  • can this work the same way for the game engine

  • thanks!

works fine for water too, but how do i get to be more realistic? (as water)

  • How would you go about making a game like colorcube? like making the cube turn as it does because I've been trying to use torque and it's been over turning and not stopping after 1 turn. Thanks!

  • Do you know how I can make a glass sphere in the game engine? Because it seems a bit different. Great tutorials!

  • renders ultra slow for me :D

  • @gPaHaTaTa It should render extra slow. It has to do a bunch of extra processing to make the glass work.

  • is there a way to get glass to be transparent without haveing to render it :o.. cuz for what iam animateing i need to see inside his glass helmet to animate his face

  • @1ard send the helmet to another layer?

  • @TheUnderDo6s =/... yeah tht would work too but id really likle to be able to se the object and see trough iot XD if anim8or can do tht i dont see why blender cant =] is basically what iam saying

  • @1ard u could click z for wireframe

  • @TheUnderDo6s Whats the point of using the layers? I've never been able to figure out what they're for. (I'm an Advanced Noob at Blender)

  • thank you! this definitely helps

  • oh damn, i had made a model of a wine glass, cuz i like glass models, but i forgot how to make it look like glass, well i remembered the transparent part but i forgot to make it reflective also, so thats why i watched this video but anyway it actually looks like 100% real, if it werent in a fake box you would think its a picture lol

  • Tutorial starts at 0:53.

  • yay no advertising! oh wait.. nevermind

  • how do you do his in 2.53?

  • @ZacVrono right

  • SWEET ! ! ! MATERIAL LOOKS PERFECT

  • disco ball

  • hi hw r u?can you teach us plz about blender 2,5 aph2,thank you

  • @mosta110 just find and use exact same settings

  • he's a kid calm down about his voice xD if anything its awesome that he knows this info and is sharing it with others

  • love the tutorials but the voice no offense has this naisily thingy... did you have a cold?

  • lol @ 6:47 "that little little subscribe button.... that BIG orange button."

    Nice tutorial.

  • LOOKS LIKE DISCO BALL

  • @kingdomkey1412 it does!

  • how do you make glass in the BGE?

  • lol i did that with the monkey and subsurfed it and it looked kewl :D

  • your voice is annoying

  • your tutorials are awesome and your voice isnt too high or annoying =P

  • wow stfu sac of shit

  • Agreed, his voice IS annoying..

  • @TheKosay i don't really think it's annoying, it's just a little higher voice than normal to me..

  • The tutorial is very helpful, but your voice is very fucking annoying...

  • y can't u make de dvd free

  • Great tutorial series, only something is little wrong with the shadow. Glass looks real but it is not transparent. I played with alpha channel to smooth the shadow and it looks good.

  • whats the price of that dvd?

  • 10 bucks

  • oke thank you

  • i can do it in a circle :(

  • Yo, super3boy, what exactly do you use as your screen capture software?

  • You can use Camstudio, a good one,

or Hypercam, not free, but the YouTube standard.

  • oh...I've heared about hypercam, but I use camstudio... I want a new one tho...

    HMMMMM

  • You can use Camtasia Studio, its a bit pricey, but worth it, definetely.

  • hm...

    yea, i'll check it out

  • oh news yay! great...

  • ummmm hey, i'm looking to make ice cubes...does anyone have a tutorial because i cant find one

  • Super3boy Eleventh Tutorial

  • exit any render preview by hitting ESC - guys

  • how did your render so fast?

  • Surely I hope you are joking... because his rendered rather slowely. Mine renders about 2 times as fast as his.... if yours goes any slower, just stop now... when you get to animation and particles, it could take days to render a simple scene.

  • thats not that fast lol

  • oh i c, the last one, yh that is fast:S

  • he probably edited out the video of the rendering

  • ha ha I wish I had found this months ago it tok me forever to figure out but good tut

  • in my render it still looks the same, the preview is glassy, but its not in the render.

