  • This is all sorts of wrong and made me facepalm. Cover True, 3 to have a competitive list? wwwrrrrrrroooonnnnngggg. So wrong it hurts. Predator with TL LC at 10 points cheaper can out range it easy. Long story short, 2 Vinds can work. 3 over specialized.

  • You should have mentioned that from a penetrating hit, 5 of the 6 options puts the tank out of action for at least 1 turn :-P

  • @CommanderMJ Allso another thing to point out Hunter killer missles can kinda ignore some of the cover save and Take out Vindicators, A Thunderfire would still have the Tech marine which can prove useful in its own right (Taken out Nid Carnavex with one Go go Power Pack! with 2 Power Fists!) Among other things. Vindicators have Less Survivibility then stated hear. Its nice if the other guy ignores such things or the Vindicator itself. or hes just messing around.

  • @commanderMJ I beleve the person who GOT the destroyed weapon result (Aka if you have the Vidicator and I got the destroyed weapon remark I GET to pick what weapon is destroyed not you. Thus AKA I pick the main gun. Your Main Vidicator demolisher cannon is dead now you still have the storm bolter but w/e.

  • @commanderMJ No Problem. Personaly I think this guy suggesting 3 Vindicators is ... dumb. Pretty short range. You can have a other nice units out there. Heck thunderfire cannon is 100 points gives +1 cover save and provides alot of nice bonus (Scouts with camo cloaks can get 2+ cover save) So try the 3 Vindicator. Tacticly yes you play anything smartly. But Vindicators when i play get poped no matter what and tend to die pretty fast vs me (I dont phear em at all honestly)

  • @ThakoManic an excellent point that you make there thunderfires are indeed a lot better value for pointswith a greater range that they can fire.

  • @commanderMJ Agreed Rather have a thunderfire cannon (100 points) and some other things then a Vindicator. There short range. Beefy true but. Thunderfire cannon can beat up infantry longer range have more use for the team (+1 Cover save for all in X With a scout squad It can be used very well) the Vindicator has a nice template but its short range / Bounced/ can miss the Target. Lascannon Predator tank or Land Raidor or something is more useful Anti Tank/Support (Transport and such)

  • @ThakoManic that is completely true I would personally use a whirlwind over a vidicator or even spend the points on another tactical squad to grab those vital objectives.

  • @commanderMJ Agree A Wirlewind with its Long distance fireing can hide and contiue to shoot with a Vindicator your kinda sitting at one spot hoping to not be shot at or get close enough. I wouldnt mind spamming Vindicators in Apocolypse enough can survive to get to the enemy to do alot of damage. but in a normal game? Eh. I Like to split my combat squads into 5 with there Special rules on the SM if its an objectivemap. Then again I use Pedro which makes my sternguard scoring units.

  • @ThakoManic An excellent tactic Mr Pedro is has arguably got the best special rule of any spacemarine character as an army containing a large number of sterngaurd units that can easily take and hold objectives is most certainly a force to be reckond with.

  • @commanderMJ i tend to run with 2 Stern guard squads. (20 of em) which can combat tactics into 4, 5 man groups, Reguardless I tend to pick units that can do multible roles/support each other (Thunder fire works well and can support scouts or other units I want in hiding with cover save) So maybe 2 Vindicators + Thunderfire would be better then 3 Vincicators. But I rather skip the Vindicators thats just me tho.

  • @ThakoManic Personally I agree with skipping vidicators I have never personally used them but seeing how bad 6 or so of them performed in an apocalypse game has put me right off them.

  • @commanderMJ Hehe Ya Sometimes in Apocalypse whatever you use just gets slamed on. A Warlord titan or something can just go "Target sighted" and blast em out of the sky. Personaly I like the transport Baneblades with 40 Transport slots and 20 Fireslots? with powerful lascannons/vulcane gun? Ya love it. Can fill them with devestators or some heavy weapon teams and such.

  • @ThakoManic It really does vary a lot I tend to play apoc, 500, 2500, 1500 or 1000 (sometimes 2000)

  • @commanderMJ Ah And your personal Fav? I Tend to like 1750/2500 Lareg but no Apoc. Had to many downfalls in Apoc personaly (Like me blowing up a ork player on turn 1 before he even got to go. made me think wtf was the point?)

  • @ThakoManic my fave game is probably 2500pts as there are still plenty of models on the borad with the slow pace of an apocalypse game.

