Why can't the tracking device be on the dog's collar?

@MissDolittle Well, I've had four dogs, and their collars were never lost, switched, stolen, broken ... I've never heard of that happening to any of the collars to any of the dogs that I've known either.

MIcrochip replacement would be much easier if it is in a collar and not under a pet's skin. Moreover, any health risks of having a microchip under the skin would not be a concern.

@HopyHop1 That makes you the exception to the rule. I too have 4 dogs. One can't wear a collar right now because she has a bad ear infection and it irritates her even more. My little one doesn't wear a collar because he keeps getting sores from it. Of course I don't let them outside without a collar, but it happens. I'm sure you have good points too, but I prefer the chip inside the dog. Nobody can steal as easily as a collar and the proof is solid.

I lost my little dachshund on a pitch black raining night. Me and my family searched for hours on end. When I finally cried myself to sleep, my mom came in the room with a wet ball of excited fur. I was so happy I started to cry again. She said she had heard him howling at the door. Ahh, How dare he scare me like that! But I am very glad he came back :)

I got reunited with my So-Called Kitten it ran away when it was just a a month old then it came back 2 years later on the weirdest Date The day when She ran away i was walking home to begin our family mini-party on remembering our kitty witty but outside of our door there she was Meowing Meowing And meowing My family Already set up the stuff for the mini-party and i was walking in with a cat in my hands im certain it was her because she still had our collar which oddly still fitted her :,)

i lost my cat...and then..couple months later..she came back...i got out of the bus...i saw a pouffy thing at my door house...so i wint to go look what it was..and it was her...my cat...i started crying so much i was happy...and then she ran away couple onths latter...nevr came back :'(

@QcTigerGirl7 My cat got lost too, a couple f months he came back but he was really weak, I was sooo happy, but the next day all he was doing was lying down, then he died.. :'(

I'm just glad he is with us now.. :'(

@katrina374 yeah well that really suck :( and i also lost my dog....he saved my brothers life when he was young..it was a golden retriver....and then someone stold him, he didnt ran away :( never he would of done that..he was too happy with us :)

Be sure your vet has scanners that can read every type oif chip - there is more than one maufacturer.

There is NEVER a GOOD reason to deliberately breed dogs or cats. Due to overpopulation many millions have been killed. I can understand wanting a pup or pups from exceptional dogs you know or own. But, that reason is NOT good enough to put a puppy in a home that should have been taken by another dog that was killed because no one would give it a home.

what a beautiful story! my mira, a sharpei/lab, disappeared for 2.5 months and i was sick w/worry. i screamed w/joy when she came home. despite the posters, she came home on her own. maybe she recognized the life size poster i had of her in the front yard?

And please offer to sponsor someone who is having a hard time keeping their pet in this economy. Several dollars a week from you could mean an animal can stay with their family!

I encourage everyone to make sure their vet actually scans all dogs. So many vets don't and that makes it difficult to get back your microchipped dog if they have been found or adopted and are now living with a new family. Also help your local shelters to purchase and maintain scanners and see that they scan every animal they come upon.

Those interested in caring for dogs do not provide pseudo rational for their uncontionable contribution to the problem. Adoption is Best!

I was touch by dis handsome boy!! Can everybody sees the joy and proudness are all over that boy face!!! Hope the owner take real good care of dis boy, after, heaven was being very kind to you for able to recover back your boy, and its an over three yrs time!! I'm all for adopting from shelters, However I am also a Breeder of AKC pomeranian, and I dont have anything against buying from a reputable breeder. You shouldn't tell people Not to buy, you should be telling them to do their research and find out what breed fits their lifestlye best, then making the choice to get one from a shelter/rescue or Good breeder. Just stay away from pet stores and bad breeders, and bad shelters. Lets face it there are some bad shelters too. Do your research people

@Squince84 You have no right to tell me not to breed when I'm producing healthy animals, sold on spay/neuter contracts with a health guarantee to great homes. If people were responsible there would be so many less animals in shelters. Thats like saying people cant have their own children because there are children all over the world that need homes and should be adopted. Its not ok to tell people what they can and cant do. I will continue to breed health tested, great dogs.

I don't believe in breeding animals, sorry if you do, but I don't. I would never buy an animal and I would never encourage anyone else to do so, either.

I also don't have children and don't want children. I'm all for people not having their own children. The world is overpopulated enough as it is.

It's great the ones you breed are healthy, but I still don't believe it's necessary.

@Squince84 An opinion is one thing, telling someone what they are doing is wrong and that breeding is bad and the only good thing to do is adopt isn't an opinion, its telling other people what to do. An opinion is stating that you prefer personally to adopt rather than buy, not tell other people what the should or should not do. I'm not saying I'd never adopt a dog, because I would, but I see nothing wrong in producing quality, healthy registered purebred puppies that fit their breed standard
