  • Well Norm - It's a well known fact that ah......

  • Yep my Fender LYTE Basses are a copy of the Strat but in bass form...

Its my fav bass ever.I even bought the Deluxe model made from Mahog opposed to the Standard being Basswood,

    They are very nice basses.

Shame they were made in Japan !

  • I love fender ( got a tele custom & reissue P-bass) but hate strats, all the plastic, the sound really clitche' & too common, A bit weak for heavy stuff. You get one when your young and end up playin one when your old. Heaps of different sounds, Necks- great, Body shape-awesome, front pick up - wicked. But those position 2 and 4 pickup settings get really anoying.

  • "thats about $6,000 that we cant use"

    "*knock* its 12,000 now"

Who the hell let Peter Griffin in the custom shop?

  • Man, don't you just love stratocasters? They are really comfy! :D

  • Who knew Ham loved guitars?

  • would like to think Abigail wound the pups on my 88 strat, if not it's still a killer geetar.

  • "He wasn't a musician...he was a saxophone player."

  • The wood makes a big difference. Maple gives you a sharp tune and mahogany gives you a warm deeper sound, nothing is the same.

  • whats being played at 7:44???

  • the wood doesnt actually effect a guitars sound when its pugged...

  • @Brando1788 I think you are very much mistaken. Body and neck woods make a MASSIVE impact on their plugged in sound.

  • @AlexSlams how so? If the pickups are magnetic, which all are, magnets don't care what kind of wood fancy wood your guitar is made with when plugged-in. Acousticly, yes it makes a big difference.

  • @Brando1788 You say that acoustically the body woods contribute to the sound. Ok, so what you are hearing there is the vibration of the string being influenced by the body woods. All the pickup does is translate the string vibration into electric current. So lets say your body woods give you +10% sustain acoustically, this will translate to the amplified sound. A question for you - Why doesn't putting a PAF into my squier strat make it sound like a '58 Les Paul?

  • @AlexSlams For many reasons. One being the placement of the pickups, the kind of pickups, etc... No guitar can sound the same. The amplified sound will pickup only the vibration of the string coming from the magnetic pickup. (Sorry for butchering the last part)

  • @Brando1788 - By you saying no guitar can sound the same you are admitting that body woods have an impact on the amplified tone of the guitar! Ok, let me try something new. If you build a guitar from concrete with the same scale length as a les paul, with the pickups from a les paul in the same position.... will it sound like a les paul?

  • "Fender guitars...made in America...by Mexicans..."

  • @ravenshield56 Hahaha like most factorys here in the USA so why even be so proud that its made in America.

  • great

the old woman is so funny

  • At 5:19 Eldred tells John to hit the guitar harder, John hits it harder, then he tells John that he ruined it and it's about $6,000 dollars that they can't use. This is totally Eldred's fault. Why did he let someone with no experience work on it? Idiot.

  • @Frabffib don't take it so serious, they were adding something funny to the video

  • @Vectormediareactor That wasn't "adding something funny to the video". It's clear that he hit it too hard and you could tell by Eldred's reaction he wasn't happy. Ratzenberger did his best to make light of the situation.

  • @Frabffib Still i think they are just having fun, i mean it's discovery channel and fender come on!

  • Clueless host, great guitars.

  • did you guys notice that Leo Fender was holding a CBS stratocaster and smiling, wierd

  • i wanna fuckin live there! playin sunburst teles and strats

  • thanks leo--wubs ya

  • One day sigh

  • He wasnt a musician, he played the saxophone.

  • @howlinlevi2 hahahahahahahahahahahahahah ohhh man!!!! hahahahahahahaha lol

  • zomg i pick up my new strat this week. im so moist.

  • this is awesome. i have a strat. i have never played or heard a better sounding instrument. fender is the best. there's nothing like the great chiming bell tone on a strat (or the twang of a telecaster). it literally sings like a human voice. love it.

