  • If you had any Gabi stuff between 1993 and 2006 to upload that will be great, not everything. Thanks

  • MarshalGrover, could you upload Gabriela scenes from Sesame Street from 1993 to 2006?

  • @KatieCadet1 Yeah, 'cause that's not a burdening task at all.

  • "Hey, Oscar! You up?"

    "Get lost... "

"The baby came. It's a girl."

    "..."

    And what happened then

Well, on the Street, they all say

    That the Grouch's small heart

    Grew three sizes that day...

    <8,)

  • wow David really gained alot of weight, is this when he got sick?

  • In reading some of the comments of those surprised at how caring Oscar was during this. You must remember, Oscar ALWAYS had a soft spot for Maria (aka "Skinny"). So seeing her get married and have a baby was a big deal even for him. She was probably the closest friend he had on the street. She tolerated his grouchiness the most. He'd be "grouchy" for her and therefore would call to congratulate her.

  • That's Oscar: Half grouchy, half sweet

  • Weird fact: the baby shown is actually a boy, the son of sound effects director Dick Maitland.

  • For real... Give Oscar a break, he lives I a trash can...

  • poor oscar >.< don't be so mean to him

  • She's so cute!

  • After "ITS A GIRL!":

Muppets: Three honkers teach a newly-hatched baby Honker to honk

Cartoon: The 8 brothers Circus displays 8 elephants

Song: There's a bird on me

Cartoon: B is for boats, bouquet, baby, bonnet

  • After Oscar's grouchy:

Video: Ann Marie and Skeeter Rabit do dance routine

    Cartoon: Melvin the moving man

Muppets: Ernie tries to get baby Ernestine to say his name

Song: It's hip to be a square

  • Northern Calloway (David) left the show shortly after this episode and then passed away on Jan. 9, 1990 after a decade-long struggle with bipolar disorder. He apparently had a very troubled life. : (

  • @GeorgiaKev wow thats sad

  • @GeorgiaKev

That's too bad, for a great human character on Sesame Street along with the other guys; Louis, Gordon, Bob, and Mr. Hooper, when was still around. I really liked David, and wish the actor of him didn't die. Well, he and Jim Henson are in Heaven. Same with Mr. Hooper. I know Old School Sesame Street vol. 1 and 2 are on DVD, which are the first 8 seasons. I hope the episodes from the 80s make their way to DVD. Same with the remaining seasons of The Muppet Show; seasons 4 and 5.

  • Oscar made me cry in the end!

  • @escottish140 Yeah, but man.....what a grouch!

  • @GeorgiaKev: But a grouch you love.

  • @escottish140 Yeah, I guess so.

My son is going to be 5 years old next week. Seeing Luis' excitement and happiness at 4:00 reminded me of how I felt when I became a dad. : )

  • @GeorgiaKev: :D (Please give him my regards and birthday wishes!)

  • 4:44 - 4:52 Luis and Maria sure say "Honey" to each other a lot.

  • I haven't seen this one since the day it aired...I love how Oscar is being his normal grouchy self but calls the hospital to talk to Maria. How sweet.

  • Oscar the Grouch does care. Isn't that nice.

  • @Yasuda9000 Yeah I guess he dose have a heart.

  • I chose to rewatch this episode today because I'm having the same experience. Yesterday, a longtime family friend gave birth to a baby, and we're all thrilled. I almost feel like an uncle, since that whole family has been such a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

  • BITCH I LIVE IN A FUCKIN TRASHCAN!

  • Judging from the date, this was one of the last Sesame Streets I ever watched (because one of my friends told me that Sesame Street was for babies. I was six). I stopped watching the year this episode aired (which just happened to be a few months before Jim Henson's death).

I think I vaguely remember the hospital scenes. Maria sure is bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for having just given birth.

  • Gordon kinda scared he when he screamed at 1:55. & do you guys think that baby the nurse was carrying at 3:37 could've been Gabi or some other baby?

  • I like how Maria uses her Puerto Rican accent when she says "Gabriella" @ 6:01.

  • Does anyone have a sesame street clip of when gina was adopting her baby boy named marco?, So if anyone has that clip, or has an old sesame street clip of when susan and gordon was introducing the people to their adopted son, miles, so if anyone has those two clips, would you please upload them.

  • this is the real deal right here..all them upcomming kids television shows on channel 13 is 2 modern and 2 new school..theres nothing like a old classic sesami street

  • Oscar was sure grouchy in the first part of the video, but I think I could be grouchier still. He ruined it by congratulating Maria in the end. I'd rather hold a cat than a baby.

