  • Singapore rocks? We didn't get PR? Dude, you're way too egoistic. You seriously think your country where the minorities are marginalised and your overcrowded MRTs and humid country is a great place to life? WOW! THe level of national propaganda in your National education must be working fine in that pre-NS enlisted head of yours. Fuck Singapore! It's a controlling society. You guys even have 150 brothels in Geylang! And you singaporean males are short changed! You have 1000 migration each month.

  • This is singapore:One Nation under Lee: A Singapore story - The despotism of Lee Kuan Yew - Full on Youtube.

  • Singlish FTW :)

  • everytime when i come back from overseas, the feeling of seeing changi, the flyer, the cbd, mbs, its all so warming and welcoming. it is the kind of feeling when you've booked out of camp and you know that you are home.

  • @kelveto den gtfo! Singapore rocks!

  • @kelveto BS - It's a well known fact that British and US English are dialects created by Singaporean pioneers heading out to other continents to find new kopitiam.

  • @LoveMeLoveMyDog80

Oh, I didn't know Singaporeans are stupid too. Take a good look of Diary of a Singaporean Mind and Temasekreview

It's a FINE CITY indeed. You fuckers can't even sell chewing gum and are conscripted. LMAO. Your country has no natural resources let alone nature.

  • @kelveto So much vitriol... Looks like someone didn't get their PR.

  • I hope singapore declears war on the weather

  • The weather is like FUCK... but yeah! You're awesome.

  • Another reason why Singapore is awesome? U can put ur shoes outside the door n no one will steal them :P

  • Singapore's international reputation is sad and shameful, that is a fact. Human Rights is not, nor has it ever been a priority. Continued Barbaric floggings with the torture of thousands of men and boys annually by prison perverts is court ordered as commonplace,, as eating noodles.

The dictatorship of Singapore never counted on the Internet. People know the truth about the government, but it is like many will wear this sick facade, and will defend against the truth endlessly and futilely.

  • True blue singaporeans will only understand what other true blue singaporeans are saying. Our very own language

  • Not really wanting to suddenly barge M'sia in this but... can someone tell me the difference between Singlish & Manglish? BTW, Sam you're one damn awesome, hensem guy!

  • @KairiShinigami The name has it, Manglish incorporates more Malay words in its spoken form because majority of the M'sians are Malays which is a known fact. Singlish is on the other hand incorporates more Hokkien style of dialect in its spoken form. In M'sia, people hardly use 'sia', even though we may incorporate Chinese dialects in our spoken form, it'll most probably be derived from Cantonese. Phrases like 'yumcha' and stuff. Both type of 'English' is similar, but it ain't the same.

  • @whatsgoingon92 BUT I SPEAK NORMAL ENGLISH not much singlish in mine

  • @generalmartin1 So...? I don't speak Manglish myself as well. I'm a M'sian by nationality, but I spent most of my time abroad.

  • SIA = Sam is Angmoh

  • eww singapore is disgusting

  • @tazza521 So are you...

  • i realised everything behind u is in focus except 4 urself.might wanna adjust ur focus b4 recording.otha than that, awesome vidz!proud to be a sporean siaaa. woohoo

  • I am proud to be singaporean too... +)

  • EVERY VIDEO WITH SINGLISH HAS A DEBATE ABOUT SINGLISH! JUST STOP!

  • really?

  • I lv singapore too

  • Is it true that poor Singaporeans speak Singlish?

  • @kelveto That is rubbish. Singlish can be spoken by all Singaporeans. Though I am from an upper-middle class, I still feel that Singlish should exist. Those people whom are confident of their grasp of the English language shouldn't fear Singlish from diluting the standard of English we have here.

The government has changed Singapore so much so that it resembles nothing like it used to. Now, how are we going to identify ourselves as Singaporeans anymore? The only thing left the same is Singlish.

  • Comment removed

  • @kelveto No. It is simply a hybrid of English and Hokkien. It is a mesh of the 2 language. It is quite easy to understand once you get to hear it for yourself.

  • @kelveto ummmm not really... it's a slang(:

  • @Turok678 not all malaysians hate english its just you ....

  • 84 ppl are not singaporeans:)

  • you dislike this video, i dislike you

  • fun fact: when the video started it was 5pm, at the end it was 6:15pm (look at the clock behind)

  • haha YE WE LOVE SINGLISH :))) HOKKIEN AND ALL THAT .

  • @xJestiex SINGLISH ISH AWESHUMMM :DD

  • @Turok678 u fail at English

  • @t0116187z yes We Malaysian Do Not like To speak Enligsh or spell it..

  • @Turok678 Don't bring in all the Malay people in this because you are not all of them, you are just one.

  • Non-comunicatable = Uncominicative

  • 84 ppl dont understand sia leh loh theory

  • i hate the people who dislike this

  • @sushipackdushi I hate you!UmadBro?

  • @generalmartin1 Then i hate you

  • Singapore is one of the few Asian country that does not regard themselves inferior to other big land (at least most Singaporeans hold this regard). This I am proud of.

  • lol you cant even spoke sial properly

  • @Turok678 LOL, and you can't even spell properly.

  • yeah cuz we malaysian dont like English so much.. that why i dont care if i spell wrong anything

  • seriously...i'm a hongkonger......but i love Singapore......it's just that i don't find cantonese non-communicatable.......

  • i love singlish.

  • YOUR SO awesome :D .

