  • Simply the Best and The Original Robot/Mime Husband and Wife duo!-sAy WoRd!

  • no one has beaten them yet 2011

  • Awesome! I idolized Shields and Yarnell as a kid. Big influence on me as a pop lock/breakdancer.Thanks for posting!

  • Happy Birthday Robert.

  • I miss this show.

  • Truly amazing. I would love to be even as half as good as they are.

  • Get it on!

  • I grew up watching these amazing performers in the 1970's. They still inspire me today.

  • I got to see them live in Rexburg, ID!

  • @ALLOFMYLOVE4U sorta like your company, then

  • a tremendous loss for the robot walkers community

  • RIP Lorene Yarnell

  • RIP Lorene Yarnell -- dead @ 66

  • wow...I never seen anyone do the robot like a damn robot...it would only makes sense that the originator would be the only robot to never be beaten. I never seen it done any better. Robert shields is the man

  • Robert Shields is definately a person (that I can say) that is WAY ahead of his time as far as how he impersonated the robot. Looking at 03:30 , it is so freaky that he impersonated a robot being a person and a person being a robot. That's Shields for you, right there!

  • I remember seeing this growing up. This needs to be on DVD.

  • i watched this show growing up. all i can remember is that i had an incredible crush on Lorraine Yarnell. Big boobs

  • I grew up wathcing them on TV. They were awesome!

  • very wonderful!

  • i wanna see them do the nasty and watch her blow a circuit. lol

  • does anyone have a good dance video clip i can see of his wife wearing tap shoes dancing tap

  • holy shit!! some popping shit going on in here! awesome!

  • Wow, Id never heard of these guys. Amazing how much influence they obviously had on breakdancing, robotics and popping.

  • Go to bed dickhead.

  • I just got out of bed with ur mama. I must admit her blow jobs r improving...but not much.

  • They were definitely the architects of the Robot dance, and certainly Poplocking/popping. They deserve credit for sure. I used to watch Shields and Yarnell in the 70's as a kid, when the "Robot" was a wildly popular dance. It's about the only urban dance who's origins did not come from black youth in ALL of American history. It was just used as a dance form. Breaking is a combo of this, gymnastics, and African dance.

  • Ha i met Robert las night. He likes to brag alot! I live in Sedona, and so does he, apparently, who knew?

  • Probably because he's nobody now.

  • amazing.

  • FYI Robert shields taught Michael Jackson personally how to move.

  • Now, I can believe this since MJ used to do the hell out of the Robot as a teen.

  • Michael Jackson was hypnotized by Robert Shields robot ability and borrowed not only his movements but Robert Shields' military jackets and face makeup as well.

  • Sharonafox1, Idid't see this post when i commented on your other one, but i totally agree with this.

  • Woah, thats awesome, I'm only 15.. I heard about these guys coz Nathan Lane made a passing referance to these guys on the David Letterman show and I decided to look them up.. They are awesome.

  • I remember they made jokes about a "mime show" on I Love the 70s. If this was on the air, I'd watch it religiously. These people are incredibly talented. Shame about the incessant audience laughter though, it adds nothing.

  • Long before I got into street dancing, I had seen these two in San Francisco at Union Square. Was always blown away by how incredible they were(are). Love this stuff!!

  • theses two are the truth

  • have you ever tried to explain this show to someone who was not around in the 70s?

  • dang!! i remember this show when i was a kid. they do NOT make awesome shows like these anymore!!

I thought these two were the greatest!!

  • You're dating me - making me feel older than I am - sheesh. Classic TV - bring back the good ole days!

    *StormSpinner* in Texas

  • Wow, was this nearly 30 years ago!? Talk about ahead of their time. I believe a thread of their performance completed the tapistry of break dancing! This is as timeless as Numan, Kraftwerk, and Blue Man. Or perhaps, I am easily entertained. Regardless--I bet practice for each "skit" was 100 hours start to finish. I love you guys and thanks for the dedication.

  • gosh i remember them ..when i was a young boy i always had a crush on Shields

  • God, yeah, me too! He was really hot in an episode of Wonder Woman, too, where Yarnell played either his sister or ex-wife, as an environmental terrorist using ants as her weapon of choice. I guess I don't remember the plot details 'cause I was more focused on him.

  • A field of entertainment with few participants. Shields and Yarnell are two of the best. Always enjoyed them.

  • robert shields lives like 2 hours away from me i saw hmm this thursday

  • I ran into him yesterday in Tucson at the Street Fair. He does beautiful metal work now. Very talented guy,

  • ya he truly is

  • that is so good, it's scary.

  • Yo AZmermaid , i envy you . Where did you see them recently? And as for haters coming here to say negative things ... ignore them because they just want attention . Probably needs a group hug. Robert Sheilds is notheing short of Amazing and perfected his craft . How can anyone hate on him except an idiot?

  • I remember them as a kid. I was extremely fascinated with their robotic movements. Shields and Yarnell were so cool to watch. Loved them! Thanks for posting this amazing video!

  • have you tried to do the robot recently "unclealand"... its quite fun if you know how, and everybody watches when you it aswell

  • No... they are actually pretty amusing. If it's a talent that u hav that nobody does... why not exploit it? They hav a talent far beyond that of others in this world, and they are darn good at it.

  • they were doing the robot in the 70's you dumbass... and you would be surprised to how hard is it to do the robot this good people do it as a joke but then they realize how hard it is.

  • Don't like it? Then go somewhere else and stop raining on our parade ! I saw them last night in concert and they were AWESOME !!! If you don't like them, why are you here ?

  • your a jackass

  • They had it right, buddy. We ARE machines. And their talent is undeniable.

  • They're sooooooo cute. You must have a very strong stomach (and are easily impressed)>

  • I do have a stong stomach, been known to eat the odd bike chain. Who impresses you, I'm curious to know.

  • yeah what flairboys typed

  • i worshipped them in the 70s,thank you so much for this!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing!! and Robert was so damn HOT!!!

  • Damn, they're goooood!

  • also, It's not Michael Jackson circa 1977

  • Shields and Yarnell are the originals. You can learn more about them at www.robertshields.com. They were the first ones to do the Robot.

  • eah even says micheal jackson and the jackson 5 got influenced by these two right here

  • I know this is a late reply, but I think that Charles "Robot" Washington actually did the move before Yarnell & Shields. He did it around '69. Washington wasn't even the first to do it though; Other mimes did some version of "The Mechanical Man" before that. Y & S definitely helped popularize it though.

  • No, they're just acting, LOL

  • Very avant-garde stuff, eh? Circa 1977. And who is the second, blond female guest also sitting with Merv Griffin?

  • Joan Van Ark
