You should change the title since its not really a trick as much as its a challenge. since you still have to get the heart containers first might as well take the first sword with you.... but still pretty cool (thumbs up)

Neat trick. There is one more heart container you can get: get the secret rupees north of the money tree (top right of the map), buy the blue candle. Get the heart container on the other side near level 1. In reality you can get all 13 without ever picking up *any* sword, as has been shown in swordless games...

@AbstractGreenDude You don't have to apologize haha! There are no clues, you just have to know where. My first time through, I bombed anywhere that look suspicious. For example, usually you'll find secrets on flat walls, and not as likely on bumpy, jagged walls.
Cool - the only requirement for the sword is to have 5 heart containers though, I kinda skipped to the end of the video so I'm not sure if you did anything special haha

Oh thank you! I was watching a video someone put up where he got the white sword before going to level 1, to which I thought "I've got that beat" I can get the white sword without even getting the original. I'm glad I wasn't the only one with WAY too much free time on my hands when I was a kid.

Now I'm nearing the end of Level 4 with 10 heart containers, and I have NO sword whatsoever, lol. How do you kill the hydra at the end of level 4 without a sword? I'm trying to figure that out right now.
Just from the top of my head, I think it was possible to defeat the boss of Level 4 with the Magic Rod from Level 6.
Not with the beams it shoots, but only by hitting the heads with the rod. You can defeat just about any enemy this way. You can make it to Ganon without the sword.
Which will lead to having the crap beaten out of you, but anyway.
Thanks, already got to Ganon without a sword. And yep, Level 6 was a frikkin' pain to get through - I did it on my first try with just 8 bombs because I got lucky, the wizzrobes dropped a few bombs here and there. I had 0 bombs when I defeated the last wizzrobe in the room with the wand, thank goodness!
I'm surprised you managed to get all of the way through there without a Sword. I guess luck played a good factor in your success - making sure you could actually get through those screens. Especially the White Sword cave with the Blue Lynel...
