I really enjoy your videos. As a teacher I find your approach so refreshing. You communicate it all beautifully and I watch your lessons in the hope I might learn to do the same!!
ProffesorV! one question, could you tell me what is the vibrating string length I should be using? and how important is to use the standard value (if there is one).
Hmmm, I don't think all violins are the same (a long pattern Strad is different then middle a period Guarneri or Amati). I think that's best left for someone else to answer, perhaps a violin shop or violin maker. Anyone?
I have three violins: Jennifer Becker (Carl Becker's daughter), Daniel Larson and a German junk violin that I love to death (which you see in most of the videos).
I just wanted to thank you for the great videos. They made me try playing the violin once again, and this time i feel more confident about my playing.
you're right, they're great videos:) However, from my own experience, once you find some solid personal reasons for learning the violin you will never quit again, no matter how good (or bad) your current teacher is
How would you use this technique to improve speed in the howdown/fast passages of the Orange Blossom Special? It is a somewhat complicated repeatable pattern.
It has syncopations, right? I have not actually played it, but do love some fiddle music (mostly Irish, but also Edden Hammons and Tommy Jarrell). It should work, but is probably difficult. Try stretching different places in the measure, but do not change the bowings. See what happens!
I went home last night (after watching the original videos you'd put up yesterday) and tried this one again. Eek. ;-) Playing fast is hard. "You must suffer to grow." I will try to keep that in mind. Thanks again for the videos. :-)
Looking forward to more video tutorials...they're excellent ! - Just for more inspiration am reading the latest biography of Yehudi Menuhin...great reading.
Thank you sooo much! I will go try it. How long does it take before effects can be seen? I've actually tried a similar method like this. I got a suggestion to change the rhythm of the notes into dotted notes for #13 but it didn't really work for long so I kinda gave up and stopped. =p
u are amazing!!!! thanks a million for uploading!!!

Hi VP'95, How have you been? Regarding the Bach; since it didn't fit in any of my playlists, I dumped it. Sorry you spent time looking!
