  • hehe.. that's what my Irish friends learn me as the real Irish counting..

  • Thumbs up if Stan Collymore sent you!

  • LOL there are clouds in the sky! GIVE ME MY CAKE!

  • This ad depresses me!

  • HAHAHA FAIL. I forgot what that last sentence meant, but I got the rest of it. Failing Irish, here I come!

  • Bald guy looks like voldemort....just sayin

  • i wonder if there is a black leprechaun

  • @gor337 there's no leprechauns :/

  • @gor337 Phil Lynott's too tall for you?

    ; )

  • the bald guy looks like lord voldemort

  • AAARRLAND haha. Pity Calsberg tastes like piss when their ads are fucking brilliant

  • I have this on a hoodie :D

  • 0:34 Why was the woman on the left blurred out ? The others standing out was in better focus. It should be the other way around. Perhaps she changed her mind and didn't want to participate in the commercial?

  • A subtle comment on the fact that many Irish people leave school after many years learning Irish and end up with just a few sparse phrases, good add.

  • @urbanguerrilla64 that's very sad, it would be better if they speak perfect irish and end up with just a few sparse phrases of ENGLISH

  • @urbanguerrilla64 I will never forget 'An bhfuil cead agam dul go dtì an leithreas' in my life. Had to say it several times a day in primary school.

Apart from that, I'm still in school and I only remember a few sparse phrases. Take in to account I'm doing honours in the subject and you see how well taught it is.

  • can i go to the toilet lol

  • slí and bealach are "way". the actual road is called "bóthar". a cow is "bó". for example, down that road is the way...tá an bealach síos an bóthar sin.

  • Thats my kinda fear ;D

  • Best. Ad. Ever.

  • thumbs up if you think Vinny Moran, (the tall doofus with the blonde curly girly hair) is a ravin' Poooooofter!!

  • Are they realy speaking in irish when they talk with themself? I mean

COCK-A-MILISH is that realy in irish language?

  • @Voodoozeko

Yep, it literally translates to 'Sweet Cake', just 'Cake' really. Cáca Milis.

  • @Mattmeful Hehehe intresting!!!

  • @Voodoozeko Ya it's cáca milis: it means (sweet) cake

  • @neelers Why is he talking about cakes?

  • @TurtlesDoNotHaveFur Ah well, life goes on and laguages change! I'll be speaking lots of Irish (or as much as I can :P) in my next post, please check it out :)

  • I know this advert is funny and all, i loved it when it was firsst shown on the telly. Now I just think its bloody embarrassing =/. Many people complain about the Irish language during their school years, but a huge amount of people in later years will say that they wish they learned it. I have been to several Ghaeltachts at this stage and am now in my last yer of secondary school, and although I hate the way the language is taught, I really wish I could speak it fluently.

  • @saadle I'm the same, but you can still learn the language, but you can still learn the language. There's a few night-time courses teaching Irish around, plus you can rent a house or something in the gaeltacht and learn it from the locals. Hope is not lost! :) Plus even if it is an embarrassment, it's still hilarious :D

  • song?

  • Press this OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN 0:08

  • Can I go out to the toilet?

    And red dog (fox)

    I like sweet cake

    and Sharon Ní Bheoilain

    I've a jumper on me

    There's clouds in the sky

    Give me the sweet cake!

    Quiet, road, girl, milk

  • loool!

  • i swear i've learned more irish off this add than 12 years learnin it in school

  • love the way they all say 'Caca Milis' in unison ..

  • @MrPistolo22 It's quite hard to learn but I've been speaking it like a 2nd language for my whole life. A friend of mine speaks Irish, English and Spanish. In Ireland its quite usual to have 2 languages.

  • @zxclairebearyzx "usual" lol. Most can barely speak English, and Irish is minimal

  • @MrPistolo22 Irish? Yeah it is :L Its cumpolsory in every school to learn it and be able to speak it :L

  • red dog? can i go out to the toilet? i like cake? i have a jumper? the clouds are in the sky? this ad is so strange

  • Gotta love my Irish roots. Now I'm just a mut living in the US.

  • @famousamosguy Hey, you're an American living in one of the most powerful and influential countries in the world, be proud of that fact :D

  • best. ad. ever.

  • what are the other peoples accents in this commercial?

  • ciunis bothar cailin bainne XD

  • he he...intelligent comments

  • @Horan28

I'd accept "Red Dog". The more common Irish phrase for fox is "Sionnach" although Molloyzers isn't wrong either. Depends on the dialect. :)

  • @Horan28

despite what Ballyhook said your translation is 100% but your only fault is that its a little too literal.Madra Rua does,in direct tranlation, mean red dog but its actually means Fox.in the irish language there are two ways you can say Fox.Madra Rua or Sionnach.other than being too literal you are correct.

