904A There's nothing wrong with upbeat, joyful songs any more than there is anything wrong with the other two French entries you mention - both of which are fabulous as well. I wouldn't call "Un, deux, trois" a retread, it's just a witty and playful song as well; similar genres, if you will.
@setheurovision94 This is one time where the French certainly got it right with an upbeat song. It remains one of my fav French songs ever, even amongs all their fabulous great ballads/
@setheurovision94 Talking about flawless arrangements, what about "Toi, La Musique Et Moi" from the same year? I think it's incredible and unlike with "Un, Deux, Trois", the orchestration is preserved in the album version.
The Eurovision Contest were very popular to me about 1974- 78. I played them afterwards with an old type cassette player. This song was also good. Right now I remember the winner Save Your Kisses for Me and the Irish song When was also my favourite.
deserved 2nd place. Le Royaume Uni - douze points!
