So in your opinion what sounded better, the gain channel on the jet or the studio pro with a great dirt pedal. Do you think the studio pro could sound like the jet with the right pedal. It is much cheaper to buy the studio pro, but I'd buy the jet if you think the distortion is really something unique and special. Please help.

The Kalamazoo was never intended as a Klon clone. Pretty sure it was just intended to sound as GOOD as possible. Since both pedals sound about as good as possible, they sound similar. Obviously, Cap'n is the one in communication w/ Sean, not me, but he doesn't strike me as the kind of builder who sets out to clone other people's pedals. His are good enough as is =| lol

@yobhsiFehT I don't think Sean ever described the Kalamazoo as a Klon copy, but Pro Guitar Shop did - thats where I got it from! There is a great video on their channel where they shoot out the Kalamazoo & a Klon. Its pretty hard to tell the difference.

excellent jam really showed off the amps and other equipment I think you guys need to do that more often with a band then more people will know what to buy to get a certain sound when played on their own instruments sound great until you start playing with a band then you have to start changing equipment etc to get that complete sound like you guy's have.

@iagoguitarplayer I recorded it with two mics in the room, a AKG C 414 B-XLS and a Sontronics Orpheus, the AKG was looking more at the kit and bass rig with the Sontronics slightly lower down looking more at the guitar rig, trial and error to find a good phase relation ship between the two then mixed. Pre-amps were just RME OctaMic II's in to a FF800 via ADAT recorded into Logic Pro9 at 48k.

How indeed I have learned the hard way. Been a Firefighter/Paramedic for 20 years and those sirens will hurt your hearing. Even with the windows up. Plus the younger years in my parents house so i wouldn't disturb them. I do have a little high freq. loss. I'll try to search the site for an acoustic treatment video

Chappers, what do you hear in your earpiece? I mean do you hear all the other instruments or only a select? I don't know how they work.

@hawg427 They are ER5 or ER25's, I use the same. They are basically a db filter so you hear everything but with either a 15 or 25 db cut, so if the band were 100db with these plugs in you would be protected and have a volume of 75db in you ears. EVERY musician should have them, no brainier, exposure to loud volume (inc headphones!) will coma and get you later on in life.
