  • I wonder if giving that woman a touch (or near touch?) stimulated a release of oxytocin. If so, her comparison to feeling a hug makes sense. Oxytocin makes people more trusting.

  • Does Derren Brown say that pastors and preachers use hypnosis to convert people? Isn't this really advanced hypnosis which would means that all preachers have to use years to learn how to create this illusion to be able to convince people?

  • @DDudemaister Well, Derren does admit he sometimes fails. So a person who seems receptive from the getgo would be better. I also believe this has more to do with "healers" than preachers, and most of the time you'll only need a couple of people to be "healed" for everyone else to see and believe (if they are already there, then they should be open). When a person believes so strongly that what they are doing is true and helping others, they might suggest that as well. There are many factors...

  • This is incredibly hard to do because hypnosis cannot break someones

moral or ethical code. The fact that their mind is trying to fight the suggestion

of religion just makes it seem more believable because they seem dumbfounded.

    Derren is truly amazing.

  • I would like to know more about how this was advertised. Was there a photo of Derren Brown? I know of Derren Brown & am from the USA. Even before I could say I knew him by name I saw mind control on the sci fi (The initials of the channel have changed) channel & found him again when I had access to the internet. This seems like a psychology test that boasts of how poorly done it is because all answers have the I am rubber your glue effect concerning all conversion.

  • Much like the old phrase and the REO song "Should I follow my head or follow my head or follow my heart" Emotions over analytical thought ---knowlege vs feelings

  • this guy is creeping the bajeebers out of me!!

  • Wait... so people watch this guy explaining he has no powers, and then think he has powers? Or are there that many people trolling?

  • These are some of the more stupid fucking atheist I have seen. I would love to see if someone convince of a god just by touching me, why leave? I have no investment in atheism I just go where the evidence takes me.

  • I am falling more and more madly in love with Derren Brown by the minute....it is killing me that he is gay :(. Like I would have a chance even if he was straight ahahahahaha. In my dreams betch!

  • 4:28

"you're not gonna hurt yourself... I'll catch you when this happens"

He told him exactly what he wanted, then told him to just let it happen.

Then Derren used his body language reading ability to figure out when he was gonna fall back

  • LOL, doctrine of Demons. Designed to lead people from Christ. It is real and he is chanelling demonic spirits

  • @supersman2000

Demons? Derren Brown is an atheist. What he's doing throughout this whole series is to show that these magical things that you've experienced are illusions. You've really gotta force your ignorance if you actually believe what you said.

  • @pr0kris Thanks. The bible also says that too the wisdom of God is foolish to world so I understand your anger against God and I dont hold it against you. I appreciaite you effort in trying to help me undersatnd my religion. Thank you for your concern.

  • @supersman2000

It's so sad to see this. Everyone except you can see how blatantly ignorant you are.

  • @supersman2000 I like demons, that is why I am an atheist because I love satan.

  • LOL, doctrine of Demons. Designed to lead people from Christ.

  • You fools! never let Derren Brown touch you when he's got his groove on. Watch out! ;P

  • Its called Entertainment folks and hes a magician if its set up thats exactly what it is...If you do not find it entertaining don't watch it its that simple...

  • This guy is awesome.

  • what #¤%& is it that he's doing?! %)

  • All his videos are staged and fraudulent. He has you people believing in his abilities without even showing proof, pre-hypnosis, physical contact, or anything now, its quite pathetic. Miracles for Sale was the only one that seemed a bit credible because there wasnt magic tricks, Im sure there were fake storys & actors though still.

  • @XenovannHellwolf yes, the feel good, 'fake, staged' comment. everythings fake that you dont understand i guess.

  • @dr1pdr0pz No things are fake that I understand to be presetup, directed, staged, edited, and televised.

  • @XenovannHellwolf you are choosing not to believe your eyes, because that's what heavily indoctrinated people do. Brown is a professional mentalist who uses well-known psychological tricks and manipulation to achieve these demonstrations, there are no actors or camera tricks used. Consider that it'd take only ONE professional to step forward and debunk Derren's entire career, and that hasn't happened yet. you want to believe this is fake because you dislike the point he's making.

  • @XenovannHellwolf Agreed. People seem to be worshiping Derren Brown in the same way that they worship the people he's claiming to expose now. He's turning into a Kenneth Copeland disguised as James Randi. The only redemption for him would be to come out and admit all the stoogery and fakery his shows have used.