  • I got a question on a tactic ive been comeing up with since i play blood angels my vindicators are fast vehicles so would it be smart in kill point missons to drive my vindactors up the board so they have to chose to shoot at my assault marines i deepstrike or my advanceing vindictors what do you think? My assault marines are very good at destorying any vehicles with there melta guns the turn the deep strike meaning they would have to shoot ethier assault marines or my vindicator with infantry

  • Can you ram troops with vehicles? It would seem that badass dozer blade on the vindicator would excel at that!

  • Is this video Pre-5th edition? None of this is making much sense to me. So when your opponent moves up to the objective, 3 or 6 inches away to either side, your Vin is useless because LoS is blocked by the rock formation...That is to say, if you even get that table edge to deploy on. You might not even get to pick your starting zone. If your opponent is packing enough "heavy resources" to reliably nuke an AV13 vehicle first turn, you need to find someone new to play.

  • i use my single vindicator to draw the attention away from my land raider with terminators+sicarius, so pretty much as cannon feed....

    i know that it's totally stupid, but it always works and i get the land raider across the field --> fun with the termies!

  • I play blood angels, and if you employ land raiders as dedicated transports, then you can use 3 vindicators AND they get away as fast!!!!!

  • Running 3 Vindicators is how i just built my new Black templar list. The reason is i can take 2 Land raider crusaders as troop transports:) Run Straight down the table with 3 Vins hiding behind Blessed hull 14 armor land raiders. The reason i am doing this is from Imperial guard being so over powered. Russ armor 14 front 13 side most shoot large blast templates St 8 Ap 2 ALL over 60" RANGE!! SM armor save is useless. Also the D3 Large blast templates Missile tank they have. Horrible!

  • You can have 3 Vindicators and a Land Raider if you want. The Land Raider just needs to be counted as dectated transport. And if you want to have eve more firepower. Just add 3 Land Speeders (eiter Typhoon or double Melta or anything) and you are all ready. Please respond if I am wrong.

  • 3 vindicators? Dude...no. *shakes head* 1 of them, sure, they're nice...but a predator can lose 2 guns and still be useful, this thing can only use 1. Say I get a weapon destroyed on all three, that's it. 375 points down the drain.

  • @Spjungen thats not always true... My BT 1750 point list has 3 vindicators and when they get weapon destroyed they turn into mobile battering rams. in other words, they roam the table tank shocking anything they can get at.

  • @Chaoskiller34 A predator can do the same, only it has three guns instead of one. Personally, I just think the vindicator's too much of a high-risk, high-reward vehicle. Sure, that demolisher cannon is nice, but it's only 24'', and you won't always be able to find such ideal cover to hide it in. I would much rather have a Russ, with range 72'', a gun that's just as capable against pretty much all infantry, AND three other guns, and of course it's still a battering ram.

  • Nice Tactics, I really should invest in one. I think another tactic you could use is have a techmarine follow it around to fix if it's weapon is destroyed or unimmobilise them in case of an emergency evacuation. I think you could work with 1 if you wanted to. also, is that a converted vindicator or an older one.

  • i do believe that u can not fire an ordance wepon if you moved that turn. so hiding then jumping out and shooting in one turn is not possible. unless ive greatly misread the rules

  • @soruze That all depends on what army you are playing, even chapters. For example, the Black templar can add power of the machine spirt to a vindicator. and so it can move up to 6 inches and still fire.

  • @karlscooter1 they get the fluff of the weapondry but when its weapons not as much vehicles rly the salamanders get the well crafted cause they lack recruits and some skill but they got the craft

  • @sam199166 Ordance weapons can be fired even if you move 6 inches cause they are just another weapon. IF you fire them as Ordinance Barrage, Then you can't move before shooting. Barrage can also be fired without line of sight i believe. Space marine Power of machine spirit fires an additional weapon at BS 4, BT only BS 2

  • I've never seen a 3 Vindicator list. You could still get Land Raiders in the list by putting terminators in them and making them dedicated elite transports. Still, I think the Vindicator is an overrated tank. Too many weaknesses. Gets exploded in assault. Only 24" range. You're right to plant it on an objective though. Keep a techmarine handy to repair any weapon destroyed results.

  • i play vindicators as a sweeper sort of unit, i move my preds up taking out all anti tank units then move in for the kill with vindicaors

  • I usually play my vindicator as a kimd of troop support. If my opponent has large squads, chances are they are going to be grouped pretty tightly. I just pull my vindicator onto the table with a tactical squad or something. That large blast template will take out the bulk of the squad. Its also useful on swarm armys. Many a time i've used this method to wipe out entire squads like genestealers

  • But if youre enemy has to choose between my vindi and my dreadnougt, he always is gonna be shot at by a heavy weapon. Just have something that distracts fire (even if its the vindi itself: youre other heavy's will fire without being fired at (LotR SBG trolls :O) ). And if something is more threatning than a vindi (Terminators closing in) it will fire that demolisher! +Imperial Fists are natural siegers so the Vindicators fit me perfectly (and oh, their awesome). Still, good, usefull tactics!