  • it wont render, its just black :(. and then blender closes when i try to close the render

  • the reason why blender closes when you exit the blender render is cause you clicked the X too many times. but you have to wait to the render finishes before you can exit the render. same with animate. wait until it gets all of the frames

  • 1 in is not like see through any one know how to do

2 how do i import a blender file so like i made something in one blender file but i want to put it in with another thing in a diff file

  • You may need to export your file in .obj format

  • thanks

  • It is a tutorial lol stfu

  • lawls its troo xD

  • ROFL! Monkey glass...

  • I've been trying to use this method to make a simple window, but the frame turns to glass as well. Why is that? (frame is off to the side on part of the glass yet.)

  • If the frame around the glass is the same object then it will turn to glass to because the materials settings are for the whole object.

  • put the frame on a different layer?

  • yeah I felt stupid that I forgot that....thanks for replying anyway!^^

  • Tab from Edit mode to Object mode to create the glass as a new object. Hit "n" key to bring up "transform object" window and name your object in left hand field that names the type of mesh you used. Gryllus has a blender.blend that changes your default window where your list of objects remain in view for better control. (Like Adobe photoshop has for layers.)

  • To move something to a different layer, select it when out of Edit mode and press "M" on your keyboard then select the layer you would like to move it to.

  • **help**

when i click on the material icon it has nothing under it .

    sorry beginner.

    can someone reply asap please.

    thanks

  • You have to click add new and then the stuff should be there

  • Thanks, lol i figured it out after a few hours

  • just select the object. press f5. then pres the buton ray transparency. then drag the slide that says fresnel on it higher for more transparency. light can go through.

    hope i helped

  • how can i make a transparent object that can actually let lights go through it

    anyone? :S

    Good tut though...

  • dude the subscribe button is yellow

    lol good job tho

  • I go to render it never Works iT Just stays Black

  • looks like a disco ball if you leave it at set solid

and it looks really cool if you add more light sources and change their color

  • when i tied doing this, it crashed my computer O_O

  • woops!

  • YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!! XD

    by ragazzomorto

  • it's pretty much the entire point of using the program.

  • a great use for water!

  • It creates the scene so it can be viewed outside the program and so people without blender can see it.

  • lol, you changed the IOR to 1.51 and that's EXACTLY the right amount for glass

  • Snell would be proud XD

  • lol

  • when u said blender dvd that made me think... blending glass in a blender ^_^

  • it takes a long time to render

  • this was made in 2007, if u listen to his newer vids, he sounds about 17ish

  • Metal its not transparent...

  • that was good thanks

  • Hey How Much Will It Be? Or Is for Free

  • free

  • i dont think i could listen to this voice for three hours, but a great tutorial substance wise

  • umm... when I do the ray mirror and ray transparent and change the alpha I don't get a clear, glassy look. Instead I get a light blue sphere. I followed all the directions too. Do you think its the version?

  • are you sure you had the large box or "room"

  • that happend too me too, but after looking closer, i realised it was the backround and because the sphere was transparent it looked blue.

  • its actually a yellow button but good tutorial

  • it dosent worked to me :(

  • Thanks mate very useful tutorial but how long did it take me to find a zeeky on my keyboard .Hit the zeeky Thanks again.

  • thanks man :)

  • The subscribe button is yellow not orange!! =P

  • I guess it was orange the old days

  • i remember good times good times..

  • the blender version is different! Update!

  • It was made a long time ago!

  • Great! very clear instruction

  • Whats the version of blender? The material tab looks diffrent

  • Never mine, I did =D

  • Wow, I just did mine....

    It was awesome!!!

    One question...

Is it possible to save it as a picture or something?

  • You render it?

    Save rendered image (F3)

  • thnx

  • yes you can go into uv image editor go into that little tab and press save as

  • Ohh boy! Thanks dude! You've really helped me! I was creating 4 glasses and I didn't know how can I make glass, so I found your tutorial man, thanks a lot!!! See Ya! 'xD

  • wow it doesnt work if you have a computer with little ram but this tut is awesome!!!

