Do you know anything about squarealternative dotcom? Really similar but a little less expensive and it's a Real Merchant account - 24/7 Phone support. A better option for businesses.
Ah, never mind... no need to answer that, I checked their website:
"International availability
We are beginning to look into other markets, though at the time we can't officially support banks, cards or merchants outside of the 50 United States and DC. There is no specific timeline for international availability, but we'll be sure to announce any international expansion, including availability in US territories such as Puerto Rico and Guam."
Cool, I hope they start doing business in the U.K!!
@DackIsBack Honestly, I believe you can use Square overseas as long as you have an internet connection, ie. 3G, 4G, Wifi. I don't think it will work with anyone who resides outside the US. For example, say your a US photographer and you set up your account with your info from the US. Months later, you have a shoot in say China. You arrive there and when it is time to pay, you connect to an available Wifi, use the App, and your on you way.
@loupremo During the transaction process, Square has an option to send your customer a mobile receipt (text message) to their phone or email them a receipt instantly.
@AustincJ15 It's working great for me and my customers! The nightly payments are not always consistent, but I receive my money within 2 days on the average and the fees are very reasonable and haven't changed yet. The biggest benefit is a receive a few "cool" points every time I whip it out. Many people are still wowed by the fact you can swipe their cards anywhere without the bulky swipe machines of yesteryear!
@MacIsMyLover104 For the small (or large) business owner/merchant/individual Square is now a known provider of credit card transaction services so if there is identity theft that they could and should have prevented, you can always recoup any damages by dealing with their customer service. Worst case scenario you sue them. If you mean the merchant, you would have your SSN on file that has been verified through registration, therefore any person involved in identity theft can be prosecuted.
@tilben227 Square doesn't actually do any underwriting, nor do they have any phone support. If there is any suspected fraud, their recourse is to hold a business' funds until the fraud is cleared up. In the mean time, that business will not get paid receive funds for transactions that go through during that period of time. Getting a "real" merchant account is generally more expensive but helps with those issues - squarealternative dotcom is as close as we've found to that. Have you seen it?
@MungJuice123 If you're charging $52.50, the cost will be $1.44. I charge a service charge of $2.50 which covers most charges under $100. You can see if that works for you and your business.
Its only U.S and we need that in Europe

Does this work overseas? Or is it imperative that you use the Square within the U.S.?

Thanks so much, one question, do they charge at the end of the day or when a batch is posted/processed?
ZXG2925 6 months ago
@ZXG2925 In my experience, they charged me when the batch was posted/processed. So as soon as it cleared, they deducted their fees.
