No, watch Carne first. That is the first film with The Butcher. Just as good as I Stand Alone and Irreversible. It starts off with a graphic slaughtering of a horse for meat. So, we can already see Noe's perverse, realistic style from the get-go.
i saw the movie yesterday and i liked it but it's too long. They should have cut some scenes. Gaspar has unique style... he's new movie will be about love and sex... i can't wait to see what he's going to do....
This is the first movie I'm actually excited about, and I will watch it the day it comes out in theaters. Never seen his previous movies thought, it's on my to-do list!
@hazerk yeah, this is THE #1 movie i've been waiting on for the past year(even more than Avatar and Hurt Locker). I can't believe you haven't seen his others! You've GOT TO watch 'Irreversible' first, then 'I Stand Alone'- be prepared for both, you will be crushed- like you went to a party, got drunk, got in a fight, and woke up in a hospital 50 miles away with some gorgeous girl you don't know. Noe has got to be one of my favorite new directors out there right now- he's just getting started.
@BriggoTheKat You mean more like getting hit by a car, raped morally by a bunch of convicts, seduced by a prostitute while drunk at a bar, being robbed of all your money, and then being lobotomized and unable to remember the majority of it.
yes, that was a more accurate description of how i felt while watching the film this Saturday. I find though, that I begin to appreciate it more and more as time passes. This is interesting to me because I find my feelings towards this movie very similar to a total ego loss acid trip i had a few months back. Unsettling at first but rewarding in the long term. I believe this is the feeling Noe was attempting to convey in the unique nature of this film.
@hazerk Enter the Void will premier at the IFC cinema in NYC on September 24, 2010. Take care and enjoy. And if you havent seen his previous work, Irreversible will shock the shit out of you, especially the Gay bar scene. I was in tears after i saw it. Literally.
@Redrum267 I saw Enter The Void already, even before seeing his other movies, and I just didn't get the whole thing, it didn't really work for me. Good movie nonetheless, a bit long sometimes though.
@hazerk Yes i know, these Americans suck at receiving films...it has to fucking circulate like a motherfucker before reaching the States. Q: Is the film in French again like the other ones he made? I don't mind subtitles, but i would like for it to be in English.
@hazerk Luckily enough it is being released on Sept. 24, 2010 here in NYC. So i am definitely going to go see it. Alone or not, i am GOING! Can you give me some spoilers, since i already pretty much know the film from all the investigating i made, i would like to know how graphic is their parents death. I heard it was GRAPHIC.
Why is Lady Gaga being electrocuted in the suggestions page xD?
