Dorothy Kilgallen rules. I love how she smiles brightly and bat John Daly down to size. As a crime reporter she probably saw a lot of DAs at work grilling a witness. She learned the technique well.
Fred Allen still amazes in WML. He could ask fine questions to be sure, but his off-the-cuff wise guy observations still ice the WML cake 1954-1956.
I am glad he got a chance to shine on WML but it is a shame that he never found a way to bring something like the radio "Fred Allen Show" with its sense of topical satire to some format of his own in television.
