  • This song helps me a lot, I've got a woman on my mind and finals week going on. I won't give up until it's over Ronnie, thanks for the advice.

  • Ronnie introduces this as a song from Galway yet 16+ years when I told a friend from Tuam that I'd been diagnosed as suffering (underlined) from DEPRESSION the unbelievalble response was " Oh, tha's just feeling sorry for yourself" !! What a remarkable medical insight! I wish I'd heard this song then! I've long since packed in Prozac etc in and found that songs like this ( and my wee Jack Russell, 'Mollie' ) have done me much more good ..been far better So, many thanks Ronnie/Dubliners !

  • I was wondering if someone could tell me the name of the lad in the pinkish top

  • @CSIS25 The guy singing? That's Ronnie Drew!

  • @boomerramone ohh thanks :)

  • im 17 years old i have heard dubliners the last 7 years, its so fun to see my friends face when they turn my ipod on :D

  • Im 44 years old, irish and proud, been through a lot of crap in my life.Recently had major s**t,this song helped me through it,think what you want, but sometimes songs like this make you think about life and how lucky some of us are,god bless and peace to all

  • the right song for my beloved Cardinals! Let´s go, Redbirds! Tonight, we make this very special season ending the way it´s supposed to end: With St. Louis celebrating.

  • Music is one way to express frustration, and is a nonviolent strategy to carry on the fight.MUSIC WITH A MESSAGE HAS THE POWER TO MOBILIZE !.Take care ADonovan43

  • Terrific!

  • this is going to be my bothy song.

  • love this song, its inspirational

  • god i needed this I discovered this at the exact right time in my life

  • Thanks so much. I'm so sad each time I hear Ronnie singing.

    Greetings from Corsica ~~~~ Dia

  • For those of you who would like to know who the Dubliners are, here are their names as they appear in this video:

Barney McKenna (seated, playing banjo), John Sheehan (fiddle), Jim McCann (guitar), Sean Cannon (guitar), Ronnie Drew (singing the song), Paddy Reilly (guitar), Eamon Campbell (guitar, mop of white hair!)

  • Thank u Ronnie for singing this. Top class, thanks.

  • ah boys you sent me away!...your pure quality, sitting in london rite now and heading home to ireland soon....and when i get back im getting to the dongeal shores, camping with the lads, few boozers and listening to yourselves....keep it up bai's!....much love...slan

  • One mans song can be another mans lyric of inspiration. Take care ADonovan43

  • I suffer from depression, and no matter how bad i get lately this song helps. Thank you Dubliners.

  • @98nh3609 Oh boohoo, I've been diagnosed with depression by several doctors and psychiatrists. It's not to it but your attitude, so as you might imagine, I can appreciate how you feel, but there's like I said, not to it but your attitude, so fight the good fight, and don't give up 'til it's over ;D

    Hang in there buddy ^-^

  • @Deniecu no need for that boohoo like a good man !

  • This is huge. And true to life as well as work in this age of blame and excuse. Your deeds are your own and life is unfair. Don't judge a man by the luck he encounters, but by his perseverance in dealing with the misfortune fate deals him. WIshing will change nothing but dealing with your problems head on will make you a better person.

  • Fantastic song, love it !!!! Great performance too!!!

Mr Ronnie Drew RIP.

  • listen to ye every day ronnie

    you will never be forgotten

  • Nice to see it's becoming so popular. Ronnie must be steering it from above.

  • Never heard this before today...but everyone should listen to it once a week at leastI Inspirational or wha'!!

  • Ronnie Drew R.I.P

  • Amen.

  • Divine Ronnie! Thanks for all.

  • Ronnie we are listenting too you, as we always have, gone for now but never ever forgotten

  • Out of all the work songs I have ever heard, this one seems to be one of the only ones that manages to awake something in me. Whenever I hear this, I get a deep sense of determination renewed within me, true values spoken by men who have experienced the world already. I only wish that people would start listening to this instead of Kanye West or Justin Beeber.

  • @dropkickeddubliners i agree 100%

  • @dropkickeddubliners Perhaps Justin Beeber had a failed life previously and his spirit told him not to give up till it was over - hence his terrible songs. Can't blame the kid for trying. He luck is bound to turn. roflcopter

  • @dropkickeddubliners wish all you may. i cant watch TV without some form of glorification of rap or pop music, at least in america. the mainstreaming of rap stars who are avowed criminals, and the reality crap on tv etc is one of many clear indications of americas fall.

  • @dbpgh like he said don't give up till its over, america will never fall as long as we got some good ole boys left!

  • @Drunkcox707 i strongly disagree with you.america has too many enemies, direct ones and those within who are nothing more than dregs.america started to fall about 15 years ago, now its at the point where it cant catch its balance.

  • @dropkickeddubliners I agree.....Love it!

  • Great Ronnie. He sounded great--this song fits his attitude so well.

  • great song

  • Fine song on a saturday or sunday night,Monday is a different story! Love this anyway lads!!

