I don't know why everyone is saying this is a rip-off of Sailor Moon. This anime has its own plot and characters which is completely different from SM. I watched both as a child and enjoyed them so it's either you like it or hate it. Don't say that it's bad 'cause it's a rip-off because it's not! It's like you're saying all magical girl animes are rip-offs of SM. The idea isn't new anymore you know.
Sailormoon, Wedding Peach, and Pretty Cure prove something. Girls still want to look pretty and elegant even for battle :) so they prefer magical cosmetics to heavy weapons :D

Well ~ in a way this is kind of a rip off of sailor moon, considering that Sailor Moon was one of the first animes to have magical girls and such, that most of the magical girl transfomartions are just "based" (not ripped off) so this is just based on Sailor Moon, using the transformations from Sailor Moon as reference.

Actually, Sailor Moon is what made "Magical Girl" famous in the English Speaking world. Japan had seen quite a few series before that, although arguably without the Girl fighting Evil story line for the most part. A Japanese Classic, Little Meg the Witch Girl, was made in the 70's. There were magical girls with and without transformations, however, most of them were episodic adventure stories, not epics like Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon is the start of Magical Girl Teams, though.

Everything will be compared to a landmark/classic series. Mecha shows will always be compared to either Neon Genesis or Gundam Wing. Shonen shows will be compared to Dragon Ball Z. I find that the younger generation is saying that everything is a copy of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, so I guess that's the new Sailor Moon. I do agree that it is unfair. Because there are plenty of great series out there who will only be looked at as a "rip off" when they really aren't.

Sailor Moon is not one of the first magical girls lol. But she is the girl that made the series so incredibly popular, and gave it new twists. I think the "first" magical girl, or at least the girl that gave it that term was Sally the Witch.
Another magical girl anime you might like is Princess Tutu. But like Puella Magi Madoka Magica it's dark, so don't expect a happy cute ending lol. I've always hated T.M.M because the characters were so overgrown for their age, and just...So annoying. I know it has fans but I really hate that show lmao.

Mm. These transformations are so simple compared to the ones in newer shows like Heartcatch Precure. It shows how much the magical girl genre evolved. (Not to mention stuff like Madoka appearing too.)
Did any one knew that this anime was made by the same studio that made the Pokemon anime show? It was a cool that olm inc made a magical girl anime that is just like the more famous Sailor Moon anime.
...They take on similar poses to sailor moon. The first looks like sailor moon's pose the second looks like mercury, and the third looks like jupiter. The poses are similar. Why do they have wedding dresses? They look like they're only 14 wtf?
One thing I never got about Wedding Peach is WHY do they transform into wedding dresses first? I mean wouldn't they be too awkward to fight in? I know it is the name of the anime/manga but still, given they transform into better fighting outfits later on it just seems like the whole wedding dress thing seems a tad odd.

@anelrosas It may not be the same as Sailormoon in terms of Storyline, but it's pretty much the same theme and same way of transforming. And there are a lot of shows that copy that same trope from Sailormoon.
It's definitely not like comparing Pokemon to Yugioh. Those are two completely different things, and have no similarities at all. Other than they both have monsters, which is nothing new.
Yeah, it looks like this show is a copy of Sailor Moon ( i haven't watched the show, so i'm not judging or critizicing this one ) but in theory every show that has Girls with powers, as superheroes are a copy of Sailor Moon. Thing is, when watching this transformation, the first thing that popped into my mind was "sailor moon", I'm sure others experienced something similar. It's only natural to compare them, it goes nearly subconsciously if you are familiar with one of the shows. I really couldn't think of anything other that "yeah, that looks EXACTLY like that sailor soldier's transformation"
Yeah, you would. Unless you're blind, in which case you wouldn't have watched either show anyway. What's not to compare? Even the love story between Momoko and that one guy goes almost exactly like Usagi and Mamoru's.
I can't help but lol how every single Wedding Peach video has some debate about it and Sailor Moon.
Here's the thing, people. Sailor Moon was not the first mahou shoujo (magical girl) series, that's true. It did however revolutionize the genre and set the standards of what a mahou shoujo series is like today. Before Sailor Moon, pretty much all mahou shoujo series were about girls getting magic to do things they want. So yes, Sailor Moon is sort of the mother of all magical girl anime.

I honestly think people should consider Sailor Moon as the core concept of making up your own "magical girl" type of story. I'm not saying they should completely clone Sailor Moon literally, but they can make a similar story to it, but with some different things.

@skyegirlK Apparently the transformations don't happen in real-time. Some future episode (I forgot which) they simply turned into their final transformation while they were running. No transformation sequence involved.

However, what I was saying on my other account is that Sailor Moon is the very first magical girl manga/anime to incorporate the Super Sentai genre; that is a GROUP of young schoolgirls who are able to transform and fight evil as a TEAM instead of one magical girl who transforms and fights evil or a group of girls who transform but DON'T fight evil. Check out Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger...Naoko Takeuchi was inspired by it, to create a team of girls.
Their transformation lines are in English, as it was in SailorMoon for example. They say ''wedding beautiful/graceful/attractive flower'' to change into the gowns and then ''angel amour peach/ angel precious lily/ angel courage daisy''... So most of it indeed isn't Japanese. But it really IS the original Japanese version of a real Japanese anime.

