The Pang brothers are from Hong Kong. They started their career in Thailand and made films like Bangkok Dangerous but the Eye was made in Hong Kong. It references Thailand. The third movie is based in Thailand... To my knowledge, as I haven't seen it ha ha ha. I am going to buy the Trilogy. I bought the collectors edition of the first one and my son used it for a toy.

Thw origional versian of The Eye - made before Jessica Alba's - was japanese. You'll here people say a lot on here that the japanese versian was better. This is the second japanese one, I guess. Hope that helps :)

i cant really compare the jap(or kor/chi/whatever) and remake versions cuz i have seen the jap..

The films aren't supposed to be linked by anything other than the fact the two heroines see ghosts. The Pang Bros. specified that in the bonus features on the DVD.

In the end, it's revealed that Joey's stalker is none other than Sam's wife, who kills herself then chooses to be reincarnated as Joey and Sam's daughter. The reason being Buddhists (at least in the film) believe that once reincarnated one can forget EVERYTHING from their past life. Joey feels for her rival and agrees to let her in.

I think the reason is the The first "The Eye" movie became a big hit. If translate directly from Chinese, should call it "Seeing Ghost". These stories talk about 10 different ways to enable you to see ghost. First "The Eye" tells you only 1 way of seeing ghost, the second movie tells another one, and the third movie tells the rest.