  • This song is very encouraging these days.

  • The Dubliners my fave Irish band

  • I love this song. It really helps right now while my mom is fighting cancer. Godspeed mom.

  • @hangnail94 youre right my mom fights it as well and this song helps indeed

  • @hangnail94 Good luck for your mom and you, all the best....

  • @hangnail94 i hope she is doing well

  • This should be your national motto; don't give up till it's over. It totally represends Ireland. Cheers, a patriotic Dutchie ;)

  • Ser at du er dansk:-) så behøvede jeg jo ikke forsøge mig på engelsk!! jeg elsker den sang også med Tørfisk, under alle omstændigheder, den sang har et budskab til os. Lev dit liv mens du har det

  • absolutely right. i love this song with its message

  • is this on DVD? When I was born the music off the Dubs was played beside my crib! Still cannot sing higher than bass as a lady! Grin.

  • Love you so much ;)

  • Didn't know this song, but a good sentiment, bit like "if at first you don't succeed, try try again"

  • yet another great song from Johnny Duhan . Well done Johnny !

  • ...i shall never give up listening to the dubliners, ronnie drew and luke kelly...they have made this world a better place to live in and shall always love ireland and these guys...

  • im 14 but i live my life by this song

  • An inspirational song for me during my struggle with alcohol!

Unfortunatly im back on the drink now ,so it dont mean a fuck!

  • don´t give up till it ´s over. klasse einfach nur klasse, und es berührt wenn man eh krank ist. nicht nur mir nem schnupfen.....danke...

  • like mrsinn said its positive and should inspire folk to dig their heels into life-work-and their own personal causes RIP ronnie youll never be forgotten brother

  • I like this because its positive.Rock on Ron.

  • Such a great song

But I cant help but notice the array of different amounts of hair and different beard shapes etc that have never before been seen since the seven dwarves :P

  • @Bithuige hahahahahaha funny comment. but love them anyway.

  • Don't give up till it's over!

Dieses Lied ist einfach nur wahnsinn!

-Don't give up till it's over- Sowas nenn ich mal ein Lebensmotto!

    The Dubliners 4 ever!!!!

  • Lest a young one who has prevailed through great trials can relate to the lyrics, this is a song for a Jack of all Trades and/or an older person. Well done lads. I shed tears every time this is played. Kleenex should sponsor this song.

  • Great tune

  • been through some hard times this year but your right dont give up till its over...

  • @crf250chris definitely man, keep your head up. your luck is bound to turn

  • the dubliners rock!

  • Ronnie Drew I miss you. RIP

  • The dubliners . Comme "Ossian " au pays de l'éternelle jeunesse" . Qui ont .ils donc "suivis ?" Many thank's !!!!

  • Johnny please please please could you add "It could happen to you" on youtube. I just fail to understand why you have not added this gem of a song already. Regards, A fellow Limerick man

  • 1:17 I didn't know James Camron knew how to play the fiddle .. sweet beard James.

  • the fiddle player is John Sheahan. James isn't and has never been a part of the Dubliners!

  • @k0ybe it was a joke.

  • All of you shut up arguing..just enjoy the music!

  • so say all of us.

  • Hahahahha

    Politics, really?

    Hahahahha

  • Thats the attitude! Never ever ever give up!

  • Do your propaganda elsewhere we want to listen to this song. You are ruining my dream of a cool glass of guinness and an evening listening to them in a smokey pub.

  • @KnorpelDelux Well said. I'll join you in that dream.

  • @johnnyDuhan Great! We meet in front of the pub then 8) I´m gonna pay for the first beer then 8D

  • @KnorpelDelux You must be an auld fella. 8d. What's that?

  • @johnnyDuhan A freakin smiley cant you see that 8D?! maybe the nose is missing..here you go -

  • @KnorpelDelux Get you now. Not big into smileys, though I do enjoy a good laugh.

  • @johnnyDuhan More like a reallife smiley i presume?

  • @KnorpelDelux You're German? Apologies for thinking you an old fella. You're only 19.

  • @johnnyDuhan Ha no problem. I just like irish music i think its for people of every age or what makes you think i am old?

  • @KnorpelDelux 8 D was 8 pennies in Ireland at one time (a long time ago) and you could buy a pint of Guinness for 8 D.

A mix up, also in your age. Have a good life & tell your friends about the song. And Don't Give Up till it's Over, as the song sings.

  • Cheers then and my friends told ME about the dubliners now we got another great band to talk about.

  • MAJORITY ASYLUM-SEEKERS PAY TRAFFICKERS AND USE FALSE PASSPORTS

"The asylum system is open to abuse, it is being abused, and has proven itself to be costly in terms of establishing the 'bona fides' of asylum seekers who manage to travel here."

said an Official Justice Dept. source

The majority of people who seek asylum in Ireland pay traffickers to get to Dublin using false passports.

  • SHUT UP you might be right with what you say and i did not say anything against it. Just understand that this should not be the place for this one problem. Enjoy the music write how much you like the Dubliners or leave and write your stuff elsewhere!