  • fender is the best guitar on the world

  • @TheWodzuPL not so sure about that.... really....i used to be a fender fan but when i researched many custom shop guitars and watch many factory tour u learned sth new n the processed of making these guitars...btw im a bass player n i really know many interesting fact abt fender :D n i own a squier bass n tried many fenders

  • My butterscotch tele is my best friend. There isn't a day I dont play it :D

  • that Dave Wronski of the Slacktones giving the strat demo at the end......

  • Some days I love my Strat best, some days I love my Tele best. Just depends where my head is at. But I really must say, I love Fender Guitars best.

  • anyone know the song the guys played at the end?

  • leo fender loved to tinker when he was a kid LOL

  • I thought Abigael was this punk brunette chick... Not the sweetest old lady ever.

  • 4:58 is a jaco relic bass body

  • I have to say that the "Fender Stratocaster" is presumably one of the Best guitar's I have ever played!

  • lmfao!

    was he a musician?

he wasnt actaully, he was a sax player.

  • Don't matter who made it, or where it came from...if it's a guitar, it's beautiful, man.

  • @FlipGordon; you're right dude... Honestly I've played a lot of guitars... And definitely enough to know that price doesn't mean shit. It's all in the setup, and personal preference. As long as you like what you play, who cares? I have a Gibson les Paul supreme that I bought for almost 5 grand, because it was my favorite guitar in the world. One of my friends hates it, because of the way I set the action... Personal preference. Now you guys... Don't be fightin'. Peace.

  • Yngwie malmsteen shreds on a strat... Better than anyone I've seen... You should both shut up.

  • @schaffy101 I agree with you Im not saying that fenders are bad. Im saying that this kid is crazy for saying all Fenders suck except for the strat.

  • lol...that guy at 1:30 about leo fender:

"he wasn't a musician. he was a saxophone player." lmao!

  • the narrator sounds like ham from toy story

  • @4winered He is the voice of ham from toy story lol. He does a character's voice in every single Pixar film.

  • all fenders are crap except for stratocasters... and gibson/ibanez are way better :P

  • @KingOfShadows1500 your a fucking idiot, Ibanez never could compare to Fender with its cheap tin sounding guitars made in china. The fender telecaster and stratocaster are two of the greatest guitars ever. And the Gibson les paul and es 335.

  • @FlipGordon haha you`re making me laugh, asshole! you cant even shred with a fucking strat and its not event got 24 frets! ibanez sound like shit? really? oh i wonder why they are like 2 or 3 times more expensive than a god damn telelcaster!!! stupid bitch...!

  • @KingOfShadows1500 Well first of all I build guitars ive built quite a few. Shredding isent playing guitar shows how ignorant you can be. IM not saying im the best player in the world. But I do know enough to say in No way is shredding the pinnacle of what makes a guitar. yes Ibanezes are 2 or 3 times more expensive thats because people like you pay for it. I could build a $3,000 ibanez for $1,000. Your being ripped off. Teles and Strats are once again what started ibanez designs.

  • @FlipGordon no dude, ibanez are just better: they sound better, thay look better and thay have 24 frets. also, they have way much more models, they have floyd rose, better pick ups and really beautiful finishes. and shredding is a really important part of guitar: if a guitar is good for shredding than you can play any style on it! and ibanez are more expensive only because they are better! i mean, if fender were so great than why don't they make them more expensive?

  • @KingOfShadows1500 Your being ignorant now, Once again Ibanez is not expensive because theyre better They more expensive because people like you will spend money on guitars for the look and Not realizing the cheap parts and the made in china label on it. Fender doesent get so expensive because theyre more true to price. They dont sound better or look better either, What a flame maple top with a red Burst and people go crazy not to mention the poplar plastic bodies. cheap ass woods

  • @FlipGordon dude wtf are you talking about!? my friend has an ibanez jem and it sounds and looks awesome. i've already tried a strat and it does`t sound that good!! ibanez are more expensive because they are better, otherwise, everybody would buy fender guitars. i mean, people like steve vai, paul gilbert, joe satriani or john petrucci play with ibanez. do you really think these people are all ignorants and you`re better than them??

