If you look at the engineering quality on this freeway when it was reconstructed in the '90's you will notice that this freeway is probably one of the sturdiest and safest freeways. Look at those columns, and if you've seen some of the construction video, there were plenty of improvements at the foundation.
I'd rather not see freeways like that in L.A, another Northridge Quake may fuck it up...I always worry about the 110/105 interchange due to teh fact that it's so high up...
i had a walk-through at the 105/110 in 1991(opened in '93). the colums are so deep into the ground, the rebar count is very good and the cement is very flexable. yeah the carpool lanes are high up but, the lessons of the nimitz collapse was fresh on the engineers minds.
unless the epicenter of another big quake is at that interchange(no faultlines there) it may hold up. check out the nimitz construction
I can't remember how many times I've been on this stretch as a kid. I've never driven it, despite driving to San Francisco numerous times.

Has the design have been tested to withstand a Loma Prieta size quake or a Landers size quake or even the 1906 Quake.

To be Honest with You I live in Nor Cal and I'm afraid that the double decker 280 freeway will collapse in the future Hayward quake.

I remember when they started construction on that in 1989. It finally opened to traffic in 1996.
