I think Pepe did a GREAT job capturing Selena's style because after all they do share it, or did. He himself has also grown up with both culture (American and Mexican; hence the electric guitar with the mariachi), and it is shown in his music just like it did in Selena's. I personally believe that this is the most touching of all of Selena's songs, and it was interpreted really well.
