I NO JOHN IS TALKING ABOUT YOKO BUT WIN WE PLAYED THE ANN ARBOR GIG WAS LIKE A DREAM FOR ME AND DAVE PEEL LIED ABOUT IT HE LEFT THE STAGE THAT NIGHT I PLAYED A BASS BROOM STANDING NEXT TO YOKOTHUR ALL4 SONGS DAVE THE LIER RON KING
His demos tapes, rehearsals and the like are a hidden treasure. Frequently, the final arrangements of the songs clouded his visceral, unique rythim and blues heart
Is it just me, or can 40 year old (1980) John Lennon our-sing 24 year old (1964) John lennon? listen carefully on "this boy" how he pushes hard for the high notes, but at age 40, damn, its like cake to him
WHERE's The-Version with The Guitar / Alone Crossover that-Played ON-The-Radio, HERE-IN-Adelaide, Over-The-Summer of 80-81??? He-Sings The-Word ALONE as Multiple-Syllables Downwards as the Guitar Goes-UP & ON One of The-Syllables it Crosses-OVER so-to-Speak.
Whoaa.. There are quite a few outtakes out there from the Double Fantasy/Milk and Honey sessions. We also now have the new "Stripped Down" version of Double Fantasy.
However, this version of Starting Over has to be my all time favorite. One of the best displays of Lennon's vocal talent from his later period.
Thank you for sharing!!! Every single moment of John's work is like precious flowing perfect happiness!!! He was only 40 for crying out loud! I wish he/we had a few more years...
Man...The quality of this recording is incredible. Sounds like we can time travel to the past and hear this in headphones as he's recording it. Cool Sh!ttttt!!!!

Great stuff. It's a little faster and he sounds happier on this than on the final version.

delightfully clever combination of major and minor keys. Just as good, if not better than the final release.

Goodness this vocal blows away the official release. More playful and urgent and rollicking at the same time.
What a fantastic song.