  • @KingOfShadows1500 I dont think theyre ignorant for that , The guitars are built for shredding only. And in no way does it mean Because theyre more expensive theyre better. Once again you could have a pro guitar luthier build an ibanez gem for like a $1,400 American. And it would be just as good as an Ibanez made Jem but the ibanez is $4,000 more. Theyre more expensive because they can make it that much more expensive because people like you buy them. I know Ive sold many guitars ive built.

  • @FlipGordon all right dude tell me this: why people would buy bad guitars?? i mean, if i buy a guitar and it sucks than i`ll go return it back to the store, get my money back and buy myself a guitar that`s better... and i also can try the guitar in the store, which i did with alot of guitars. so if ibanez guitars were sooooo bad than no one would buys them and everybody would buy fender guitars! doooh!

  • @KingOfShadows1500 Im not saying Ibanez guitars are bad your telling me that because theyre expensive theyre better. When thats completely false, Theyre so expensive because half of them are signature models. Theyre expensive because Ibanez over prices them. I bet any money that if I wanted to make a Jem ibanez I could for less than half the price you would buy one.

  • @FlipGordon look dude, 1st of all, everything witch is on sale is overpriced so the seller can make money and live, so even fenders are! 2d of all, if ibanez guitars were soooooo overpriced, than tell me why people don`t buy fenders instead?? i mean, if i had to chose between a ferrari ( 200 000$ ) or a toyota ( 200 000$ ) i would get the ferrari, not you? it`s the same thing here with guitars!!

  • @KingOfShadows1500 Because people like you who dont know anything about how guitars are built Buy them thank you im done.

  • @FlipGordon omg wtf can`t you understand?!?!?! 1st of all, i know alot about guitars! cmon, ask me some question and i`ll answer you!

2d of all, even people who don`t know anything about guitars would see if the guitar sounds good or not and if it doesn`t than they won`t buy it!!! how many times do i need to explain this to you???

  • Unlike any other guitar, Fender guitar has a voice of its own... almost like it has a soul. Hendrix's "Machine Gun", for example, certainly could not have been played on any other guitar and prophesied the way it did. He(ndrix), also, is a big factor behind Fender strat success.

  • I have a Stratocaster on the way, it has the old Nitro finish so no poly. :D Its two-weeks delayed though so I am crying every night...

  • I want to work there!

  • I love fender, I really wish I could own one. I have an acoustic Oscar Schmidt Washburn that's getting old. I want a Fender Strat more than anything. But - Alas, I know I'll never own one because I can't afford one.

  • @criticalcaleb Save up for it then! It'll take long, possibly longer then you'd think (because I did exactly that) but once you'll get it...you'll know it was well worth it!

  • Ok, now let's see the Mexican factory

  • Fender and Gibson are both great brands, but when I was looking for a new guitar I felt that les pauls are pretty heavy and they are uncomfortable(for me) and then I tried a strat and it was light, well made, and it fit right but you really shouldn't judge a brand by one model guitar I happen to really like the es-335 just not les pauls

  • Fender guitars, made in America...by Mexicans. Just joking.

  • Amerika gitars are very verrry verryry expensive!!!!!!!!!! Now I buy China look alike they taste soooo goood like sake wine.

  • NO WAY fender fucking rules..... there is a reason the worlds best usually will have a strat or tele hangin on em. I can't stand the feel of gibson necks. and fender usa is making great quality equipment now. Even Fender's Mexico factory is pumping out quality shit.

  • 6:42 omg its abigail ybarra the pro pickup winding chick!!! lol

  • i am going to buy one value 1000 euros

  • Fender is losing their quality nowadays, yeah I have a P-bass, but its a Lakland, no Fender p-bass can compete with it.

  • i guess im out #ed in liking gibson much better

  • @F3RALIC You're not the only one,,Gibson ALLLLLL the way!!!!! Dont get me wrong i do like fender usa,,i just dont like how the neck feels,,my son is a fender guy though,,maybe he can be converted!! lol

  • @jakazz73 Anyone can be converted, put a thoughow bread Gibson in his hands and say, this is now what guitars will be defined as, not the plastic/alder guitar u bought for 19.99 from billy mays!