  • A madra rua is a fox you fools....

  • @dunleavym. Oh just piss off.. If you have nothing good to say about ireland. We dont want you here anyway

  • @six24 shame on you then

  • @horan28 actually the guy dancing at the end called the girl. A milk girl. Haha

  • @Ballyhook No he said 'Quiet. Road. Girl. Milk'

  • @reyndani i would have gone for milky girl as a translation lol

  • They should put subtitles up so we can understand the gibberish they were clearly saying. I speak zero Irish and I'm from Ireland.

  • This is the transalation:

    - Can i go to the toilet?

    - and red dog

    - I like cake

    - and Sharon Ni Bheolain

    - My jumper

    - Thers clouds in the sky

    - Give me the cake

    - Quiet, road, girl, milk

  • @gunnyhunny - dude, I've met people in the NETHERLANDS that didn't know about Ireland, but this video is a beer ad!!! What are you suggesting? The bar man says "where you from?" The customer says "Ireland" and the bar man says "never heard of it"!! That's some beer ad!!!

I was a bar man myself for 12 years and I met people from all over the world and everywhere was "a lovely place" whether I'd heard of it or not!!! And that was just me trying to get a few tips or welcome the customer!!

  • @gunnyhunny - it's a beer ad, not a documentary!!

  • actually he says "sharon ní bheoláin" she's the news reporter from RTÉ

  • what is the translations? im tring to learn the language i need help!

  • @16Canadian

''can i go to the toilet''

    ''and red dogs''

    ''I like cake''

    ''Sharin ni Beo day''

    ''i have a jumper''

    ''theres clouds in the sky''

    ''give me cake!''

sounds stupid, thats why the add is funny, cos he doesnt know any irish, hes just bullshitting

    ''i

  • "An bhfuil cead agam dul amach do dtí an leithreas?" Hahaha brilliant - takes me back to my school days again!

  • Quiet milky road girl!

  • @yoyo5678x cad é?

  • ciunas bothar cailin bainne

  • Am i allowed to go out to the toilet

    and a fox

    I like sweet cake

    and Sharon Ní Bheoilain

    theres a jumper on me

there are clouds in the sky

    give me the sweet cake

    quiet road, milk girl

  • @MrConnemara1991 The the last one is quiet cow, milk girl.

  • @1diarmuid

No its not. he says "cúinis bóthar, cailin báinne"..which in English is "quiet road, milk girl". if it was "quiet cow" he would have said "cúinis bó".

  • @MrConnemara1991and what is the meaning of bothar?

  • @1diarmuid road

  • @MrConnemara1991 Cow's way

  • @MrConnemara1991 bealach agus slí = road

  • @MrConnemara1991 Cúnas bothar, cáilín bainné :)))

  • @MrConnemara1991 this is the best youtube comment i have ever read

  • Am I allowed go to the toilet?

    And a red dog,

    I like sweet cake,

    And Sharon Ni Bheolain,

    I've a jumper on me,

    Clouds are in the sky,

    Give me sweet cake!

    A traditional Irish poem hehe

  • @HerrAirburst Madra rua = squirrel. Just sayin'.

  • @xxaoife No, that would be iora rua. Madra rua means red dog or fox really.

  • thumbs up if you think the bald guy is a rapist

  • @SanguineBullet667 Or a serial killer LOL

  • when i travelled to europe I used my irish accent, (roscommon area, my grandparents are from there) it worked, ive never actually been to ireland though, Im from the US but I want to go badly.

  • @magua4 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Christ.

  • @magua4 you idiot, if you have never been to Ireland how would you have an Irish accent!!!!

  • @magua4

sorry to disappoint but you don't have an irish accent if you're from the US. You can try all you want to copy your parents' or even your grandparents' accents but at the end of the day you pick up the accent of your environment from growing up more readily.

Also, travelling in Europe where the vast majority of people speak English as a second language? Yeah, they're not going to know the difference between accents. I could tell a frenchman that I'm german and they'd believe me!

  • For some more IRISH laughs, come check out THE WILLEM and PATTY SHOW!!!

  • Can anybody tell me what he says at the end....cailin bainne?? what!!?? lol xoxo

  • @justsmile2507 be quiet, a road, girl, milk

  • @justsmile2507 lol he says milk girl or girl milk

  • @justsmile2507 he say quite road girl milk...its not suppose to make sense!

