The Hurom slow juicer made by Omeg's manufacture. it's same as Omega VRT 350 HD. but I think the Omega single auger juicer is the best overall. 8003/4/5/6 produce less form(oxidation) to keep all the enzymes alive more longer than VRT.
@powerofrawdoods Cool, thanks for the tips. I haven't tried a vertical auger yet. The yields look good, low foam. My 8003 is still rocking so no need to replace. I'm going to ask around and see if any of my friends have one I can use for my own juice off! Keep spreading the good word about raw foods!
if you put a good edible oil on the auger first the squeak from the wheatgrass will go away and also the centrifical juicers fast motion kills alot of the enzymes in the juicse so the auger style juice is the best and I just bought a upright auger style juicer by Hurom and it is fantastic.
@Shelldall Thank you for tip about using edible oil. The squeak is only there when I put in a bunch of wheatgrass. If I feed small amounts it doesn't do it. But of course, that takes more time.
I just ordered an Omega 8003 today, had to choose between the Omega and a Champion,,after reading and seeing the Omega 8003 in action I decided to go with the Omega 8003 over the Champion because it readily juices wheat grass without having to buy any other attachments,, the wheat grass attachment for the Champion is $75.00 plus shipping,OOuch,,, I can buy alot of carrots for that,,,caint wait till it gets here. ;-)
@GALAXYTECH69 Fantastic! I've had my 8003 for years now and it still rocks! Only problem I've had was with the switch, it would only work in reverse. Contacted the company and the tech walked me through the fix. It took 10 minutes and was free. That was maybe 4 years ago, no problems since. After you've had a chance to use if for awhile let me know how you like it. Wishing you great health!
@rickgut2004 I hope you enjoy your 8005! You can use either end of the plunger. The thinner end works better with wheatgrass, as it doesn't get stuck to the sides of the feed chute. My kids use the other end when making fruit sorbets. Wishing you great health!
This is retarted.. you are going to spend 5 times the time making juice in this thing with your "echnique of moving the catch tray around and using that stick to ram food down a tube that I could barely fit my thumb into. My Braun juicer may not be as efficient or quiet, but its 3 times cheaper and decimates everything but wheatgrass in a nanosecond.
Masticating juicers are too time consuming. I make 5 cups of juice in 3 minutes with my centrifugal juicer. They do make a shitload of noise though but that don't bother me too much because I only have it on for 1-5 minutes depending on how much juice I make.
@LogicNYC you can't do wheatgrass though, plus i believe you lose many of the live enzymes. the froth on your juice is oxidisation damage, you don't get that with a masticating juicer
Great video i own the omega juicer and make fresh juice every morning. I usually juice spinach, celery and carrots. If you don't like the taste of weedgrass or celery squeeze a lemon or lime and add it to your juice. I use the left over carrots, spinach, and celery to make veggie patties mixed with soaked soy beans (which you can run through the omega juicer). Plus you also make hummus, pasta, and all kinds of stuff with this juicer.
Well i clogged mine up when i tried to run pulp alone, so id suggest to alternate pulp with produce to avoid clogging. As for chopping into smaller pieces before juicing - i had no problems juicing carrots without cutting them into smaller pieces. Juice yield wont be a problem if you wont push as hard as you can to force auger to cut as big pieces of produce as possible. So if you apply moderate force youll get excellent results, no reason to exaggerate here on this matter ;)
Centrifugal juicers are easier to use , clean , and faster than these where you have to chop everything into small pieces . If you want to do wheat grass , buy the little hand crank system it is more effecient than ANY masticating juicer and costs under 50 bucks ! Masticating juicers are best for garbage dumps , kidding , some people make them work .
This Juicer is not $2000, the Norwalk is, norwalk is the best if you want to make a full time job out of it. Or you can go for the next best things, this is a very, very good start.
If you cant get enough juice out of the pulp, then put it back in to the machine and it will re-work it. By the way notice how he is using the plunger the wrong way round, I would not advise this. Great machine if used often could add 5 years to life. Fact. Peace
Thanks for the comments. After posting many people said to put the juice through again, as you have and it comes out almost dry. Definitely better than wringing it out by hand. FYI, the plunger is upside down because the wheat grass sticks to it when I use the fat end. When my kids juice fruit they use the fat end. Peace.