  • funny

  • 4:55 Dang, was that alarming!

  • Waddaya mean "kiss goodbye to David"?

  • This was his last appearance on the show.

  • Those of you who want to find out what really happened top Nothern Calloway should read the "Streetgang: The complete History Of Sesame Street" book! It will shock and surprise you to know what rally happened.

  • lol i cant belive what im seeing... oscar having a normal conversation with maria about the baby... priceless!

  • oh man.. in this clip u can tell that David's health was really getting worse...R.I.P David... may the good lord watch over u now.

  • Does anybody think that David's still emo about Maria being married to Luis? Please let me know.

  • I know what you mean. Maria and David were an item when they first appeared back in 72.

  • Indeed.

  • I hadn't known about Maria's baby because it happened after I stopped watching Sesame Street in the early 80s.

I love the whole thing about Oscar being happy, excited, and caring toward Maria and the baby. It's funny as hell that he breaks down his grouchiness and calls Maria on the phone at the end!

  • wow.....I have never seen a woman that perky after giving birth

  • I never saw this before--and it's fitting because it aired right before I was born! :) My mom was getting ready to have me, and they were excited because it was happening on Sesame street too. (I have an older sister who was 2 when this aired). Thanks for posting! I never thought I'd see a character on SS flip out like Gordon did.

  • That's one thing that really separates the old Sesame Streets from modern educational TV. Like with Gordon here, the characters didn't always act completely calm. Maria was especially good at expressing normal human emotions like frustration, I remember.

  • @italianman1992 It aired right before I was born too, and my 4 year old sister was watching it!! Difference is she persuaded my parents to name me after the baby. My full name is Gabriella Maria Rossetti! :)

  • Maria and David should got married

  • The writers probably would have pursued it if Northern Calloway was in good health. However, he was very ill with stomach cancer at the time, and as a result, the writers weren't sure whether or not Calloway would either die or resign and they would have to write David out. As a result, they paired Maria with Luis, and in hindsight, they made the right decision, because after this episode aired, Calloway left the series and he passed away a year later.

  • @pooka5472

I just read the book Street Gang, about the history of Sesame Street. He did not have stomach cancer, he was mentally ill and died of a seizure in a psych ward.

  • Death of Mr. Hooper, Wedding of Luiz and Maria, and the birth of Gabriella, the circle of life is complete. (But maybe not in that order. I'm not sure.)

  • Not quite. David left and Nothern died a year after.

  • That isn't even remotely funny. Stillbirth is not something you should make light of, and neither is suicide or murder. Grow up some, yeah?

  • I don't remember this episode..suprisingly. Thanks for posting it!

  • "It's nice to meet you Gabriella. Welcome to Sesame Street, AND the World!"

Pure sweetness moment! I find it cute and heartwarming to see the Muppets working with babies like that.

  • LOL, OMG.

  • "Does she cry a lot? Well I hope so" XD hahaha

    Oscar is a legend.

  • Oh boy!

  • her name is Gabby

  • That's her midlename!

  • HA HA HA! Always knew Oscar had a heat deep down!

  • hahaha, brought to you by BM

  • ive always wondered what's it like inside oscar's can.

    how does it look inside?...

  • he has an elephant...

  • Gordon, Bob, and David sure showed their grouchiness to a true grouch like Oscar. LOL!

  • i cant believe oscar called maria and was actually having a normal conversation with her. amazing!

  • Okay Big Bird trying to look under the blanket kinda weirds me out...lol.

  • As a kid, I actually thought Maria, Luis and the girl were actually a real family...I was actually shocked when I saw the credits in the future.

  • @RainaSkyeFear well, the baby was actress Sonia Manzano's real daughter, if that makes you feel any better :-)

  • Aww, I remember this! I was in kindergarten when it aired (good lawd, almost 20 years ago LOL).

What a pretty little baby. :)

  • The writers were slick with this one. "I could feel the baby coming out of me...." There's no stopping a kindergartener from asking mommy for the specifics. I guess they figured they would set up the discussion and the parents would take it from there. heh.

  • Actually, I've heard that Sonia Manzana(Maria herself) wrote this episode. So maybe it was her idea to say that.

  • Oscar cracks me up!!!

  • The end credits at night was a great part of the episode. Would love to see them if you could.

  • Where's the end credits & funding credits?

  • This video took over 15 minutes to save in WMM. I would've had to wait longer if there was more footage. I'll be happy to post them as seperate clips though.
