Dave Abbruzzese. Such a big difference of hte sound of the band when he was part of it. After him, they effectively wilted into the Rolling stones... And the stones are old and boring like pearl jam have now become.
@jocorocket Well you only have to watch countless videos on youtube to see the energy levels of the abbruzzeese era mate. Anything after him is just ass.
@Scroteypoo I have seen countless performances live and online, and that band still tears it up. There's a reason the band headlines festivals around the world. Dave was a great era but your plain wrong to suggest they don't have it anymore...they are hands down still one of the best live bands around. Millions will agree with that.
@jocorocket I don't feel they are the same band anymore. I'm not saying they are a bad band, I'm just of the opinion that they are not the band they used to be. Dave era was their peak - no one can arugue with that. What I find somewhat I ronic is this video features Dave A on it as opposed to their latest drummers so that for me would suggest you appreciate the Dave A era as much as me as you would not have gone on here int he first place. Still a good band, but not at the peak of their powers.
@Scroteypoo Yes as I said I love the Dave era...But things changed with the band and I was able to accept and still love their music. I'm a drummer as well and was inspired to play by Dave. PJ is the sum of their parts...not just 1 member. I thought Jack was their weakest time but now with Matt I think they're playing at an amazing level. Not the same band...of course not, they're more mature and happier but still passionate as hell. Alright, agree to disagree..............
@jocorocket And ultimately, thats the beauty of opinion. We can agree to disagree. But I know (as a drummer) why I first started listening to pearl jam in the first place when my drum teacher first tried to teach me "Go". Maybe had I learned something from No Code (albeit a few years later), I may have a different perspective, but alas I do not. Peace.

I love his comment before the song: "We didn't write it for you to like it..." Ah, old school, cocky Eddie.
