  • now what exactly is truth????can you really prove somthing????then again what is truth?

  • The first minute of this video is excruciating. "I BELIEVE (rant) I BELIEVE (garbage)"

  • that's an interesting thought but way too simplistic I'm afraid. All living biological entities of sufficient complexity exist within a framework that is uniquely their own. I call it, err personal framework of existence, I'm not too creative. Anyhow because of this state being ubiquitous it wholly disallows the idea of categorisation. The best you can assume is that there are bars of positional representation along which the 'slider' of personal interpretation of personal framework moves.

  • Or something. Possibly beer.

  • Maybe so, but I see each of those sliders as having a dividing line down the centre, meaning that every person is either on one side or the other of that line, regardless of how far to either side they are.

  • Yea I see the point about the line and it's a good one to make. But you've got to keep in mind that there a single person represents an infinity of those lines and every aspect of the slider position is eternally in flux (or should be). It's a recognised understanding that when we are children we are wholly in the input stage of our lives and our frameworks are determined by our parents. This is a biological requirement to survive in the environment within which we exist, we need to know....

  • .. the framework of our own existence. At teen time the brain chemistry changes to testing mode ready for reproduction and continuation of the species.

In context to your video, some people don't fully develop out of receive only mode, this can because of trauma for example or a failure in the genetic to completely step out of the child mode. Basically you end up with someone who still believes in god. As an atheist you have to consider, seriously, that free will is an illusion.

  • It's amazing how the most seemingly innocent of statements can spark a whole discussion. I do in fact believe to a certain extent that free will is an illusion, but maybe that's the subject for another "strange thoughts" video.

  • Indeed I agree :D ponder it much it is such a deep point, many creationists and religious types will argue tooth and nail that we have free will, free will which is judged on their interpretation of a two thousand year old story.

Many will throw the argument at atheists "Oh so you are a mindless robot are you?" and they cannot accept the answer "mindless robot is a simplistic misunderstanding of the nature of causality".

  • Love the soundtrack playing the background, it fits so well with this video
