benchpressing is not a good idea for weightlifters, it adds too much shoulder mass which makes snatching very difficult. Just ask large powerlifters that have tried to make the transistion
@Kensomniac im the same,im a powerlifter and dont take juice even tho everyone assumes if u lift over 200kg ur a juicer, its unfair but the world we live in,lot of ignorance out there mate.plus ppl put u by there own genetic limitations, sometimes, bieng gifted is like a curse!!lol
@PanjabiWarrior - all weightlifters juice? Fuck you, my friend... I haven't touched any "juice" in my career.. I lift completely raw, too... I guess for weightlifters that have no natural ability, juice and suits are the way to go.. for the rest of us.. we lift on our own power.
This guy is on some serious juice, All weightlifters juice up but they have to duck & dive, dodge the testers, this guy was juiced up all year round, there was hardly any testing when this guy was lifting,Fake fuck check out The strongest man on earth on my videos, this guy is nothing
@panjabiwarrior lol like rezazadeh isn't using? Kurlovich is like 70 pounds lighter and lifting heavier weight. None of rezazadeh's olympic "records" are actually world records. He has them because of a change in the weight classes. Get your head out of your biased ass
@TBW92 I didn't say rezazadah is not using they all are,but they do have to duck & dive from the testers This guy Alexsandr Kurlovich was using them for Meals at will, his a fake mate
@TBW92 The russians paid rezazadeh not to lift more, just look at his lift lol, he could easily have put another 5 kgs on the bar, if not more. However, Behdad Salimi will rape all of the records.
@mikeyburger1 Yes he has, but it was not counted as a record since it was in a unofficial competition, they have changed the rules. I think injuries and diabetes kept rezazadeh away from lifting more, I don't see any lifter with even near his talent, I think he woulda been able to go over 270. But Salimi will break both records if he is lucky to avoid injuries.
@IhaveHopeinGod Obviously not. Russians paid rezazadeh not to lift more than 263.5 kg lol.. look at his lift for gods sake, that was his morning gymnastic clean hahaha. Salimi lifted 217 snatch, and it's just a matter of time when he breaks the C&J record. Since juicing ain't as easy to get away with anymore, russians and other europeans haven't been near iranians. You guys will never be stronger than the boys of Ardebil and Mazandaran, everyone is strong there.
@Kavehisftw haha! the towel heads are on more gear than the entire history of the tour de-france!!! just as much as any russian!! while they have talent for olympic lifts, and theres no denying that fact, if their "so strong" as you claim, how come we dont see any sand people competing at a high level in met-rx worlds strongest man or high level powerlifting meets??
@terrormonkey1 Cause in iran they don't care about powerlifting or strongman competition. It's just not a big thing. Rezazadehs record in squat deadlift and benchpress (done with olympic style) makes him a top powerlifter aswell. The reason oly. lifters are olys, is because of the drug check. As I said as soon as they had harder drug checks, russians stopped dropping in. Back then they didnt check for drugs as much. Neither they do in PL or strongmen compt Oly lifters are stronger than strongmen
I heard rezazadeh has done a 400 kg back squat, 220 kg bench press and a 380 kg deadlift... not bad going. As for doping, I think it will always be a problem.
@mikeyburger1 Yeah, and they were all done olympic style.. Not superwide legs with protection, Rezazadeh always lifts raw aswell lol. I'm not trying to present the sport of powerlifting as shit, but I think many Olympic lifters can outlift them just if they get used to the techniques
I definately prefere raw, because of the full range of motion which shows strength as it should be, rarther than just getting a load of ply so you can lift like 50 % more than you really can. Seems kinda pointless... but I suppose for those who compete ply/multiply it's a fair competition
@mikeyburger1 The ROM is the same in both RAW and equipped powerlifting (as long as you look at only 1 federation). But I agree with you, I do respect the equipment guys for what they do but for me it´s just taking away the appeal of powerlifting, which is it´s simplicity and its, well, RAW nature of a pure test of strength while taking almost everything else out of the picture. Like the deadlift. You just pick it up. I can´t think of any lift that is more..basic.
@Kavehisftw Actually they can´t. They are not training for the same thing. I think Olympic lifters would lack chest strength, maybe lat strength and other qualities to break records in powerlifting. The same thing goes the other way round (e.g. weak quad). Also the time under tension is different which makes powerlifters want to put on more muscle compared to Olympic lifters. And I don´t think that anyone will ever come close to Magnussons RAW deadlift of 460 kg.