  • Honestly, this one was a little less impressive than the remote viewing one. It's just basic psychology and manipulation. Granted, he does it like a master, but I know several psych grad students who could pull this off too.

  • I don't get it... if you are an atheist whit strong believes that God do not egzists why you need to go to talk about it... isn't it a giant waste of time?

  • @BiGLeGArnazzz And why do you need to go to church to talk about how god exists?

Atheists talk about it for many reasons, but the most common (or at least most pressing for many) is that religion does harm.

  • This whole thing looks ridiculous and staged. I can't help but feel that this whole thing is designed to make Atheists believe in Derren Brown instead of a religion =)

  • @Gr33nAtheist

I believe in Derren Brown, there's hardly anyone who'd dispute his existence...

  • @LanteanKnight yeah yeah enough with the semantics smart ass...

  • @Gr33nAtheist

    Lulz lulz

  • "I want you to know you´re gonna hurt yourself or anything like that, alright? I will catch you when this happens."

He´s effectively teilling the guy to let himself fall.

And if I didn´t know Derren Brown and how awesome he is, after that bit with the girl in the beginning I would have been on my feet, shouting: "You´re a liar and you´re either a liar as well or just insane." to him and the girl respectively.

    Good show nevertheless.

  • @rhominus

"He´s effectively teilling the guy to let himself fall."

Yeah that's what I thought, but how did he know when to fall.

I want to learn these tricks so badly!

I'd probably have walked out like the other people, thinking the girl was part of the show.

  • @LanteanKnight

He didn´t. If you watch closely you see him begin to fall and only then does Derren do his little pretend-pull-thingy.

  • @rhominus

No I really don't see that.

It seems to me that he pulls first.

But I'll download the video tomorrow and watch it frame by frame :P

  • how does he DO that?

  • That first girl, she's so desperatly seeking for something and he knows it. It's kinda sad actually :(

  • Intense experiences from close proximity, pregnant meaningful silences and falling exercises....Oh my putative god; its a trust camp. He's conning a room full of people with stuff you'll find at a corporate retreat. Combine that with crowd selection and you've got a televangelist.

    Derren Brown is awesome.

  • I would have called bullshit on the convert with a touch thing.

if she changed so quickly I would have assumed she was working for him lol

  • Part of the trick that Derren Brown uses is he knows these people are influenced easily. He put up flyers to a religious talk which means the people who came here are largely people who want to be influenced. He probably scouted the crowd and looked for the most susceptible person and try to influenced them so he could then slowly influence others. By judging reactions given by the crowd he just did what most religious leaders talking to the crowd do.

  • OK, is this where I am supposed to ask Derren if this is a trick?

  • That guy reminds me of rocky... xD

  • This video is the ultimate proof against the argument from personal experience.

  • The power of Derren Brown compels you!

  • Great, some slob who preys on immigrants, like coming to a new country isn't tough enough...

  • Who is Derren Brown?

  • text - in the video "all of these people were 'de-converted' and left with exactly the same beliefs as when they arrived"

  • I really hope he told them that it was fake!

  • 1.He chose a tall man to perform because women and short men can't be "pulled down" , they have low gravity center.

2.He chose a men who looked with admiration at him-so it will follow his orders.

3.He established control over him in conversation.

    4. He singled him out standing in front of the class making him feel powerless.

    5. He takes away his balance by standing up with his feet closed.

    6. He orders him to fall:"i will catch you"

7.He placed the man in front of a mirror to see.

  • @magdalenaferu yes, you are correct. if you asked derren, he would probably tell you that. its all psychology, obviously for us the viewers too. doesnt change the fact that believing in some magical bearded man that gives a shit about you is insane.

  • This can't be for real!!!!!

  • I love Derren Brown's work, however this was tasteless!!! Just because he is Atheist doesn't mean he has to go around making a mockery of Jesus Christ. Christ didn't forcefully convert. He told the truth and allowed them to cross over on their own!!!

Love the Techniques!!! Hate how it was applied!!!

  • @taylormade85

1.) Can you explain where Derren "forcefully made the people convert", how can you even say such?

2.) Can you explain how John 3:16 "accept Jesus or perish" isn't the definition of extortion?

The only difference between Jesus and Brown is Derren told them the TRUTH afterwards, exposing the trickery.

Thank you for exposing your blatant blindness to question the obvious.

Please go actually read your the Bible and begin your progress of exposing the obvious charade = religion.

  • @Fastlan3 Derren didn't allow them to convert to Christianity via their own hearts, which is what Christ did.