  • american's fenders from £990 in the uk because she puts her soul on pick up to make the sound better and its miracle...:-))

  • Thumps up for the old lady! 6:17

  • Thumbs up for Mrs. Abigail Ybarra...all Fender's holders should tell her a big 'thanks' to her for her wonderful work in all these years!

  • @kolomvats This is not an old lady. This is an alien, who disguises himself as an old lady, so he can install the alien technology silently into the fender :-)

  • @MegaSmud she "knits" pickups and she is doin' it good :)

  • He said Fenderal Stratocaster lol

  • how come Fender never acknowleges the Jaguar

  • @motocarnage615 ...`cause Fender makes guitars and Jaguar sells cars.....hahaha.................sorry dude.......I had to.....

  • i just got my first fender guitar yesterday, i got a standard telecaster and im in love

  • I'd rather get a telecaster then a strat because strats are common..

  • ...i like so much the guitars of fender... I want one of that guitars.. I want the fender telecaster...

  • Got my hands on an American Standard Strat. Had the whole GuitarCenter lookin at me. I don't know what it is, but that strat took me over that day.

  • I have my eye on a purple strat at a local pawn shop. It's been sittin there for almost 3 years.

  • @rollerrager you ain't gettin' any younger man. go on and take that thing to the house. you've lost three years with it.

  • @GoldenEyeJack Yeah, lol. But I just bought a Red Tele instead. I love it.

  • @rollerrager DOH!

  • if these guys are really the QC quys, who test the guitars..... this is like a million dollar job if you know what im sayn, and these guys are just - well, theire playing skills are sub-optimal... i think there are 1000 people who can play better and want the job of them

  • Absolutely, the wood makes a huge difference... Listen to a guitar unplugged (really listen) and compare it to others unplugged, now plug 'em in using the same amp setting... What tonal differences do you hear between guitars? The EXACT same differences you've observed when unplugged... Try it... It's not rocket science, really very simple...

  • this is the Life's Miracle!

  • The wood affects the tone more than the pickups..that guy is crazy..I don't think I trust Fender anymore..that and the "laquer resonates more" thing they are telling ppl about some models as they put poly under the laquer since 60's I think.

But I do own a jag, jazz and tele. LOL Bu they're still full of it.

  • "The wood affects the tone much more than the pickups or electronics... "HARDLY. That's the kind of BS mis-information that needs to be stamped out. The ideal electric guitar would be made out of concrete or something that would not absorb any of the vibration of the strings - sending all that energy into the pickups. Alder, basswood, plywood, MDF... makes very little to no difference. What does matter is how much the body has been routed out.

  • @moucon that's really not true, sorry..

  • I just got my American Standard Stratocaster and I get giddy everytime I flip it and see the "Corona, California" engraved onto the neck plate! *_* So beautiful.

  • Those bitches at fender are hotttttt

  • Prototype for the Fender Mustang at 1:14

  • I have a mexi strat and smacked it against the wall on accident last night. I cant even find a scratch lol.

  • @teamhex Haha I have a Mexican Strat too, and I love it!

  • I own a Telecaster AND a Stratocaster and play the heck out of them. I wish I had all the money Ive made with mine......I'd but ANOTHER FENDER! :)

  • well the fender factory is in southern california so of course there is gonna be a more ethnic crew of factory workers. Gibson is in Nashville, TN so its gonna have a bunch of white folks working there.

  • @PopExpo That's crap. Gibson Nashville has got lots of brothers working there - and latinos too.

  • was he a guitarist?

no actually he wasnt a musician he was a saxaphone player.

    that wasnt obvious

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct lol i found that offensive. i play sax and guitar

  • I do like me a Gibson ES-330...I'll admit that. Gibson does make kiler hollow and semi hollow bodies.

  • I thought about dropping some lollar single coils into my strat. but then i put int a callaham tremolo block and wow!!! no need to put new pickups in anynore. (08 american standard strat)

  • PRS makes a better les paul than gibson does.

  • Rooboner17 you have no proof that the workers in the fender factory don;t have as much experience. you're dumbass. I doubt you have actually worked in both factories to make a comment like that. You speak like only white american people can build guitars.

  • Stratocasters rule fuck les pauls....my strat sounded better than any other les paul i've encountered i even got a few les paul players to switch.

