I know how it is mariners Fans. We lost our voice last year as well. Harry Kalas and Dave Niehaus. Boy heaven must sure love baseball... This is from a Phillies fan. Imagine those two calling a world series in heaven?
But in the recent years, we've lost some iconic voices of baseball: Harry Kalas, Dave Niehaus, and Ernie Harwell. And each of them have iconic calls. We'll miss 'em all.
Spring training is upon us. I think the real impact of Dave's absense will soon be felt all across Mariner nation. It's going to be so hard not hearing him this spring and summer. I still tear up when I think about it, and watch this video. Lets win this damn thing for Dave. Lets get to the World Series an win the damn thing for him.
We all know Dave is up in heaven getting ready for spring training, he has all of those legends up there awaiting his play-by-plays... there wont be a single game that i will not hear Dave in my head saying "my, oh my"
Thank You Dave for all of the memories... I know that when you got to heaven, the Lord told you, well done, good and faithful servant.. Fly Away Dave... We'll see you when we come home.
I grew up listeing to Niehaus my entire life. Hearing his voice meant one thing. Summer was here, and it wa time for baseball. I'm really going to miss him. Great video, I'll never forget all the joy he brought me. It will not be the same without him. RIP Dave, we will miss you.
@marinerfan1982 i'm crying watching this video and your comment took the words right out of my mouth. I feel like a part of my childhood has died, summers can't be the same anymore.
Great job on the video. He is going to be greatly missed by the Mariners and us Mariner fans. I am blessed to have had a chance to hear him call so many games over my lifetime. I will never forget all of the memories he has brought us over the years. Rest in peace Dave.
Thank you for putting the time in this tribute. Losing Dave is like losing a long time friend. He will be sorely missed and remembered by all of Mariners nation.
If you felt chills goosebumps or cried a little from this like I did, you are a true mariners fan