This Juicer is just horrible! And here are the reasons: By just watching this video demonstration, you can see how much of the produce is actually going to waste. It is obvious that the pulp is extremely damp. Go ahead and guess what is going to happen to all the liquid that is still in the pulp. It will go straight into the trash! This is the reason why the Norwalk Juicer is truly the only REAL resolution. The Norwalk is indeed the best POSSIBLE Juicer!
Ok, here you go. I'm gonna give you the response that will PROVE that YOU are actually the m0r0n. Why is it that I see people EVERY SINGLE DAY that live in 'section-8' housing & live off food-stamps, and those same exact people are driving $40,000+ cars that are upgraded with $5,000+ rims????? Can you explain that????? People are willing to spend THOUSANDS on stupid meaningless shit, but when it comes to protecting their health, they PRETEND they have no money!!
I completely agree with you, except for that part telling that its going to prove me being m0ron.The thing is,not everyone drives 40k cars with 5k rims, vast majority of this planets population cant even afford to buy decent food to start with. As for people like me - i dont live in US and A so couldnt care less for Norwalk, since i cant afford it, 2K+ for juicer, no way. So id rather get one for 200 bucks and dont loose out much. I suppose VAST majority of those into juicing simply cant afford1.
I tried the suggestion of others to put the pulp through a second time and it comes out nearly dry. Maybe not as dry as from a Norwalk but I'll save my $1,800 and put it towards veggies. At best the Norwalk might squeeze 10% more juice. We're talking at absolute most saving $.50 per day, $180 per year, or a ten year pay back. The Norwalk is great but the payoff is too long for me.
If you want to spend the extra $1,800 on veggies, and run them through the Omega juicer, or centrifugal juicers, then you will throw out about $800 worth of veggies in the trash due to the extremely damp pulp. You're wrong about running them through a second time. I've done that, and it causes HIGH FRICTION and starts steaming!!! And only a few DROPS end up coming out anyway!
I had a centrifugal juicer for few years, which I got for 20 $s at Odd Jobs (unfortunately they closed the store soon after) and it would give me just about the same amount of juice or more if I put so much stuff in it. Also, the size, the exterior, the time, the process is much more pleasing. The pulp with this omega juicer comes out too juicy. I am not sure cleaning it in that sink is the best way to do it too -- lots of bacteria.
My experience with centrifugal juicers: extremely noisy, incapable of juicing wheat grass, mediocre for veggies, pretty good for fruit. Regarding the bacteria comment, I'm baffled. Most people I know wash their dishes in a sink.
@smyrnachiropractor My experience is the opposite of sopka's. I had a LaLane centrifugal juicer that was very inefficient (the waste was always very wet with juice), noisy, and VERY difficult to clean. It was a boat anchor. We gave it to a charity.
I recently got one of the 8003s and life is great. Highly recommended.
@sopka1985 -Well then your machine must be the outlier out of all the various juicers on the market. It is common knowledge that masticating juicers not only provide a higher yield of juice, nutrients and enzymes, but they also don't heat the juice like centrifugal ones. In addition, at a a cost of $20, I'm curious if your centrifugal juicers still works. What's your warranty? Omega offers at a minumum a 10 year warranty on their products--They are built to last.
I have the Omega 8003 and love it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality juicer whether they intend to juice wheatgrass or not. I also use it to make nut butters, mix veggies, nuts & seeds into meatless 'meatloaves'. It can also be used for many other meal prep procedures. Thanks for a great video!
I have the chrome version of the Omega juicer and juice 2-3 oz. of wheatgrass a day. I just run the pulp through the unit again. BTW, you're using the plunger upside down.
Thanks, I'll try running the pulp though again. I prefer using the small end of the plunger with wheatgrass, because the grass tends to stick to the sides of the chute. The wide end completely fills the feed chute and so allows no room to wiggle the sticking pieces free.
hmmm i just purchased a very similar juicer to this on the net, but having seen how long it took for you to make half a cups worth of juice i'm thinking... i wonder if i can cancel it :(
I understand your concern, as it doesn't look like much juice, but I wasn't trying to make a lot, as wheatgrass is quite concentrated. You wouldn't want to drink more than a shot glass. My family likes it diluted hence the cukes, celery, etc.
If I were making vegetable juice w/o wheatgrass, I would have made a lot more. It only takes a few additional minutes to juice a couple of cucumbers and celery.
It's less than 10 minutes to prep, juice and clean up, and well worth it.
I heard that melamine (material used to make the auger) is toxic, any thoughts?
Not concerned?
