  • @tubankamen YWC

  • "Way Alive in 65'...!!!

  • This is an AMAZING show! And for '65! Think about it--the Beatles had just recorded "Help" in the studio a couple of weeks earlier. "Ticket to Ride" and "Yes it Is" were some of the songs playing on pop radio. Bob Dylan was still a few months away from recording "Like a Rolling Stone"

Here's Wes in Hamburg playing on a completely different level with a great band! I love the informality of this show...go see the other clips of this show.

  • He quotes Bill Jennings' solo from "Honkey Tonk".

  • Wait- is that a hat or a hair piece?

  • Hamburg like a motherfucker!

  • 'West Coast Blues', an original by Wes himself ("The Incredible jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery' - Riverside).

  • Ronnie Stephenson was in Europe in 1965 with Wes. I'm pretty sure that it is him.

  • I love that tune Wes plays before they start.

  • after some gurgeling I can confirm:

Recorded: NDR studio 10, Hamburg, 30/4/1965

    Personnel:

    Wes Montgomery (guitar)

    Hans Koller (alto saxophone)

Johnny Griffin & Ronnie Scott (tenor saxophones)

    Ronnie Ross (baritone saxophone)

    Martial Solal (piano)

    Michel Gaudry (bass)

    Ronnie Stephenson (drums)

  • Can anybody verify if this is my dear old friend Ronnie Stephenson on the drums????? I am quite sure its him...

  • THE BEST FOR EVER

  • Wes even swings when he's coutin off of song. the man is incredible.
