  • Podrian subtitular y/o traducir para los q no hablamos ingles. Aunque sean los subtitulos en ingles!

  • Joan Rivers would know all about "as you get older you shribble"

    I love Bette

  • oh god the people in the press covering davis for the newman's award speech seem like total assholes

  • my cousin Shannon, rest her beautiful sole, loved bette davis! I fell in love with her by watching a simple little movie of hers when i was in 8th grade, I miss my cousin every day. But when i listen to bette davis eyes or watch something about bette davis i feel like a part of her is in the room watching/listening with me <3

  • Bette Davis, we love you.

  • in the fast-paced live tv of the oscars, bette was still in her heyday and indeed got off-cue.

  • "Yes indeed, it said that."

  • 1:38 her beautiful smile is still the same!

  • I consider Bette Davis to be the greatest film actress of all time. I adore her!!

  • awww i love them both

  • It must have been a thrill to be in the same room with Bette Davis...

  • Betty Davies grew old gracefully and without plastic surgery, which is more than can be said for Joan Rivers.

  • @jowett467 there is no need to judge Joan or to compare the two - Joan gave Bette the respect she deserves and was obviously honored to interview her. I think her sense of humor makes her graceful. People shouldn’t be judged for having plastic surgery, it’s a personal decision.

  • "a recovery from a VASECTOMY"? Joan gets stupid!

  • @DoktorAstrov *mastectomy

  • A friend of mine who died last year used to hang at the beach in Gloucester MA in the 1950's.

    .

He always saw this woman with a big hat and sunglasses walking, and never spoke. But one day a friend said, "That is Bette Davis, did you know?"

    .

He never knew it was Bette. She would drive from Lowell MA her home town, when she came east. Bette always loved Gloucester MA and the ocean.

    .

So there's a cool story. No one bothered her, she enjoyed herself there..

  • damn she was a supre actess I love her love her love her one of my best movies was the little foxes she act her azz of in that movie

  • This truly brings tears to my eyes.....I absolutely adore and agonizingly miss Bette. HER LEGENDARY FIRE AND MUSIC WILL LIVE FOREVER!

  • FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS! IT'S GONNA BE A BUMPY NIGHT!

  • 0.o I forgot Joan used to actually look like that.

  • @astucity Yeah Joan was actually good looking with pretty hair!

  • god I miss her. She didn't let anybody get away with crap. Strong and sharp right to the end. So glad you were here Ms Davisxx

  • Mr Pacetta who bashed Bette should've considered himself lucky to have see, The greatest actress, Bette Davis, speaking to her "peers". I suppose it is an understatement, because she was "Peerless". The Academy lost their Greatest star on 10/06/89. I had already lost my respect for the Academy, when I read Judy Garland lost her 1954 A.A. to Grace Kelly. It was all Political to "punish" Garland her. MGM treated This Great Legend so shabbily for 15yrs. PPl still say she was robbed of her Oscar.

  • Today I just ordered the Hardcopy of "This N That" through Amazon.com. I cannot wait until I read it. Joan Rivers showed her great respect and was great at interviewing guests especially Legends. I remember when this was aired on The new FOX network. She would have been perfect to replace Johnny Carson instead of Jay Leno, Gary Shandling or Conan O'Brien. Joan River's Show got a lot of hype and in one season got canceled. The Same went for The Judy Garland Show, The network execs were idiots.

  • What you say is interesting. But women it seems don't do late night talk.

  • ...yep, she even mentions Fox in this.

  • Nice!...but isn't this from Rivers' Fox show? (not The Tonight Show)

  • pure class

Betty should have been head of NI Water.. please google if u do not understand!

  • @DrMoorehen if not NI water then Scottish water who got 120.000 bottles over to help out the Northern Irish.

  • @seonidh Yes I quite agree - and very kind of Scotish Water too!!! But then again it's maybe guilt as the CEO IS a Scotsman.... altho ...whats that on the wire??? He has just resigned - Im afraid they are all a bunch of jerks - Betty would have flushed the lot out!!!!!!!