@MellonVegan You're wrong. Yes I do agree that they lack chest strength. However. Weightlifters are under more strict doping controls. Reza has liftet 385kg deadlift, with a much more difficult technique than powerlifters do. He'd most likely beat the squat word record with the rules they have. Besides, who said measuring strength is a bout how basic the lift is. Thats like saying curling the most with ur biceps makes u the strongest.
@MellonVegan If you have ever read physics, you'd know how much more impressive lifting 260kg overhead is, compared to deadlifting 460. You can calculate it with simple formulas, difference in potential energy. And then we havent even calculated that holding the weight towards the roof using ur shoulders is sort of more difficult than letting the bar hang from ur hands.
The requirements of the sport for strongman is very different from the olympic lifts... I think the sports are just different but there are probably a few olympic lifters who wouldn't do badly in strongman competitions, although the stamina in some events may be a problem for some athletes.
The one on now is called Fur Elise (piano).... Unfortunately its a rarther loud, fuzzy version of it... couldn't really find anything to go with the video, since the film is a silent video.
Yea I think he was near his heaviest here, still light really compaired to other superheavies, he's about 6 foot 1 or 6 foot 2 I'd say, but I believe he was around 130 kg
@mikeyburger1 Dude I am soo glad you caught that, I figuered something was up when I was watching something from the olympics. I guess i got the 4 and the 0 swapped. :)
@Henzzman Give details. During Kurlovich's career there was no official press lift. Alexeev left with all time high press of 521 lbs, 236.5KG. I read that Kurlovich did a strict 352.6 lb press (160kg) good for a lifter whose main objective was to jerk weights up.
It's absolutely UNFAIR to rewrite WR simply because of changing weight categories.
I don't understand why it has been done. In 80-s, 30 yrs ago, WR were 215(Antonio Krastev of Bulgaria) snatch and 266(Taranenko or Kurlovich of USSR) clean&jerk.
Couldn't agree more, I think its probably because these days there is no one capable of maintaining or breaking these records which would make weightlifters today look bad. And I think Krastev has done a 216 kg, there was an unofficial 216.5 done at a meet and krastev even claims a 222.5 in training, but I agree totally.
Appologies for the music, best I could get with this shitty youtube stash otherwise I would have put something more decent on.
I am just learning to do Clean and Jerks correctly for the first time. This is huge. I did them in high school with just a football coach and never really got much instruction. Amazing what doing them right can do for you.
I am just learning to do Clean and Jerks correctly for the first time. This is huge. I did them in high school with just a football coach and never really got much instruction. Amazing what doing them right can do for you.
amazingly not, its listed as Hossein Rezazadeh's 263.5 kilo clean and jerk, because of the changing of the weight classes, which is unfair in my opinion, but it is the all time world record and the true clean and jerk world record in my book... although technically this lift was failed and the wr officially stands at 266 kg by leonid tarenenko, who is also worthy of the title in my opinion :)
well i think the judges decided that he wasn't stable when he dropped the weight but tbh I would have given this lift, I am a very kind referee by comparrison
Excellent effort, would have been interesting if he bulked on an extra 5kg and had a slightly stronger elbow joint, he would have put up 272 in competition for sure!
@vibit7 that record IS standing. Another man, Taranenko had a GOOD LIFT from all 3 judges on 266kg. Now.... some skinny bitchass geeks in the olympic comitee fiddled with the weight classes, so the absolute record is 263kg by Rezazadeh now... Makes no sense, but thats the way it is.
@mikeyburger1 A bit unfair? Try putting yourself in Taranenko's place. You ve dedicated YOUR ENTIRE LIFE to the sport. You set a world record. And then someone, not even your competitor, not even a sportsman - just says you dont hold the record anymore. And your name is cleared of all the record charts. Thats FUCKIN UNFAIR.
@dan7edan7e That's what's so dangerous about men in suits and ties they do all sorts of horrible things. Payoffs may have been involved. Ethics? They have none.