You speak as an athiest. In order to accept any biblical reference, you must accept God's word (the bible) as truth. Otherwise, its pointless.

The bible speaks of the unpardonable sin. Christ didn't perform his miracles via magic, magick, or the occult. It was divinity(Heaven empowered). You have just spoken against the Holy Spirit.

  • @Fastlan3

Religion however is questionable. You don't have to have a denomination. You do have to believe in Christ. After much years of study, I have found that out! You have to believe that he died for our sins and rose three days later. Thats it!

I know there will be other religious comments from Christians. (I'm one by the ways)

But dude I'm telling you, thats all you need to believe. I think Derren as well as other athiests has been misinformed.

  • @taylormade85

Talk about being questionable, where and how did you "find that out!"? Someone told you, or you thought of it yourself, and it made you feel good inside, yeah? Perhaps you witnessed something you feel is miracle?

Your conviction has nothing to do with the truth. What are the convictions of others, those that oppose your views?

If you can not be honest about the legitimacy of these questions you should be mocked as well. You don't find truth by breeding ignorance.

  • If it is indeed true that Derren uses no actors in this, it is absolutely brilliant. Above and beyond what James Randi has done.

  • Derren is the Messiah! He just doesn't know it!!

  • How'd he get the guy to fall?

Even when you know he's a trickster I cant figure it out...

  • He is good.. yet dont give him too much credit. Since, its very easy to convince religious idiots into believe anything.

  • I find this painfully embarrassing to watch, but ultimately necessary.

  • Christianity is a fucking joke.

  • May peace overall, after all

  • "GOD" had said in his last Holy Book which is the Quran when the subject came to Jesus Christ "Tell human, how come did you believe in your father Adam whom he was created with neither a father nor a mother and then you debate about Jesus Christ" in other words Jesus had a visible mother whom "GOD" had also spoken and pre- declared his visit to mother Mary by sending her Angel Gabriel to inform her about what she will be experiencing in his last Holy Book the Quran.

  • Derren Brown clearly has something that the average person doesn't. I'm not saying it's spiritual or supernatural, but he seems to be a master at mind-control.

  • @karlkarlkarl1234 Yep, he's a mentalist. Like Simon Baker in the TV series (just not quite *that* charming). Have you seen that stunt with the people raising their hands in the mall on cue?

That one with the guy falling is pretty weird, though. Of course he hinted at falling and everything ("I'm going to catch you") and made sure the man didn't stand solidly (putting his feet together), but the timing with the hand-motion was really impressive.

  • @GreyLabyrinthine I think the timing comes from Derren just seeing when he's going to fall, seeing he's about to fall and then doing the hand-motion.

Also I think Derren hasn't got any abilities normal persons don't have, I think in principle anyone could do what he does, some people would be better at it than others and it would take a lot of practice, it's just like anything else, like music or painting.

  • @WitteTroost I think so, too... and maybe there's also some luck in timing it? Hard to say.

I totally agree with you. Ever since The Mentalist and Lie To Me we really all know that it's maybe 5% inherited talent for "reading" people('s faces, body language etc.) and the rest is just regular training. Still, it's impressive to see someone so totally controlling and predicting and... playing people. He'd be an awesome poker player, and the best sales representative on earth :)

  • @mmeasy123

Don't think so. Don't underestimate the power of touch--especially if a person is lonely or feels cut off from people. There are studies that show we need touch more that we assume. We are hard wired social animals but modern social structures interfere with this. It's not surprising when some people feel an intense [platonic] emotional reaction from touch, they may assume something "otherwordly"...

  • It's like the David Blaine South Park. I really think Derren Brown needs to battle David Blaine in a fight to the death!

  • They change their opinions because they are emotionally tricked just like all reliigous people. They also want to believe so badly that all it takes is a touch and some touchy emotional language and than they believe.

BLOCK your emotions. I know it sounds bad. BUT you need to block your emotions and use logic.. YOUR EMOTIONS SKEW LOGIC AND REALITY AND TRICK YOU INTO BELIEVING THE IRRATIONAL..!!!!!!!!! DON'T LET YOUR EMOTIONS FOOL YOU!

  • @bluewatermonster - it was about tricking the priest or whatever. the people you saw "change" were just in on it. they acted that way to give the priest the idea derren could really do these things. get it? tháts the trick. maybe some of the people there werent stooges but the girl and the guy were.