  • And so say all of us! This isn't the place for your bigoted rant, Waaeaa. Give it a miss and listen to my song sung by one of the least bigoted men I've met.

  • I am german. What do i care about your political problems. We got some ourselfs and so do many other nations. Write your stuff somewhere where people will listen to you because they care. Ireland might be a great country and im gonna visit it one day and saving it from bad influence is sure as hell something right to do but as i said...post your announcment somewhere where people might move something and react.

  • Show the bigotry - And if words of truth upset you so much, then perhaps written comments disrupt sound that enters your ears

    far too easily

OR you are not as interested in the song as you think....

And whats with the name dropping - as if i give a shit who you met or knew, I don't care if you met Jesus christ...Name-dropping simply says that the person whop does it has an inadequacy and places great stock in famous ppl - bcoz they want a piece if that fame themselves

  • I will write whatever i like. There are no rules as to what you can or cannot write.

I am Irish, I have every right to post comments relating to Ireland, more that you...you are GERMAN - I was born, bred and live here, you were not. So YOU shut up.

And perhaps you should learn some manners, do you tell people to SHUT UP wherever you go?

  • No but i think in your case its really something that needs to be done. You spammed the whole fuckin commentlist now. And of course you are aloud to write what ever you like (actually you are not) but perhaps the word german made you even angrier. So ill be quite now and hope you be quite now too because as it seems you still dont get the point here. Those comments just ruin the mood of people trying to have some unbiased fun here with the song.Guys like you talk about imigrants on a funeral too

  • if you are really interested in the music - then you would have ignored the comment and listened to it.

But you are not, and you are so full of bile you had to make several comments to it.

And typical leftist comment - replying to your nonsense is not SPAM ....it is replying to your nonsense....as well as your friend Duone

  • LoL what tells you i am left? because i am not...not at all. I just cant stand people like you who are the ones full of bile offering a whole canal to this one problem and talking to people about nothing else. Ive got enough of you ignorant fanatic...guy. Im the one who will shut up no to be finally able to listen to the music again as you said 8) Focusing is sometimes really hard with all the bullshit in the world and on web.

  • One last comment here: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I am moreof a conservative then most 50 year olds. And i think you still dont get what i said. I dont ignore anything here all i say is that this isnt the right place to write it (i can write stuff where ever i want bla bla) but if you are really interested in making something happen why do you comment here and not somewhere where it helps? Thats all i ment and said no ignoring facts or nothing

  • "Don't give up till it's over, don't quit if you can

The weight on your shoulder will make you a stronger man"

    Great song isnt it?

  • I am Irish, I ahve more right to speak about Ireland than a German.

You need to examine what you are saying, why do you find facts such a problem....if they are facts, then what is the problem?

What has your state done over the last 60 yrs to make your head bowed and afraid to not acknowledge facts....c,mon German, your ppl always used to be a great people for facts.

Ask yourself, why can I not simply deal with a fact, but call a person who says a fact - a bigot

    Why? You must ask yourself

  • Waaeaa

    Fuck off you cretin

  • @waaeaa Leave it out, waaeaa. You're ruining the song.

  • words to live by.

  • Great Johnny Duhan song, beautifully sung by Ronnie!

  • fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck

  • Fantastic. I saw them at Vicar Street right after ronnie died....The Dubliners will live forever

  • absolutely right,

they may grew older every year... and badly enaugh sometimes one dies... but everyone dies, when his time comes. but the spirit of the dubliners... it will never die.

and being part of something like that, it also makes the single people immortal in a way.

  • CD with irish folk standarts performed by the Dubliners and others was one of the first cd's I've fallen in love with. Thanks for that, Dubliners! :)

  • Well done, Ronnie & the Dubs. One hundred thousand hits and rising. I remember Ronnie telling me that he loved the final verse best - the one about the ghost moon being followed by the rising sun. You're still rising, Ronnie.

  • I think it this song is amazing and think of dad when i hear it. He doesn't like the song but i think thats because he doesn't like the direct nature of the song.

Its like the composer is saying-

Ya you have problems, but you need to see past what has been done and meet the future head on. It may or may not get easier but keep struggling. It'll be worth it

haha seems like such an effort when ur tired!

  • Spot on, Ruthybobz19. I'm sure the composer would agree.

    And isn't Ronnie only terrific.

  • ha ha he just might ;)

  • Where is this? Vicar street?

  • tis from the Gaiety Theatre.

DVD is called "The Dubliners - 40 Years: Live from the Gaiety"

  • John Sheahan.

  • ich muss weinen so toll finde ich das

I must cry cause it´s so great

    sorry I m german

  • Ronnie Drew and my grandfather had an uncanny resemblance to each other. I think the words to this song speak to the courage and strength that I remember Papa always had. And, of course, so did Ronnie Drew. Thank you for posting. It's a beautiful piece.

  • What words they are so profound, by a profound man !
