Because you can't have one without the other!

heaven seems like a nightmare, i couldn't imagine a worse place, and then i read about islamic heaven. There would have to exist a hell in order for anyone to appreciate heaven. The only way a human could be a happy in a place like that is if we were drugged out of our minds the whole time, especially so we don't ever think of all the millions of people burning a few lvls below, many would be family. that bit in the matrix really is true, we need a bit of suffering and work to make us happy.

I've thought about this a lot too.....If heaven isn't everything you fantisize it to be then it just isn't heaven and it isn't worth working for. For me heaven is a lot like earth - just a little better. People that have had near death experiences can explain what it was like to differing degrees. The one thing that they all seem to have in common though is that they did not want to come back to earth. To me it tells me it is pure bliss without all the hate on earth. If nothing else is lost, you still lose the ability to discern contradictory evidence and you possibly spread this behavior to others. This doesn't just happen with religion. But neither of the two can exist without each other. One implies the other one. They're actually both One Thing. These two sides of experience, although appearing to be two, - are, indeed, - one! Because you can't have one without the other!

I would say, that there is an infinite amount of places in the Cosmos, that could be called "Heaven", and there is also an infinite amount of places in the Cosmos, that could be called "Hell". Some creature may see our Earth as Hell, and some other creature might see our Earth as Heaven - is what I mean, - and that applies to all places ;)

heaven seems like a nightmare, i couldn't imagine a worse place, and then i read about islamic heaven. There would have to exist a hell in order for anyone to appreciate heaven. Heaven is also a kingdom (the kingdom of heaven) If you understand what a kingdom is like then that is a hint of what heaven will be like. In a kingdom your greatest job is to serve the king. You will want to serve him because of the love he exudes. As for the pearly gates or the walls of jasper etc....those do paint a picture for you and how do you know it will not be much more beautiful to look at then the clouds or trees?

People that have had near death experiences can explain what it was like to differing degrees. The one thing that they all seem to have in common though is that they did not want to come back to earth. To me it tells me it is pure bliss without all the hate on earth. Nobody can tell you what heaven will be like having not been there but you could not describe earth either had you not come here.

@DezzyRayz Near death experiences are caused by oxygen deprivation to the brain. In the throws of death your brain gives you mercy and floods you with endorphins, making you blissful. It is a documented phenomenon. Ask astronauts who have been subjected to a centrifuge. Their description of blacking out is just like that of near death experiences, even including the bright light and out of body hallucinations.

I actually would be happy to bow down at the feet of Jesus for the awful death he went thru to save me.Our earth is so uncaring and so full of people that only think of themselves. Jesus cared for us so I think that he has made a place for us and it can only be a good place if he died for us

Our earth is full of caring people who want what is best for those they love, and sometimes they believe this means they have to visit pain upon others. Why would we be stuck on earth if there is a better place and god WANTS us to be there? Furthermore why would god create a earth and people who are total assholes?

I have very similar sentiments...FUCK AFTERLIFE and give me enough LIFE with health and reasonable faculties to discover, to witness, and to experience all the paradises on Earth. And enough time to see humanity colonize other parts of our solar system and if ever possible travel the stars...I know I'm pushing it here, but I have faith in humanity if they have faith in each other instead being preoccupied with delusions and ridicules myths.

Your argument is based on the assumption that there's nothing to lose by belief. That's just not the case. If nothing else is lost, you still lose the ability to discern contradictory evidence and you possibly spread this behavior to others. This doesn't just happen with religion. Any belief can lead to a kind of blindness in regards to contradictory evidence.

Why does he demand blind subservience instead of presenting a reasoned argument? If, in your mind, demons are the sole source of reasoned thought, then why on earth would you ever worship your god? And I meant to use quotation marks for the bible being "evidence" for God because it's not really evidence seeing as how its the "inspired word of God." You couldn't take the bible to court & use any of it as evidence because the bible, God, religion, you name it requires 100% FAITH, which isn't truth. A definition of Faith is a firm belief in something for which there is no proof. See marriam-webster if you don't believe me on that one.
