I have a theory: The Resistance rebelled against future John becaus he was in love with Cameron, and sent her back to his past self before she could be terminated.

I think that they might, because from one of the other previews John confronts Jesse with a handgun and is like "If you pretend not to know me I'll shoot you in the head" or something to that effect, so he finds out about her some how.
