In a time when reliability wasn't as good as it is today, Mansell was always fast until the car broke or he pushed too far! doesn't mean they aren't up there with Senna, the same for Hill.
For me Damon Hill and Nigel Mansell were fantastic drivers and gave performances that would match the levels of the greats, even to people like Senna, but crucially they lacked consistancy which ultimately cost them.

A slap in the face for a World Champion and Damon declined... exactly what Ron anticipated.

Schumacher was the biggest cheat of F1. He was six time world champ. Why is he lacking even a podium place. It was always his team mate's help. Irvin, Barichelo they helped him. I bet 6 time worlds cheat champion for single win this season.
For all of you slagging damon don't forget he was senna's teammate that day at imola its hard for that not to affect you (would you have 100% confidence in the williams after that?) it was a very skittish car by all accounts. Damon should have been more aggressive and out-braked schumi on the wet part of the track. Coulthard was a solid driver but the best drove on the limit all of the time - senna, schumi, mika etc all pushed their machines to the point of crashing - would you?
Damon might not have won here but he was a fabulous driver. To think how short his career was and he only started driving in his 30's. If things went his way he could have had three world championships instead of one. What a driver! I still think if you really look into Damon's career he was underated. Michael is special too. Has been driving since very young and matured to be brilliant. I really want him to win a few races this year but not to the detriment of Button or Hamilton.

So the titles of Villeneuve, Hill andMansell are worth nothing? They had by far the best car. In 03 Montoya had the best package, the Williams with Michelin tyres was absolutely best. Even Ralf could win in that car.

@rneoman simple... because Sir Frank Williams is a cheap bastard. Hill wanted more pay since he would become World Champion (he was leading the championship). There were even significant rumours Ferrari made him an offer to join them in '97...(!) Adrian Newy told Ron Dennis to get him but Ron was all focused on Hakkinen (go ask Coulthard...) and offered Hill a extra bonus per race win. A slap in the face for a World Champion and Damon declined... exactly what Ron anticipated.

@JOHNNlEWALKER Schumacher is driving with slicks and WITHOUT traction control on a wet track against a faster car (which the williams was back then) on wet tyres. If you would have any clue of racing then you would acknowledge Schumacher's amazing performance. But it is always the same: There's so much envy when it comes to Micheal Schumacher. He won his first two championships in the first two years after the traction control was banned . nothing more to say. Senna was 3 times champion WITH TC.

@JOHNNlEWALKER because no1 1 that mercedes was built around buttons driving style , it handles with a lot of understeer, schumacher likes a pointy car much like alonso or hamilton or one that turns in when you want not like the mercedes, a certain ammount of understeer can be dialled out but the basic characteristics of the car cannopt be changed, when button left for mclaren it was too late to change the car, button has since apologised to schumacher for having to drive his car ,look it up

I don't like the way Hill haters and Schumi haters are slugging out as usual. Seriously they was both great drivers. Of course the stats would say Schumacher is head and shoulders above any driver. But the stats are not fully accurate (which without a doubt some idiot will call me a hater for that) Hill deserved more than the 1 title he got. Schumacher maybe not all 7. But they are two fantastic drivers and what I see here is excellent racing between the best two drivers that season.

For all of you slagging damon don't forget he was senna's teammate that day at imola its hard for that not to affect you (would you have 100% confidence in the williams after that?) it was a very skittish car by all accounts. Damon should have been more aggressive and out-braked schumi on the wet part of the track. Coulthard was a solid driver but the best drove on the limit all of the time - senna, schumi, mika etc all pushed their machines to the point of crashing - would you?

Damon might not have won here but he was a fabulous driver. To think how short his career was and he only started driving in his 30's. If things went his way he could have had three world championships instead of one. What a driver! I still think if you really look into Damon's career he was underated. Michael is special too. Has been driving since very young and matured to be brilliant. I really want him to win a few races this year but not to the detriment of Button or Hamilton.

Damon pushed hard here, but should've been more aggressive with Schumacher. However, in a way it's good to be safe at times, 'cause had someone as crazy as Montoya been in the same circumstances as Hill here, both pilots probably would've been out of the race. lol.

Hakkinen knew that he cant go anymore against schumi so he decided to retire becouse schumacher went on a big fight so he conquered F1 from 2000-2004 SCHUMI EMPIRE.

So the titles of Villeneuve, Hill andMansell are worth nothing? They had by far the best car. In 03 Montoya had the best package, the Williams with Michelin tyres was absolutely best. Even Ralf could win in that car.
