Strange. Isn't the automated lure to the left of the inside lane?  It looks like this dog was more toward the middle lane and then just wiped out. Sad story, anyway.

The dog's name was BB's Story Book, he was only 2 years old. When he hit the lure it shattered his skull, chest and broke 2 of his legs. :(

If the dog is running loose on the track like that they should have stopped the race for the safety of the dogs.

@altstiff There is not a brake mechanism on the lure, it's at the end of the track. When a dog falls, they just close the curtains, not only there is now way to stop the race, the person at one of the curtains should have grabbed the dog as quickly as possible, or the Patrol Judge at least

This Mardi Gras Greyhound Park seems to be really awfully run.

Greyhounds love to run and race, so I have no issues with the basic premise of letting them do something they love, but THIS is NOT how it should be done. When there's gambling involved, everything just becomes about the money, without the greyhounds taken into account…

hate this video but ive seen it so often and its a prime example of 1) 8 dogs is just too many! and 2) inaffective management. If you see a dog running the wrong way around the track the GBGB rule in england is to stop the race for saftey reasons. plus inside hare rails are dangerous thigs

Yeah, This is exactly why Greyhound racing should be OUTLAWED! It is completley just awful. We adopted a greyhound who unfourtunatley passed today. He died of bone cancer. Which could have been linked back to the whipe outs he had breaking his leg. That dog met the world to me. To be honest the things they do to these poor dogs are awful. They just try to please the jackasses who treat them like crap. R.I.P. John. And lets hope this becomes outlawed

Oh my god, this is... I don't have words for how horrible this is. I have a beautiful greyhound myself, and seeing this made me cry. I just want to save every one of their poor, tortured lives. Greyhounds cannot defend themselves against such powerful odds, they're helpless. I wish that every one of those sick people who continue to torture and neglect and abuse these magnificent, graceful, friendly creatures would die. No animal deserves to be treated this way! It's sickening...

This makes me cry. You force a dog to race, first of all, and then thats what kills it! The poor dog tried so hard to please the stupid people who race them, but they pushed him/her too hard and killed it. That pretty much makes me think of it as murder, or at least animal abuse. And look, the dog dies and you just keep on watching the race. YOU ARE HORRIBLE.

this is yet another reason why greyhound racing should be banned. It's just another form of exploitation of our fellow animals for clueless people to bet money on. None of them realize (or want to know about) all the cruelty, death, and suffering that goes on behind the scenes.... similar to circus-goers. It's time to stop this lunacy.

2 TWO!!!! accidents in the same race! At least one fatal! The other one, who knows if he was "disposed off" because his injury would keep him from earning money for his owner... When I hear the usual phrase that "greyhounds love to race" I want to spit! Do greyhounds love to die???? Sure they love running, any dog loves to feel the wind in his ears... but do they like to earn money for their owners? Do they have a concept of "winning"? Atrocious race! We have to stop that! NOW!!!!!!!!!

There is only one accident in this race. The dog you see fall at the beginning gets up and runs across the track. Same dog, both accidents.

The only way to stop this is by making people aware of these races, and sign petitions with many many people. The number will make the difference.