  • @pklukepk no he did techniques used by stage hypnotist... tis is very much possible to do by a master hypnotist like derren brown is

  • @pklukepk Derren Brown doesn't use stooges, but he will try the same thing multiple times and then only show the result that is most convincing!

  • Comment removed

  • @bluewatermonster What does reason, desire, or any emotion have to do with belief? Is that why people take on any beliefs, and if so which beliefs? Can people self report why they belief what they believe? There are people who do not believe the left side of the world exists & will argue the point irrationally. Is there not an obvious reason to emotionally desire a belief that includes all of the world one sees?

  • @bluewatermonster

I don't think we need to go that far. Just be self AWARE of your emotions, so you're making choices informed by BOTH emotion and logic. ;-)

  • Most religious people are ego maniacs..

Essentially, every religion is just a person way of saying I'm better than you..

Even, though the Bible teaches not to judge, listen to any Christian..

Telling people they are going to burn in hell.. They are so ignorant they dont even follow there own book..

  • @mentalistlance

    Jesus isn't a religion though.

  • @jmann114

No but jesusworship is a religion called Christianity

  • @KnownNoMore

Yes, but Jesus isn't a religion.

  • A room full of atheists and none of them know Darren Brown? Lowbies.

  • @tekproxy True that.

  • @tekproxy i guess you missed the part where he introduces himself as james lawrence?

  • @brakzorak86 i missed the part where they didn't see his face.

  • @tekproxy fair enough.. but obviously you don't need to be familiar with another, particular atheist to be an atheist yourself.... btw, what is a lowbie anyway? i'm assuming it's comparable to a "noob".. any chance you can clarify for me?

  • @brakzorak86 sure, sure. it was merely a jape. and yes, lowbie means noob. "low level"

  • I love the ceiling cam. It makes it so obviously stages.

  • that's so cool, he can touch people and make them retarded.

  • @DarkNSF LOL, right on

  • @DarkNSF That comment was fabulous.

  • @DarkNSF

    Did he touch you?

  • @DarkNSF pick another word than retarded, ps. you are a fuck stick.

  • @waterspindle stop being retarded.

  • @DarkNSF This comment is made of win.

  • Comment removed

  • @DarkNSF the people responded to an advert... that's the key...

  • Wait, what? Dude.

  • This is so funny lol Why are these people switching their opinion on God? It's because they are ignorant, ignorant of religion, ignorant of Atheism, ignorant of it all. They are emotionally based, and so if you screw with their emotions you can change their opinion. Ironically, I learned in RELIGION long ago that you have to try and block your emotional impulses in favor of the facts, and I actually used that to escape religion lol.

  • @2112murphy LOL FAGGOT

  • I wanna see him de-convert a 'real christian'.

  • lol is that Puff Daddy in the first line? A very intresting video :)

  • To all who claim this is fake or contrived...you only think so because you dont understand his methods. It like when an illusionist does a trick and then fully explains his method; you think "wow, I cant believe how obvious it seems now" Although when Derren on the rare occasion does explain his methods, he usually does not tell the whole truth; why should he?

  • Ummm this is definitely demonic, the bible talks about how the devil disguises himself as something positive and edifying. The pastor makes me mad by not having a deep enough spiritual life to discern this.

  • @notemetasconmigo06 This is not demonic, I wont disclose his methods; however I will say that what he does is no different from what happens daily in society. It is subliminal in nature, a trick not real magic since that does not exist. Even the man who falls backwards without being able to see Derren; if i told you what Derren really did, you would understand completely that its a trick of the mind; nothing spiritual in nature whatsoever. Btw after the demonstration he "undid" the conversion

  • I wonder if he could pull that on Dawkins, Hiches, Harris or Dennet.

  • does anyone know a video where he or anyone shows how these things are done? like the touching and making them fall or touching the cheek feeling thing? please reply to this.

  • @tommy41995 no... and seriously, i think it's fake, i dont know... he doesnt show how...so...you can guess

  • @JobaDiniz well obviously it's fake and unless you have a video it's stupid to say reply saying no. Imagine how annoying it is if everyone responded saying no. Why not sit there and do something else instead of explaining the already obvious you jerk?

  • @tommy41995 fuck you man...seriously... -.-

  • Does he eventually tell them?

  • @OkWheresMyMonkey He's showing how people can be scammed into believing anything. The next step, if he were unscululous is to ask for a 'donation' that's how it works!

  • If Derren Brown were to (hypothetically) dedicate his life to evil and mischief, who knows how far he can go?