@atx410984 What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone who have read your comment is now dumber for having read it. I award you thumbs down, and may God have mercy on your soul...
this is just absolutely insane. such a unique style off the floor rarely do you see that kind of width in a power clean stance. not to mention the incredible depth he gets in the squat with his feet so wide! his hip flexible is not human for someone with that kind of body mass. absolutely unreal.
I'd say olympic lifters are the greatest athletes in strength sports, combining speed, balance, technique, and power, as well as the strength of rhinos. Powerlifters are up there too, with the fantastic amounts of weight they handle. Gotta be brave as hell to get under those weights in the bench press and squat. WSM competitors seem to combine the two sports, in a way, and they have to rep out with weights that boggle my mind. Bodybuilders? The artists of the weightlifting world, and strong too!
yea, its pritty increadible really. Yea WSM athletes amaze me, unreal strength-endurance... something I will never be able to do. yea they are all really good tbh.... although I'm not so keen on bodybuilders
For everyone bitching about who's "the strongest", maybe it's not olympic weightlifters, but they are up there. In terms of POWER, nobody even comes close. These guys are the most powerful people, end of discussion.
@wordwreckin 100 percent correct. it is just humorous to listen to powerlifters say this is all technique. they are deadlifting nearly 600 pounds off the floor, but doing it with incredible rigid posture and position. then proceed to pull under it, rack it across the torso, FRONT SQUAT 600 pounds, then manage to put it over their head some how in a few tenths of second. When you center of gravity is above your head at 600 pounds, your not from this world. just mind blowing.
very true, actually its harder still because the acceleration they move the weight the force applied on the bar may be as much as half as much again when lifted because its done quickly, not to mention the power - since P=FV, in powerlifting the velocity or V is very low so they are by far more powerful and explosive. And yes like you say, with the ideal posture for the second pull so much harder to pick up compaired to a deadlift... and with all the rest of it, this is just mind boggling....
@mikeyburger1 i have heard alot of great things about you! never met before but its great to get a response from someone of your status in the weightlifting world thank you! fantastic video btw!
I am moved by your response :), although I think a lot of people over-estimate my abilities, but I do my best to make do with what I have... thankyou. Glad you enjoy them :) I will start posting again once my camera is sorted out, hopefully I can do something half decent at my next competition :)... always a lot of pressure to maintain standard, and I am not in best of shapes at the moment, I must admit.
@mikeyburger1 HEY FRIEND IS UNREAL AT THE TIME OF ATHLETE, SPORTS THAT HAD A LOT OF SALE, AS BULGARIA, USSR,, A LIKE RUSSIA,, TODAY YOU ARE IN THE ADVANTAGE OF CHINA, AND IS NOT WHAT YOU SAY IS UNREAL HAS NO LOGIC TO THE ATHLETE Süleymanoğlu Naim, DESPITE MEASURING 1.50MT. 3 TIMES I GET TO RAISE YOUR OWN WEIGHT, WE ARE ALL PEOPLE IF YOU going to do something they do,, SO ARE THEY, were proposals to something and He obtains,
@awaii90210 I agree. These guys are filtered from thousands, they are the best suited men in the world to hoist these weights. Forget about powerlifters or "strongmen", SHW oly lifters are the strongest men. I met Steiner and his thighs were twice mine and his wrist were exceeding 8 inches at 6 feet tall. I met his team partner Armin Velagic too, he looked monstrous. He looked like an off-season pro bodybuilder, amazing physique and his hands were huge. These men are weeded to be the best.
I tell you what, when you see some of the numbers these guys post in squats, press, even deadlift and bench press its quite amazing just how strong these guys are, as well as the fact they have awesome technique for such big guys, speed and thus power and even flexibility it's just mind boggling stuff!! LOL!!! Steiner, would like to meet him, it was great meeting kurlovich, even though he wasn't lifting still. lol haha! all that fast twitch, quite amazing!
@Rogelio22 The strongest man in the world is the one who lifts more period! What he does does'nt matter it's the lift at hand, you sound ignorant when you say olympic is the strongest, if a guy out lifts him he is stronger and I don't care if it's a rock or a car or a Barbell get it?
Agree, it's a complicated thing though, I think there are loads of guys who would consider themselves worlds strongest man or person in fact, but i think it really depends on the type of strength, the trainining and what they do.... and of course in what area... i think it also depends on your definition of strength, it becomes much more complicated when you involve leavers as well.
