It actually states at the start of every episode that it is real footage, when some of the people that were in the episodes said to interviewers that they were payed to cast in the show. I don't know if you can get in trouble for giving false information like that, or not. I guess its kind of like pro wrestling.

He then explained why he wasn't able to go into detail because the stabbing basically had a legal standing because Joey and the film crew were "trespassing" on the boat... In other words, him and he crew were partially at fault and it could make them look bad. Good for you and 10 other people for 'like'ing things though. You'll always have that as a testament to your abilities...