  • @PopExpo That's a ridiculous comment. You're comparing apples and onions - two totally different types of axe / sounds. First it's the "white folks" now it's "F les pauls...." There is no "better" - it's different. Sure they might switch if they want a bright single coil sound vs. a humbucker sound. UR truly a douchebag

  • so what if its mexican workers making fenders. every mexican worker i knew is the most hard working employee i knew.

  • check out the other fender factory videos. it takes 3 weeks to make a fender strat. i dunno about gibson though. but both companies are equally good. if you want metal, go for gibson les paul. you want blues, get a fender strat. different guitar suit to different genres, so i wouldn't say which is better.

  • @Angelthrugh: I never said they hated music, they just aren't as expierienced than the employees at Gibson.

  • @ IronChefPeter: True, true. GIBSON FTW!

  • They have all these mexicans making them. At Gibson they have all American people with a love of music and a passion of crafting and making a guitar by hand and the employees have been working there for 20 years on average and love their jobs. Nothing beats a luthier that has a passion for crafting some of the finest quality guitars on earth and knows how it's like to play one just as well.

  • To follow your logic. Gibson is better than Fender because Americans are better than Mexicans?

  • well ur an american racist so most of the world hates you.

  • You may have noticed a question mark at the end of my sentence. You should read comments a little more closely before jumping to conclusions. BTW I'm not even American.

  • so you think mexicans hates music? that´s kinda racist

  • Sorry Abigail, I gotta have my DiMarzios. I need to get a custom made guitar.

  • Fender guitars are so fucking RAW!!!! No fancy gay burst colors or anything like that. Just straight up guitar. If you watch the PRS tour half the time is worrying about the finish. I play fenders not only because they are awesome guitars but for the whole idea and history of the company. Innovation meets tradition.

  • hell yea

  • Here here...

  • i have a telecaster squier (by fender) custom and it rocks!!

i love the looks of it too

  • A Telecaster does not hurt your rib cage.

  • i love my telecaster`s.

  • wish I could afford to buy a stratocaster.

  • i saved up for 3 years to finally buy my dream guitar. a fender american deluxe strat. i used an 80 dollar chinese start replica for years. just really try and save up for it. you'll get it.

  • @mojoefly Yes, I guess with more willpower I could do it!

  • @cricketbat08 Dude, I'm still a minor, and I just bought my Fender American Standard Stratocaster (the one made in the same factory that's in the vid) and its awesome! I saved up for a long time, like 2 years plus a small summer job, but dude, it is 100% worth it!

  • @legumes12 Excellent. I did the same thing in '75. Saved all year for an ES-335. DON'T TRADE IT... DO NOT SELL IT. I paid $800 for that axe brand new.. .would now be worth many times that, but moreover... any American made instrument appreciates... JapanChina-Korean don't. Squiers and Epis might sound and play as good as the real thing.. but they'll never be worth $.01 more than the original price. Also - if you change any parts - keep the originals in the case.

  • i have a tele there nicer than strats

  • depends what you play

  • there are so many minor minor inaccuracies

  • wtf strat OH casters

  • sorry to bud in but put it in this case have a normal fender strat use the same pickups, then switch them with some Seymoure Duncans the sound will switch in a very nice way

  • yeah i just agreed with you, but in the case of an electric guitar, the pickups will have More effect.

  • wtf?

the wood does not effect the sound MORE than the pickups.

  • marketing people :)

  • wow you fail the wood effects the sound more than you would think. honestly do you even play guitar ?

  • yes bender, emphasis on the MORE.

    oc it has an effect.

    Eat me manmeat

  • i does if you don't drench your sound in distortion

  • 7:53 can someone say ass clown

    jk he's just rocking out

  • That "ass clown" can play you and probably everyone you know under the table.

  • oh ok dude chill out just a comment no need to piss your pants

  • i hate les pauls (except for vixens a corals )

  • Thank you very much for uploading this, it's helped me alot on my Fender Strat study for product design :)

  • i like how he says at 1:33 he was not a musian he was a sax player?

  • fender rules the roost awesome