  • @SamonMarquis well look at how much power the christian church had in the 15th century... alike that i think ;)

  • HAAADDDUUUKKKKEEEENNN

  • hey!,.. how did he do that grabing of energy thing?

  • @guysmiley00 I have got evidence of one of the biblical stories.

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah

  • @guysmiley00 it's called: The Physical remains of Sodom and Gomorrah type it in the youtube search bar.

  • some skeptics they are...

  • The thing is , he´s not trying to convince the group in his meeting but the priest behind it, therefor it´s plausible that the people he converts are the stooges and the rest of the people will follow because that is what people do.. They don´t want to stand out from the crowd

  • @arahneaqua My thoughts exactly.

  • Comment removed

  • OK, if this stuff isn't set up, then Derren Brown has got some real powers XD

  • @PrUnEJuIcEtHeThIrD

Its a trick, its not magic.

  • Can he manipulate anyone like that or does that only work on semi conscious people like the "YOU KNOW" girl. Also these atheists don't seem to be the type of people that gave much thought on why they don't believe.

  • How the heck do these tricks even work?

  • @sitecomable

Why are you spamming all these videos? Get lost, already.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer because of people like you. People who after seeing this are going to think or already thinking that every religion is out there to get your money and they all have bad intentions.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer the church isn't forcing anyone to give money, they want money for regular costs or to improve the church or sometimes for charities it isn't going to one person who gets rich of it. If there are churches (and i think there probably are) were all or a large portion of the money goes to one person than it probably is a scam and no not every church is a scam.

  • @sitecomable

"the church isn't forcing anyone to give money"

They use deceit and subterfuge for the same purpose, which boils down to the same.

"not every church is a scam"

Basically, they are, since they can't provide evidence for any of their claims.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer ''They use deceit and subterfuge for the same purpose, which boils down to the same.''

they aren't deceiving, in order to deceive one must consciously mislead you by telling stories that they don't even believe themselves but 99% DO BELIEVE IT"S TRUE and they use the money for what they said it is for. Yes there are scammers out there with scammers i mean people that don't believe the stories they are telling but you cant blame the whole religion for that.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer ''Basically, they..'' a scam means deceiving people to get money, so not telling the trued to get money. It isn't proven that it's false, it is said to be false because of lack of evidence, but that doesn't mean that it couldn't be true. For example:

If you were born in the 50's and you had a older brother also born in the 50's, you can't prove that he is your real brother, it was told that he is your real brother, does that mean that he isn't your real brother(no prove),no

  • @sitecomable If you're concerned about people thinking in that manner after viewing these videos, then it seems to me that it's your responsibility to present some countervailing evidence, not to simply spam the same assertion over and over again.

  • @guysmiley00 I am sorry for the video's were I have placed the same stuff twice i had some internet problems.

  • @guysmiley00 it's very hard to prove with that a religion is true,i cant prove with physicalevidence that God is real you have to personally experience ityourself. All I can say is read the bible seriously, research the religion, maybe rent some books of people that have got historical evidence, archaeological evidence about biblical stories, sit down with your local vicar and have a serious conversation or talk to other religious people about there experienceYou can at least try it it won't harm you

  • @2112murphy "warlock" lol

  • Christian baptism works on the same state of suggestion as his demonstration.

  • Comment removed

  • pls tell me he undid the trick afterwards...

  • @blacksofia yea

  • @blacksofia

No kidding. He evokes an emotional response, call them back into a time when they were imbued with one particular faith, and then use a semi-sensual touch to anchor them into that recall. Making dude fall and "I don't want to put words in your mouth"... Yeah, he's got the skills to talk Trump out of his AmEx Black Card.

  • @Rurne good try

  • @krsnaprema777

You haven't lived with a bunch of salespeople and night-club owners who've tried reading Bandler and Grinder, and try their NLP seminars on you, have you?

  • The guy who fell down probably locked his knees.

  • Did Derren Brown learn all this skills from Jesus himself?

  • @dustball3010 how old do you think he is? Jesus or Derren

  • XD lol

I think all who watch Derren Brown gets more observant of everything becuase of all subliminals he shows us.

  • 0:16 no, because you'll be banging a hooker

  • can anyone explain the conversion thing ?

  • @JacobDeadman he is a pro hypnotist which means he can kick any psychic's ass

  • jajajajajaja He is a genius. Just with the power of suggestions and other techniques.

  • darren brown = JESUS