  • thanks super3boy.... :)

  • Thanks Alot :):) 5 Stars!

  • mine came out perfect

  • the shadow doesnt look real

  • yea thats true...but who cares! awsome!

  • but, if i want that the shadow looks like really glass shadow, i mean that shadow looks like a normal object shadow, but is different obuously in a glass. My English is a little strange jajaja thanks for all the help....

  • lol it works in 3DS MAx ,too.

    Great tutorial!

  • Very nice, thank you!

  • i used this tutorial and his explode one andmade an exploding glass sphere, it looks AWESOME! I LOVE UR TUTORIALS!

  • i can learn blender finally

  • Glass Sussane is Glassy

  • thanks, really helpful.

  • mine looks like a frkn human embryo >_>

  • glass monkey looks awesome

  • I now know how create a 'room'. I also now know that you can scale by point numbers. Also now know about the 'material' and 'transparency' panels. Not sure what IOR means though. Thanks for the tutorial. Keep up the good work :)

  • IOR means "Index of Refraction". It means how much light gets bent inside the object.

  • is it bad if your glass orb had three eggs inside it lol? i have no clue why but it does

  • thats it reflecting the corner of the room :). just move it down a little or somewhere else. i was a little confused by that at first :).

  • Very Helpful

  • the subscribe button's yellow

    but nice tute

  • umm.. my buttons are changed around, but i did get everything like you said, but the sphere went completely blue just when i put alpha in 0, why is that ?

  • I think it's because you didn't add a cube, or it got deleted.

  • How do you apply the material to only one of your objects?

  • Just add a new material.

  • WOW thanks just got blender and im amazed at the things it can do

  • srsly. and once you get started and learn a little bit, it's pretty easy, too o.O

  • When he hits tab, what does he click to make the object bigger?

  • you have to hit "s" key to make objets bigger or smaller

  • U really need to fix ur audio

I almost watched ALL ur tuts. thx al lot

  • wow i crashed blender!

  • haha me 2!

  • Two things. 1) Instead of using Z transparancy, standard procedure for creating glass is to use a combination of Fresnel (This is the main one) and Fac (blending factor) in the Ray Transp Panel. This causes the glass to absorb more light at more direct viewing angles, and be less transparent when viewed at an extreme angle, as you would expect. 2) In order to have the glass not cast a solid shadow on the cube, TraShadow needs to be enabled in the CUBE'S material settings.

  • TraShadow on the Shaders tab needs to be enabled for the shadow-receiving material, at least for 2.46 on my box. Good point about using Fresnel.

  • omg these are so amazing thank you!

  • is it possible to get the light to shine through that marble? Me thinks it is difficult

  • Enable "TraShadow" on the shader of the material in the room box, that'll lighten the shadow of the glass ball. If you want caustics you'll want to use Yafray or export to some other external renderer that supports photon mapping.

  • Whoops, that was supposed to be a reply to ParapaDrifter. Sorry!

  • hey super3boy, thanks alot.

  • Thanks for the help.

  • Thanks dude, really helped me with Blender. :) Slowly I'm getting into it.

  • i'm making a ruby and i seem to have a problem. when i do all the measurements it seems foggy how would i make it transparent like a real gem but still with all the color?

  • Hey Super3Boy! I was wondering if its possible to use textures in the game engine. plz message me do not comment back. reason is i would have probley forgot what video i posted the coment on so yea. thanks!

  • You know, you can just press the keypad button: 0 to switch to camera view.

  • i noticed youre using xp now?? i thought you had vista

  • I sometimes switch computers. I never had vista anyways. That would be a theme.

  • dude ur great! and ur tutorials RULE! and they help alot!

  • you give hope

    to the hopeless

now tell me that was not the most epic comment you have received...well atleast today

  • Thanks bro. Was getting tire of having to export to Bryce to render in glass form. I do suggest you start using two views in your videos (we can enlarge it via a button). Have the main windo be the full screen while the smaller Picture In Picture view is the one that follows the mouse.

     Well done.

  • Only so much you can do on youtube.