I agree that it is quite likely guys like this were geared. I still will give them the benefit of the doubt since not all tested positive. This is an amazing lift full stop. However, on the topic of drugs, I agree that nowadays the SHW hardly approach 250kgs. Hossein was the only one who was outstanding but because he was possibly the strongest man ever. Anyone here who has hopes on the new SHW to approach Hossein? My favourite is Chygishev but I don't think he will ever come close to a 260 cnj.
So you guys know: since the new, stricter rules of doping in weightlifting these records are not recognized anymore. That's why in recent games top C&J for 105kg+ rarely reaches 250kg.
That is until the drug companies come up with something new and undetectable.
@brands1 With better food supplements these days, they can get nearer 250kg on a good day. Saying that, big drug companies never sleep so not long b4 we see another batch of spectacular record breaking lifts. Lookin forward to that!!!
i think if these guys were clean all there life i doubt you would see hardly any 230 + clena and jerks, it would be a very different sport.... ha for a start i would be in the world juniors! lol
there is still such problems with the sport today, and in fact with all sports. But yes you're right it will happen. A lot of lifters join the iWF after being geared up for like 10 years
damn, in a north american gym, that's the equivalent of over 6 45lb plates on each side of a standard olympic bar. deadlifting that weight is pretty crazy, but cleaning it and pressing above your head? unreal.
haha I Know... Told me he front squatted 320 Kilos in training! Thats FRONT SQUATTED.... No knee wraps, belt or anything!!! Got a video of him Power-squatting 300 kgs lol!! Not bad considering he only weighs 142 kgs!

I am just learning to do Clean and Jerks correctly for the first time. This is huge. I did them in high school with just a football coach and never really got much instruction. Amazing what doing them right can do for you.

Amazing that is the current world record isn't it??
427dynodon 9 months ago
amazingly not, its listed as Hossein Rezazadeh's 263.5 kilo clean and jerk, because of the changing of the weight classes, which is unfair in my opinion, but it is the all time world record and the true clean and jerk world record in my book... although technically this lift was failed and the wr officially stands at 266 kg by leonid tarenenko, who is also worthy of the title in my opinion :)
mikeyburger1 9 months ago
@mikeyburger1 why was this lift technically failed?
DaveCraig91 8 months ago
well i think the judges decided that he wasn't stable when he dropped the weight but tbh I would have given this lift, I am a very kind referee by comparrison

Makes no sense, but thats the way it is.
dan7edan7e 10 months ago
@dan7edan7e Probably to allow for all the changes since the 70-90s, still it is a bit unfair on these guys who truely hold the records!
mikeyburger1 10 months ago
@mikeyburger1 A bit unfair? Try putting yourself in Taranenko's place. You ve dedicated YOUR ENTIRE LIFE to the sport. You set a world record. And then someone, not even your competitor, not even a sportsman - just says you dont hold the record anymore. And your name is cleared of all the record charts. Thats FUCKIN UNFAIR.

@dan7edan7e I know, its a discrace.... like most things in sport

@DanielSel got it up ,but didnt stabilise the weight.he keeps turning and at a point lets the weight off cause he ll be getting off balance soon
fightingforpride 1 year ago
this is just absolutely insane. such a unique style off the floor rarely do you see that kind of width in a power clean stance. not to mention the incredible depth he gets in the squat with his feet so wide! his hip flexible is not human for someone with that kind of body mass. absolutely unreal.

The artists of the weightlifting world, and strong too!
dynomax101 1 year ago 2
yea, its pritty increadible really. Yea WSM athletes amaze me, unreal strength-endurance... something I will never be able to do. yea they are all really good tbh.... although I'm not so keen on bodybuilders
mikeyburger1 1 year ago
For everyone bitching about who's "the strongest", maybe it's not olympic weightlifters, but they are up there. In terms of POWER, nobody even comes close. These guys are the most powerful people, end of discussion.
wordwreckin 1 year ago 2
@wordwreckin 100 percent correct. it is just humorous to listen to powerlifters say this is all technique. they are deadlifting nearly 600 pounds off the floor, but doing it with incredible rigid posture and position. then proceed to pull under it, rack it across the torso, FRONT SQUAT 600 pounds, then manage to put it over their head some how in a few tenths of second. When you center of gravity is above your head at 600 pounds, your not from this world. just mind blowing.