  • This add is so hilarious, as an Irishman I have made up a poem to an English girl and she thought it was so beautiful when in fact it was absolute bollocks hahaha bless us and our sexy accent ;)

  • is maith liom caca milis freisin agus ni maith liom meiriceánaigh. is maith liom go dti an picturlann agus ag feachaint an "chick flick"

  • @immenseability u'd get about a b+ for that in the leaving cert, thing is 95% of irish people cudnt care less about our native language, it wont be spoken by the turn of the next century

  • @immenseability T.T Nuuuuuuuu! <--Ireland fan

But it sounds so pretttyyyyyy! Prettier than English or Vietnamese or Spanish, and DEFINITELY prettier than French (I don't know what the heck the rest of the world is thinking, praising French)

  • @Tuilelen Thats Irish people for ya we can make complete and utter shite of sentences sound romantic ;) hahaha

  • @Tuilelen if u are reffering to the fact that france knocked us out of the world cup with a cheating jhand ball, personally i cudnt giv a flying fuck about that either, oh yeah and ni maith liom meiriceánaigh, means i dont like americans lol!

  • @immenseability it does not surprise me you don't like Yanks becuase all the good stand up Irish left to come here. You just live to sign on each week and are bitter. The way the people back home treat Irish nationals returning to live and visit is disgusting. I would dream of going bak to Ireland becuase of ignorant people like you. I am glad my child born in Ireland wont ever have to witness such a group of pathetic wasters like you. March yourself down to da local, sit on yur thumb and spin

  • If Carlsberg did Barmen,

They'd probably be the freakiest barmen in the world.

  • If Carlsberg did nightclubs, they'd probably be the quietest nightclubs in the world.

  • @braggie1 Oh whatever! picky picky :P

  • I wish I could speak Irish. Could anyone tell me if it's one of those languages that can be learnt fluently without growing up with it? Or is it only to become fluent if you've been brought up in Irish speaking areas? Because it sounds real complex!

  • @yggdrasil89 yeah irish can be pretty hard to learn. im irish myself and been doing it in school for years now with little success. but i know ppl who have come here from other countries and picked it up in a short enough space of time. like any language it varies from person to person

  • @Shane21111990 That's because it's taught like shit. It needs to be taught like French or German, and to cut out the shitty poetry until LC at least. Rugadh le Gaeilge mé, is táimse in ann í a úsáid ar nós mo chéad theanga le Béarla. Is fiú í.

  • @yggdrasil89 its actaully easy but ive knon it all my life seeing i am irsh you'll get the hand of it

  • hahaha!!

  • chuaigh me go di an siopa agus cheannaigh me duff beer

  • most ppl in Ireland aren't interested in Irish, they're too lazy

  • @dimgwalltameiben fuck you, the only reason we dont speak it is because the fucking english came and fucked us up

  • @airsofter1198 That shows the difference between you and me- Welsh was oppressed too but and this served as an INCENTIVE to me to learn it speak use it & teach it my children as an expression of my passion belief & commitment. Whereas you regard the past oppression of Irish as a ready-made excuse excuse not to bother to do any of the above. SO FUCK YOU!

  • @dimgwalltameiben ok dude ok i get it but i just wonder how long it took you to right that comment out

  • Comment removed

  • @braggie1 being honest...as far as i can tell everyone here hates or doesnt like irish!this ad just shows that even after bein forcefed irish for 13 years of school hardly anyone can actually speak it!

  • @PartyGirlDNM actaully nearly all of ireland can speak it

  • @XXxvampiregirlx they just pretend they can!lunderstand a bit but mostly people dnt have a clue unless theyre near a gaeltacht area

  • rofl it's like I was when I had an Irish oral exam, screwed up totally lol

    complete gibberish :D

  • This ad is mainly for people who know Irish alri? The joke is he's doin somethin Irish but he has no idea what the fuck he's sayin! Things like "red dog", "cake", "can I please go to the toilet" and at the end he jut says to ya one "queit girl road milk" it's pretty funny if ya understand the language

  • irish is the most jibberish sounding language ive ever heard.

  • @LandoftheShanks that's cause he's speaking jibberish....some of the things he said there was "i like cake, i am wearing a jumper, can i go out to the bathroom? there are clouds in the sky, give me the cake and milk-girl" he's hardly fluent ;-)

  • this is why it is easy being cool abroad if you are irish.

  • he knows more irish then i do lol

  • hahahah! He's speaking a load of jibberish! They all think he is a poet of sorts!

  • That's the quietest nightclub in the world.

  • @xtremlyrandomgirl

Me too! It's the best :)

  • yeeah , madra means dog and rua means red hair colour .. so basically it means red dog , which is a fox (:

  • Yeah I saw it written that maidrín rua is one way of saying fox and also sionnach is another. And listening to it I think he says madra yes. So I guess maidrín rua mean little fox and madra rua in fact just means fox. Oh well... that seems more clear now. :D
