i'm guessing this was shot on the same night that the Monkey video was shot in their old rehearsal studio.I heard frank Black hated this place;had an open sewer that backed up when it rained.Echoes but I'm kinda into that that.Better than the sound you get off egg shell cartons or foam,that's for sure.

One of the greatest pixies songs of all time. This album, Bossanova has a darker underlying tone than most of their albums which makes this song truly unique. Every time I hear this song, my mind is sent weaving through melancholy thoughts and dreamscapes like a tossed paper plate. Cant wait to see them in September.

This song sounds a lot like Wave of Mutilation. At least, the chorus does. My bf agrees and he said he never heard it before I pointed it out. Go ahead, try it: "On a wave of mutilation" ("My Velouria") 2X. Fun, huh? Of course that's if you know the song (though most fans would). And there's this part near the end that even sounds like "way-ay-ay-ay-ave." And I noticed that at 2:02 & 2:03 it sounds like "Monkey Gone To Heaven." Just briefly. Anyone else hear these things? You know, I just don't understand the hype behind Kim D. She's a minimalist bass player, and I don't think any other bass player in music has ever gotten more overblown credit than she has. I think she's great in all, but it just irritates me that some idiots just come to hound her. Her vocals in the harmony were kinda poor in this studio version.

She admits she can't play bass. She did have a beautiful singing voice. She also refused to do the big hair, tight clothes glam-rock that was common when the Pixies were together. She was also very charismatic on stage. The loopy bass playing, combined with her cool stoner-chick attitude, and the startling contrast of her angel voice to Chuck's howling psycho voice, endeared her to a generation of alt rock fans.