nk29382 1 year ago 3
very true, actually its harder still because the acceleration they move the weight the force applied on the bar may be as much as half as much again when lifted because its done quickly, not to mention the power - since P=FV, in powerlifting the velocity or V is very low so they are by far more powerful and explosive. And yes like you say, with the ideal posture for the second pull so much harder to pick up compaired to a deadlift... and with all the rest of it, this is just mind boggling....
mikeyburger1 1 year ago
@mikeyburger1 i have heard alot of great things about you! never met before but its great to get a response from someone of your status in the weightlifting world thank you! fantastic video btw!
nk29382 1 year ago
I am moved by your response :), although I think a lot of people over-estimate my abilities, but I do my best to make do with what I have... thankyou. Glad you enjoy them :) I will start posting again once my camera is sorted out, hopefully I can do something half decent at my next competition :)... always a lot of pressure to maintain standard, and I am not in best of shapes at the moment, I must admit.

Rogelio22 1 year ago
I tell you what, when you see some of the numbers these guys post in squats, press, even deadlift and bench press its quite amazing just how strong these guys are, as well as the fact they have awesome technique for such big guys, speed and thus power and even flexibility it's just mind boggling stuff!! LOL!!! Steiner, would like to meet him, it was great meeting kurlovich, even though he wasn't lifting still. lol haha! all that fast twitch, quite amazing!
mikeyburger1 1 year ago
@Rogelio22 Why the hate for the other disciplines of strength? You make OLWLs look bad with that kind of attitude. Kurlovic is far above your style.
wolfgangle 1 year ago
@Rogelio22 The strongest man in the world is the one who lifts more period! What he does does'nt matter it's the lift at hand, you sound ignorant when you say olympic is the strongest, if a guy out lifts him he is stronger and I don't care if it's a rock or a car or a Barbell get it?
powerful1677 1 year ago
Agree, it's a complicated thing though, I think there are loads of guys who would consider themselves worlds strongest man or person in fact, but i think it really depends on the type of strength, the trainining and what they do.... and of course in what area... i think it also depends on your definition of strength, it becomes much more complicated when you involve leavers as well.
mikeyburger1 1 year ago
I agree that it is quite likely guys like this were geared. I still will give them the benefit of the doubt since not all tested positive. This is an amazing lift full stop. However, on the topic of drugs, I agree that nowadays the SHW hardly approach 250kgs. Hossein was the only one who was outstanding but because he was possibly the strongest man ever. Anyone here who has hopes on the new SHW to approach Hossein? My favourite is Chygishev but I don't think he will ever come close to a 260 cnj.
Rogelio22 1 year ago
Agree. Agree. Agree... lol Chigishev is pritty awesome!
mikeyburger1 1 year ago
what height are you and kurlovich?

mikeyburger1 1 year ago
So you guys know: since the new, stricter rules of doping in weightlifting these records are not recognized anymore. That's why in recent games top C&J for 105kg+ rarely reaches 250kg.
That is until the drug companies come up with something new and undetectable.
awaii90210 1 year ago
@awaii90210 could you imagine a clean olympic weightlifting comp, what do you think these guys would lift if they were clean? 230?
brands1 1 year ago
@brands1 With better food supplements these days, they can get nearer 250kg on a good day. Saying that, big drug companies never sleep so not long b4 we see another batch of spectacular record breaking lifts. Lookin forward to that!!!
awaii90210 1 year ago
i think if these guys were clean all there life i doubt you would see hardly any 230 + clena and jerks, it would be a very different sport.... ha for a start i would be in the world juniors! lol
mikeyburger1 1 year ago
@brands1
Ha I hope so, because my ultimate goal is to clean and jerk over 200 kg without drugs.
Apjooz 1 year ago
there is still such problems with the sport today, and in fact with all sports. But yes you're right it will happen. A lot of lifters join the iWF after being geared up for like 10 years
mikeyburger1 1 year ago
damn, in a north american gym, that's the equivalent of over 6 45lb plates on each side of a standard olympic bar. deadlifting that weight is pretty crazy, but cleaning it and pressing above your head? unreal.
michaelzwarszawy 1 year ago
haha, mr kurlovich really is an unreal guy, was so pleased to see him :)
