You can tell this ride was made as a movie prop.

In real life, the ride would have cars that could seat more than one person, probably with a capacity of 2-8 people.

Plus, instead of the dramatic reveal of Larry, he'd most likely be fully revealed next to the ride, as maintenance to keep him going up and down would be costly.

Though that was pretty shoddy construction, with Terry hitting the Larry animatronic, causing it to malfunction like it did.
