I had one go off in my hands one time about 1/4 full. I had an idea that if I left the bag flat out of the box and fill it rather than opening it and then collapsing it. Static spark blew out my eardrums and peppered my stomach with plastic right through my shirt. I had filled over a hundred before that always opened the bags up first. Balloons are what the experts use for demos. Turns you gun shy for sure.

Yep static will set them off. I seen three guy's blown out of the back of a pickup truck , holding on to a filled trash bag. They are fun but only when it's damp outside.

@billville111 No shit man! My family made the mistake of filling close to 20 balloons with oxy/ace and put them into a garbage bag. We were in a garage at the time and passed the garbage bag one by one up to the door leading into the house and some chick with a wool sweater that was standing next to me grabbed it and some static set it off. Blew the garage door off its rails and cracked the ceiling throughout the house. It also ruptured and ignited the lighter fluid I had in my pocket!

@DAMNASTY1 Both of us ended up in the hospital. She had a lot of hair cooked off. Looked similiar to that boxing promoter Don King. She wasn't hurt... more scared than anything. But I did the whole stop drop and roll into lighter fluid that was burning on the floor so I had burns all over. Good times :)
