12:21 makes me recall Topo saying, "Ha! How pathetic!" before blasting you into the electric barrier behind you with the fans if you mess up in the, "Dance or DIE!" part of Brave Fencer Musashi. It was made by Squaresoft just like the Final Fantasy games. It's an Action Adventure RPG.
Well, HCBailly, I was on this video for about an hour because I was too busy downloading arranged battle themes from Lufia DS in other tabs. Thanks for telling me about it!
It's been bugging me this entire time, but I finally remembered that Gades' shield reminds me of Dark Flare Knight's shield! Yes, this guy reminded me of a Yugioh card >.>
@superanimeniac Aside from FF4, I haven't. That is something that is a little sad about making such thorough LPs. By doing so much research, I feel that I've learned everything I can from the game, so I have no further reason to play it again. If I felt like there was something new I could discover in the game, I might play it again.
@HCBailly I have a feeling you'd like playing some of the "Elder Scrolls" games. Every time you play, you use a different playing style depending on what character you make.
I, myself have played around 5-10 times each on the 3rd and 4th installments of the game, each different styles from cheer-leading priest to total tank.
@HCBailly HCBailly, that's where low level/quirky challenges come in. Like a no materia FF7 or no Espers FF6. If you find the right challenge it can bring a totally new experience to the game.
I know that you have mentioned this in a TON of your previous episodes, but I can't remember what the final verdict was....so please forgive me for asking this again, HC. Are you planning on playing any of the other versions of the game? Honestly, from what I've heard, you've already played the best of the Lufia series, but I am just curious.
@DemonKingAtticus I thought that I had remembered something to that effect, but I didn't want to be presumptuous. The fact that the Sinistrals weren't in the other games are the only reason I didn't play them. It just didn't feel the same.
I don't know how much time/effort/energy it takes to revive a sinestral, but if I was Erim, I would just make you fight an infinite series of Gades and Amon.
They left an unused version of Gades in the game data that is supposedly stronger. He should've been used there but for some reason and Erim has some moves she never uses. Someone made a patch to change this around, which is pretty cool.
I thought that track was called "The Last Decisive Battle". That said, holy crap you're right. The arranged version from the soundtrack for "Curse of the Sinistrals" is spectacular. I guess that's why they call it "Crowning Music of Awesome".
I was considering making it a ringtone for my phone, but I'm still not sure whether I truly want to, since I have other great tunes for ringers. Anyway, really looking forward to seeing what happens next! Keep up the brilliant work! XD
hcbailly i dont know if this works in your version of the game but when you kill erim try to walk in the outer ring of the room into the space, you can do it in one of the squares.
Also I like how the areas in the fortress of doom in this version have slightly tinted floors corresponding to the nearby Sinistral's ball-of-light-form color...blue floor around Gades, green floor in the hall before Amon, red floor in Erim's place...I believe there's a yellow tinge to Daos's too, but I guess we'll find out :)
Lol already played a lot Diablo 2 with the Gades' Song. :p Brings back some old memories. I have a ton of video game soundtrack in my pc. Played a lot with them.
You know, the DS version was pretty cool in some ways but really sucked in others. However, probably my favorite little tidbit about the DS version was that, as you progressed thru this fortress, each boss had different music. Gades had regular battle music, Amon had regular boss music, Erim had Sinistral boss music (like they all do in this version), and Daos had a slightly remixed Lufia 1 boss music, AWESOME. Can't seem to find Daos's music online anywhere tho :(
the reason IP attacks don't seem useful to you is BECAUSE you know the elemental weakness of every enemy in the game and know every bit of secret gear. play the game normally as a new player would and IP attacks suddenly are a lot nicer.
Kinda makes sense that Erim would be the strongest. Daos doesn't punish her for helping Maxim in the beginning of the game? Erim controls life and death and ultimately -doesn't- just kill Maxim? Heck, even the reason why Erim is good (not trying to spoil the first game) in the first game makes sense.
Heck if you could control life and death, the other Sinistrals are basically at your beck and call, because you could decide if they died. (of course... as the hero... lol)
Urgh, I hate what a pushover Gades is because they obviously used the wrong version... look at the pathetic damage he's doing! -.- Not like the others are much more dangerous, though.
Meh, I dunno about the space background... if there was some explanation to it sure but there it just seems for show. They could have just let you see the ocean underneath, imo.
@WhyN0tTh1s You might think it's cheesy, but it really isn't such a bad game. Seeing the scenes played out in a different format is quite refreshing. Maxim's a dick, though.
It'd be pretty darn sweet if that titbit about Erim being the 'real' leader of the Sinistrals was true. Especially since she's the only one we're seen conversing with their superior, Arek and all.
In the last episode, you mentioned that you didn't like how the whole "legendary sword" thing was handled in JRPG. But in this game, the dual blade is actually kickass.
on your next lp im going to write down every time you say remember this for later and also when later comes. so i dont forget. i wonder how many times you say that an LP?
So 1 more extended episode with the ending + AC bonus episode if someone has sent you an AC savestate?
I think they put Gades, Amon & Erim in other places than Lufia 1, because their sprites are bigger and to add more "tension" for the Daos battle I suppose.
Whose crazy idea was it to give boss enemies (and super beings at that) an elemental weakness?
