I don't like this guide. You spend too much time in the character development stage, and then when the actual gameplay comes in, you don't talk about everything you should. And you're supposed to be a good player, cmon.

Wow, you can look at character models and spin them for 1:40? Are you seriously that void of imagination? Thanks for all that helpful info. It made the time well spent. Oh . . . wait. . . No, you didn't give any information. You just looked at character models. Golly, that sure is neat. I'm not so sure where the "guide" part comes in to play. I quit watching after that . . It's clearly a waste of time to continue.

I'm still iffy about getting this game, do all the PvP end up the same? (in terms of first using magic, then melee and probably healing)...I don't know. This game does look epic i'm just owrried about getting it and playing it. :/ Help meee! :( I disowned WoW because it became too simple and each expansion just adds a new rat race.

Most high level fights consist of using anything you have at your disposal usually. Often magic is thrown around but also the use of archery and melee. Some characters focus heavily on just archery and melee with great results (guild: robin hood is one good example) while others focus heavily on just throwing around magic (z5 has some chars like that). A good character will use all of it and use spells to get away quickly or close the gap or spells to blind his opponents as well as melee+archer

I figure :P It just seemed like magic was the primary choice for anything when seen, because of all the magic throwing, it made me curious if thats what it boiled down to. Right on, definitely love the strategic and in-depth gameplay and not have it be a cakewalk (and mostly be player-driven)...going to have to get it a.s.a.p and hopefully the pc will run it. @CrimReaver19: Don't expect Darkfall to be WoW in any kind. Darkfall is rude, nasty and you'll hate it. But thats the point where you can also start to love it. If you can't, don't waste your time.

I just bought the game a few days ago, and I've started playing it but I find it very hard, I've tried killing some goblins but I find it very difficult to do. I've died at-least 5 times in 1 hour of playing, and I haven't even finished the first quests to collect the axes, I'll get one or two but just die a few minutes later... Any tips for me? Possibly it's related to my low FPS (Turned down the graphic settings and get about 20 FPS on average) or possibly my average 400 ping.

@Sunderland4745 400 ping together with 20 fps sounds awful :/ Did you buy the right client? (EU if your in europe or NA if your in america)

If you're dying a lot then just remember to use the bank often. One thing that could be smart would be to just gather a lot of timber and sell it so you can get some money for items or make them yourself.

yeah, I've got the right client (NA). but I've greatly improved over the last day, I've managed to increase my FPS to about 30+ and my ping have gotten significantly better. I've started an ork and I'm still having trouble killing the goblins (I've killed 4, collecting the damned axes is the hard part to me, since they don't always have axes and they usually travel in groups) but I'm sure I'll finish it soon. I'll be sure to use your crafting guide after I finish the starter quests :)

@Sunderland4745 I'm glad to hear it's going better. It will be a little rough in the beginning but it should get easier and easier. Try to find someone to do the goblin spawn with so you can tackle them all quicker. Try to get some arrows and just shoot the goblins from far away so you wont have to risk being swarmed by them all at once in melee.

@Ninogan Thanks, Ninogan. That's how it is in Fallen Earth too, and it's one of the things I really like there. There's a lot about DF that appeals to me. I get closer to buying it all the time. Income tax returns come back soon, so....I might just be seeing you in game! =D

I played a little Fallen Earth myself. It's pretty nice. Their crafting system is a lot better than Darkfall's to be honest.

The one thing the video didnt tell is, getting to the point where your good takes forever, and getting there is hard if you cant find the right areas to skill up at. so Many Dick Mouths everywhere in Darkfall,and so little safe spots. but a Amazing game that has little competition at what it offers.

with your gtx295, does the game stutter with shadows enabled, despite a smooth fps reading? for example, in the woods, strafe left to right and notice suttering in the framerate, despite a reading of 48fps? you have to be in an area that reads below 60fps to notice this. it happens in my sli rig and forces me to play with shadows off, which sucks.

The game itself has awesome concepts that you wow generation probably cant get an idea at first. But if youre looking for something different, realistic and player driven definetaly try this game out.

I played it for about 3 months but in my opinion the game is far from completed and has quite some flaws like no skill cap etc... I have to say that since I quit there has been 2 expansions so Im not really sure if the game significantly improved... gonna resub by summer anyway.

@SomaXu It wouldn't make a difference, people switch off ambience most of time, it is pvp game after all. However lately I play DF to music from Last Samurai, Gladiator and Metallica SM ^^

I run a intel i7 920, geforce gtx 295, 4gb of ram (supposed to be 8 but having problems with the sticks), asus p6t deluxe v2 motherboard and windows 7 x64.

I also fraps to another harddrive. A velociraptor.

@Ninogan isnt the I7 920 a triple channel processor? myI7 940 is so yours should be too. try to get 12 giga you'll see a very nice change in performance I think