I think this was actually animated by the same company/designed by the same guy as Sailor Moon, well based upon the original artists drawing and then converted to a medium more friendly for anime!

Another magical girl anime you might like is Princess Tutu. But like Puella Magi Madoka Magica it's dark, so don't expect a happy cute ending lol. I've always hated T.M.M because the characters were so overgrown for their age, and just...So annoying. I know it has fans but I really hate that show lmao.

@anelrosas No, you didn't say S.M inspiried other magical girls, so I said it for you. The American dub is truly awful in most people's opinions, have you seen the original? And did you know they're re-selling the manga starting this September and keeping all the original names, and non-flipped artwork?
Personally I'm okay with Wedding PEach but Tokyo Mew Mew is HORRIBLE. Just...Ugh. An amazing magical girls series is Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Only came out this year and already super popular.

Mm. These transformations are so simple compared to the ones in newer shows like Heartcatch Precure. It shows how much the magical girl genre evolved. (Not to mention stuff like Madoka appearing too.)

I love Wedding Peach. I have a DVD of it. Complete episodes. The ending was so so good. But I lost the DVD. I can't find it. But I remember this:
Yuri is Lily
Hinagiku is Daisy
Momoko is Peach
Scarlet is Salvia
And the attacks I only remembered is lily's attack. Saint Lip Liner.

One thing I never got about Wedding Peach is WHY do they transform into wedding dresses first? I mean wouldn't they be too awkward to fight in? I know it is the name of the anime/manga but still, given they transform into better fighting outfits later on it just seems like the whole wedding dress thing seems a tad odd.

@anelrosas It may not be the same as Sailormoon in terms of Storyline, but it's pretty much the same theme and same way of transforming. And there are a lot of shows that copy that same trope from Sailormoon.
It's definitely not like comparing Pokemon to Yugioh. Those are two completely different things, and have no similarities at all. Other than they both have monsters, which is nothing new.

Yeah, it looks like this show is a copy of Sailor Moon ( i haven't watched the show, so i'm not judging or critizicing this one ) but in theory every show that has Girls with powers, as superheroes are a copy of Sailor Moon. That still doesnt make sense, why people should hate the show without watching it.

Thing is, when watching this transformation, the first thing that popped into my mind was "sailor moon", I'm sure others experienced something similar. It's only natural to compare them, it goes nearly subconsciously if you are familiar with one of the shows. I really couldn't think of anything other that "yeah, that looks EXACTLY like that sailor soldier's transformation"

I can't help but lol how every single Wedding Peach video has some debate about it and Sailor Moon.
Here's the thing, people. Sailor Moon was not the first mahou shoujo (magical girl) series, that's true. It did however revolutionize the genre and set the standards of what a mahou shoujo series is like today. Before Sailor Moon, pretty much all mahou shoujo series were about girls getting magic to do things they want. So yes, Sailor Moon is sort of the mother of all magical girl anime.

I think I should watch this anime. I read the manga's a bit but I think it would be easier to watch it looks cute. Plus you got to love the wedding dresses.

I honestly think people should consider Sailor Moon as the core concept of making up your own "magical girl" type of story. I'm not saying they should completely clone Sailor Moon literally, but they can make a similar story to it, but with some different things.

its getting really old that everytime i wanna watch a good vid about a Magical Girl Anime, its swarmed with stupid comments like 'OMG THEY COPY SAILOR MOON I ONLY WATCH THIS TO TROLL LALALA!!' @skyegirlK Apparently the transformations don't happen in real-time. Some future episode (I forgot which) they simply turned into their final transformation while they were running. No transformation sequence involved.

However, what I was saying on my other account is that Sailor Moon is the very first magical girl manga/anime to incorporate the Super Sentai genre; that is a GROUP of young schoolgirls who are able to transform and fight evil as a TEAM instead of one magical girl who transforms and fights evil or a group of girls who transform but DON'T fight evil. Check out Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger...Naoko Takeuchi was inspired by it, to create a team of girls.

Their transformation lines are in English, as it was in SailorMoon for example. They say ''wedding beautiful/graceful/attractive flower'' to change into the gowns and then ''angel amour peach/ angel precious lily/ angel courage daisy''... So most of it indeed isn't Japanese. But it really IS the original Japanese version of a real Japanese anime.

this just makes me wish they made more seasons of sailor moon! even the way they speak when they transform sounds like sailor moon! i used to watch SM as a kid and now i got back into it, ive seen every episode and movie and im sad that there isnt anymore! but this just doesnt seem like it will compare to it..

I think this was actually animated by the same company/designed by the same guy as Sailor Moon, well based upon the original artists drawing and then converted to a medium more friendly for anime!