  • i think predators is a good idea, especially if they are annhilator pattern. its cheaper than a devastator squad, and more accurate. the only downside is that a single melta can take it down with one shot, if you are unluckey.

  • try putting a splatter of blood red on the bottom of the seige sled on the front, looks well good

  • Unless otherwise stated, like the Valkyrie's Hellstrike Missiles, it's a krak missile that you roll 2D6 and pick the highest. It's also one shot. It fucking sucks, you can just take a Vendetta.

  • I was expecting a Vindicator to have front armour 14, its meant to be the extreme siege weapon and it only has armour 13, even if it has the 3 feet thick amn dozer blade in it.

    Its rare for my experience to find terrain to protect my vehicles most of the time..

    If its an annihilation game then players can simply avoid the vindicator.

  • I looked at the Space Marine Codex. The Demolisher Cannon doesn't show it having a template. Hoe do you know that you use it?

  • notice that this vindicator has a the bullldozer blades from the leman russ kit and has the gun from the original vindicator model. Which suggest this particular model was built before the new kit came out but after the new rhino was released since it has the new rhino chassi

  • Im assembling my first vindicator ( and vehicle ) now ( bought it cause of this video) and im having a assembling problem. That armor that you have to glue on the side doesnt seem to fit. How have you guys solved that or am i the only 1 that had that problem?

  • Land Raiders are just as destructive and valuable, screening your Vindicator with a valuable Land Raider is stupid, if youre gonna screen with other vechiles, use rhinos, they ar eonly 50 points each, and teh same size, using 250 points worth of Tank is really stupid.

  • WayOfChaos, vehicles can move and still shoot heavy weapons. This includes tanks, bikes, walkers, etc.

    You can also take storm bolter/hunter seeker to buffered against weapon destroyed

  • one thing i advise for 3 of them is purchase a techmarine with servitors. if you spread them out they can get all vindicators, and on a 2+ u can fix the wep destroyed or immobilized result and act as normal that turn.

  • ye the vindicator does. according too the space marine codex it does. alot of people think as you do but if you look on page 144 or the summary sheet you will see at the bottom it is a barrage weapon. it will not say it in the vindicator rules but it does in the summary. i play vindicators and i have to point this out to basically every player i face. not sure what it was in old code but it is a barrage in the new codex, not sure why friz missed that out...

  • I agree, i havnt seen Vindicators with barrage before, arent Barrage weapons meant to be Artillery/indirect fire weapons, i dont think a Vindicator shoots shells in an arc.

  • Well.. i only take 1 and i haven't lost yet.... the key is keep it in reserves and bring it when you can... bring it closest to your enemy as you can... first of it can come on and shoot. AND secondly it draws fire so if you have to move infantry thru tank heavy areas then they will shoot the vin rather than the infantry.

    Boring tactic, heres a more fun one, surround your vindicator with 2 empty rhinos, rush them forward at top speed positioning the rhinos between heavy weapons and the vindicator and deploy smoke, take deamonic possesion if ur chaos. Then have fun the next turn :D

  • I hate to go against you Fritz. ( Because you are an ELDAR GOD) ( and a 40k legend) But no matter how many Vindicators you have on the field, they aren't a threat.

    They are 1 HUGE flaw, there 24 inch range. Even if your enemy comes to you they are going to come prepared.

  • I play one with my wolves wins 13 draws 4 losses 6, i just keep it in reserve then bring it in. Oponents normally too scared of blood claws to notice it :P

  • you have to roll for reserves after turn 2 every turn, so pray to god that if you wanted this tactic, your rolls are pretty low on every reserve roll

  • Aswell as what you said there is the line of sight arc!

    Think about it with the dmg table (pen);

    1- May not shoot (useless 1 turn)

    2- May not move or shoot (even more useless 1 turn)

    3- Wepon destoryed (might as well be blown up)

    4- Imobalized (Can no longer pivit so it can see, seemsing it only has a 45 degree arc, it may aswell be useless for the game)

    5+ - Boom

    so basically anything but a 1 or 2 = dead

  • great tactics. kinda similar to the devastator tactics (placing objectives in front of them). but you didn't explained why I need 3 of them. seems to work well with 1.

  • also the ordinance is very auqued but you can get one of in the first turn you kill more than if it suvives as they need a wie range of close opponients cool tactics tho

    i don´t like vindis... to easy to avoid

    stay out of range, spread troops out or

    ignor at first... when they come close take em out
