This is the case as well in most Latin-based languages such as italian, french, spanish: coree, corea. Korea is really a derivation of the word goryeo which is from the old world. In any case, korea or corea are western terms as most post-war south koreans now refer to their country as han guk.

And until the K9 comes out, the Amanti (Opirus) is Kia's current flagship model.

@warset no, K7 is a car of the Hyundai Azera (Grandeur) class.
they're developing K9 on the class of Hyundai Genesis, and currently they have no plans on making an Equus-class car.
Both the new Kia Optima (K5) and the Cadenza (K7) are designed by the new Chief Kia Designer from Audi, Peter Schreyer.
