what i used at the time was Draug. Level 15 General (leveled from 10 knight) and got him at 47-50 Health, and (syph robe included) and kept Gnarph away. at first i was like OH SH--- oh cool! he survived all of it!

Nah, I used Wrys(Bishop) to keep Gharnef away.

Lena is the best and quote the BEST healer in the game lv her up to 20 then rank her up and she can hold on her on in battles against horsemans and spellcasters.

To recruit Maria you must have her freed from the prison and then let Marth talk to her, also will lead to further characters to get

I don't know if it's a glitch, but my Merric once did damage to Gharnef in the chapter where you can get Falchion while using an Elfire spell.

Facts:

- It was a dummy Gharnef.

- Merric was in possesion of Starlight.

- Merric was attacked by Gharnef, so didn't attack first.

- I wasn't able to recreate it.

@DBinitiate thats strange because even if it says you wont hurt him a fake gharnef will be hurt reguardless only the real one cant be hurt by normal weapons i use my wolf to kill fake gharnefs cause he can 1 - 2 hit kill him

I was going for Gaiden. I was at 13 units, so they were like, "Hey, let's give you generic people with drug-like names! :D" And I was all "DIE DRUG-PEOPLE!" (Penvo (Pepto), Hepto (Heroine) and Xestu (Not really a drug, but, Xatu.) so I just deflected Gharnef with them and placed Ogma (Sorcerer, I made him a dark mage earlier, he's great.) behind Gharnef so thief can't be stealin' and mages can't be spawnin'. It was awesome. And this is a long post D:.

Well, in my playthroughs of Shadow Dragon, I always used Lena. I used her as a magic shield against Gharnef. Hopeless guy always got zero on Lena, but then Lena got zero on him too. -_-

If you think NM Garnef is dangerous(and he is, BTW), he is an absolute bitch in H5. He has 26 Atk and 21 AS IIRC. While you could tank him(I used Rena w/ a pure water), it's best if you run(or warp dummies into the treasure room)

Now that I'm on it, C15 in general is a masochistic hellhole on H5. The map is full of 26 Atk Bolganone mages that literally 2HKO everybody not named Lena, and there are 4 dragon knights with forged javs that will 2-3RKO anybody not named Draug(or any high Def general, actually).

Word of advice, warp skip.

kk i used lena b/c in my experience, she is better, i dumped maria after getting minerva, whom i only kept for a few cutscenes. i usually use a guide on who to keep, except in the case of draug, who i keep anyway hehe

For some reason...my Wrys one time didn't suck, so I used him to KO Gharnef in one turn...even though he took like...4 damage...

Of course, he wasn't lv. 5, he was level 6..and it was during the level you fight him AFTER Starlight is obtained

in terms of resistance, ive found that lena's resistance > anyone else's resistance, but i never used maria, so i cant really say that she has higher resistance

k ty i didnt no how to take this guy but btw my marth is i thnk 23 wat i did was i thnk on chapter 13 or 12 the arena i kept makng marth battle if he got hit and damaged i stopped healed him waited for next turn kept doing thast made like 20k and kept lvling him its the one where the ballistas come but they stay put so i wiped out nearby allies put all ym ppl in the area close off the entrance wth draug and waited no one atked me so i was happy

What I did for this chapter was that I put Lena(a Lv7 Bishop at the time) in Gharnef's attack range. He used Imhullu, and I took nothing from it. No pure waters used or anything. I knew that since Lena(Rena) had 22 Resistance in Normal mode(again, at the time) and Gharnef had 21 Atk, she would take no damage.

I went into this chapter thinking Marth would take Gharnef out with little trouble. His defense was awful, and Marth had 17 strength for me. I go to attack him and find that I will do no damage...

I did the same thing as you. I put Maria in front of Gharnef to tank him until he left.

i tick'd out my ogma he has like 52 hp (hero) class 18 str 1 mage 19 skill 21 speed 14 luck 12 defence 3 res lvl 11 hero with armorslayer steel axe hammer and hand axe for his weps and (A) for swords and (C) for axes/hammers