  • I think sia orignates from the word 'sial' which is an offensive word in malay language. For Malays, sial is a word used to express something/someone as bad luck, hell. So when the Chinese tries to say it, the word 'sial' becomes 'sia' (idk why..). Now everybody including the malays say sia instead of sial. SIALLLAAHHH!!! hahahah

  • @chubbyla Yes, sial is negative in Malay. I dkw Chinese people use it so liberally. They just don't know what it means.

  • I just sat through an Amos Yee and a Steven Lim video and I just wanna say that you sir, are the reason why Singaporean youtubers haven't been banned yet... :P

  • dude the guitar at the end is sweeeet! great video.

  • Just stick to your music, you have a good voice... Don't ruin that career from videos like this. I do have to admit your video on SoSingaporean is indeed interesting... Awkward, but interesting no less.

  • @RyanMonray hey ryan, stop spamming with comments. we get it; you don't like this video. now buzz off.

  • OMG THE WEATHER!?You've got to be kidding me.I'm literally speechless for this point. It's worst than pathetic, it's like you can't think of any other things you like about Singapore and just throw in weather,& my god,of all the things you could have chosen, you picked weather-.- You could've chosen..hmm..well i guess there's really nothing.Either way,all that you have mentioned simply adds to the facade of the Singaporean environment. No offense to singaporeans.Cause there are some awesome ones.

  • @RyanMonray I'm Singaporean, but I've lived in Melbourne for 6 years now, and I actually miss the weather here!

  • @wilpathy I do have to apologize for all that i said yesterday... Was just so pissed at everything... But yea singapore weather is pretty sweet. Haha. I do miss the snow in the US though...

  • Hey ryan

  • Singlish is a derivative from english because the fundamental basis follows English closely. It is indeed an interesting language to foreigners, much like any other unique feature. Saying that it makes emphasizing, complaining and expressing emotions easier only applies to that. It's like saying an american man finding it easier to express his emotions in american english as compared to british english. These things you tell yourself are meaningless. It' just something to make you feel special.

  • The title caught my attention and i was expecting something really innovative and interesting. But really? Culture, Weather & Singlish is all you got? The diverse nature of the singaporean culture is definitely true. However, saying that they "understand each others cultures" is merely an aspiration, actually, it's more like a fairy tale ending. We have not grown to accept the culture, but instead grown to adapt. It's a massive difference. Oh don't get me started on singlish(but i will).

  • Singlish! U missed one word that is,'lor' haha!

  • i think "unfortunate" in singlish is "suay"

  • wah this fella damn patriotic SIA.. :P

  • hong kong!

  • == dude...u gotta visit malaysia if u honestly think that singapore is so awesome for the things u just described...granted...there are other things that makes singapore better...but it's a tweensy little bit offending that singaporeans are trying to take EVERYhing that make malaysians, well malaysian, and claim it as their own...and no i'm not only talking about the "unique" singaporean language...

but with all that is said and done...good vid...=)

  • @sarahnsk Hi, could you please tell me what exactly is "everything" that make malaysians unique that Singapore is stealing?

  • @saveltoros i wouldn't say stealing...cause alot of singaporeans now probably has malaysians roots...well duh...but things like bak kut teh or yee sang is definitely malaysian...idk if everyone there is claiming it's origins are singapore or not...but i rmb watching a programme on tv that said yee sang is frm singapore...which is...well not true...and a newspaper article about bak kut teh and some other stuff i cnt think of now...=/

  • Singapore Airlines la

  • errm... u say rain damm shiok tan wait ochad flood AGAIN how?

actually tat time wen i take MRT n then sekaly got problem dan u know wat driver say? for info of train service, pls log on to face book or tweeter.FTW!!!

  • Malaysian also talk like that wad

  • @crossborderz Hell no man. Malaysians make stronger emphasis with Malay rather than Chinese with the use of English that is... And most of the time... When a Malay word or phrase is added conjointly with an English sentence, it's usually used a vulgar manner, which to the majority is pretty normal.

  • @crazyweirdomimicers please...The thing is...i can't say you're wrong...but you're definitely not right either...and because Malaysia has a bigger variety of citizens we all emphasize strongly with both malay and chinese, depending on race...and we don't only use it for vulgarities which, i may add, is just plain rude of you to imply.

  • @sarahnsk Well sometimes it's not about the right or the wrong thing. It's about the smart thing :) Either way I still find Malaysians more Malay-inclined with their English than they care with Chinese.

  • @crazyweirdomimicers ...that makes no sense...the smart thing?? dude...i cnt even say anything to counter that because the smart thing doesn't apply to stating facts...when it comes to facts it's either is or not...and right now it's more like stuck in the middle...

but enough about my weird obsession with words...

forget the malay or chinese inclined english...(wow that was a weird sentence)

my problem is mostly on where you implied that we usually use our "rojak" language in a vulgar manner.

  • @crazyweirdomimicers coz u know...you made us sound barbaric...like we say a sentence without spouting out vulgarities................

  • like we *can't say a sentence.....etc.

  • 1.25... "even though i ONLYYYY got b3 for olvl english'.... I'm Better than u! i got a 9, greater than 3

  • nonononono... "That is really unfortunate" = "Suay"

  • ...ur thumbnail picture made me think u were that freak out kid's brother

  • "Oh that is very unfortunate" shud be "Wa u xia suey lor" den laugh le haha :00

dictionary is nothing but just a book!!

we speak words from our mind, not words from a book.

    period.

  • One thing i like about singlish is that it takes an ang mo a very long time before he/she can say singlish.