    Cheers

  • @DrMoorehen damn was he, what a bunch of ass holes NI water are to cut peoples water off accident or not have a back-up plan. Bette would have roasted them all alive and with her attitude and no nonsense talk even Ian Paisley as a hard liner would have ran out of the room. Jumped out of the window even lol

  • This woman will ALWAYS be my girl!!!!!

  • I love how Joan Rivers, of all people, acts respectful and delightful and simmers down a bit in front of the great Bette Davis, she was pleasant, kind of shocked me haha lol, Bette Davis is charming...this woman will live forever...God Bless her =)

  • @MissGarland18 she has respect for the woman and also knew that whatever joan could say to the great Bette she could match her word for word.

  • @seonidh...And indeed she could and did!! =)

  • @MissGarland18 I respect anyone who could put Joan Rivers in her place, I adore Joan Rivers humour too but Bette was one of those people Joan held in high regard. =)

  • @seonidh...And with good reason too...Bette was, AND IS a legend, that is why she is still adorned even today by so many, I just wish there were more like her, I suppose that is why I love her so much, there hardly is anyone like her these days, even though she's gone I still have a resepct for her that I don't carry for many =)

  • @MissGarland18 I agree 100% she was feisty. precocious, not scared to open her mouth and vent a well thought answer in these tread so softly pc times we all live in. She was fair as well and didnt suffer fools or bad people gladly and respected good manners. She also had more class and sophistication in her little finger than most of the Hollywood stars of today. I commented on another vid that she had virtue and someone commented on her two abortions. I replied she was a modern woman.

  • @seonidh...And AMEN to that!!! You've summed up my feelings for her in a very delightfully deliberate way and for that, I thank you. And as for her being a modern woman, she was ahead of her time in MANY aspects, and there will never be another who could TRY to come close...Very well said...=)

  • @MissGarland18 the pleasure was all mine, its nice to chat to a true Bette Davies fan. Glad to make you smile at the great never forgotten Bette.

  • @seonidh...Same to you, it's always great to chat with someone who can relate to the Bette Davis appreciation. And yes, she will never be forgotten as long as folks like us are around to keep her zestful energy and talent alive...=)

  • @seonidh Bette Davis was a Larger than Life Living Legend @ the time. Even though she was about 79 at the time when she did this show, she was always very honest, truthful & upfront no matter who she spoke to. No matter if she was 29 or 79, she stood up for herself, her career & knew she deserved respect. Bette knew she was a Great Star & made no bones about it. She & Judy Garland always knew they had the talent to back up their personalities & never apologized for their lives or career chocies.

  • Every remark Bette Davis made in this clip was like the sting of a wasp!

And I adore her a lot!

  • She was the BEST! All About Eve; Now, Voyager; Dangerous; Jezebel. They just don't make them like that anymore. I watched Now,Voyager tonight for the first time, and understand why Better loved the movie so much. She was vulnerable and overcame her maladies.

  • This was not The Tonight Show, it was from The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers on Fox, probably 1987.

  • Bette is a phenomenon, very very few actors int he world, with the exception of Meryl Streep, was able to create a multitude of personalities and have a stellar career and talent. Bravo from Russian fans.

  • Hehe. "I've always been like this. Are you insinuating that as you get older you shrivel?" I love her!

  • she is and will be the queen of the movies always......IF YOU AGREE WITH ME THAT SHE IS THE QUEEN OF HOLLYWOOD GIVE ME A THUMBS UP.

  • Indominable, powerful, took NO S##T!! GOD BLESS HER!.

  • Great interview

  • she looks really thin here

  • two of my favorite girls!!!!!!!!! but how old was bette here???? i mean im just really getting into ms davis

  • @dumbasaboxofhair she was exactly 98 years old here.

  • @mcqueen12345667

79 years old (if this is 1987), actually (:

    Since Bette died at 81.

  • @mcqueen12345667 she was born in 1908. She would have been 98 in 2006.

So when was this show filmed?

  • funny Joan says right off the bat "Fasten your safety belt it's going to be a bumpy night" and then says how she can recite every line from All About Eve by heart except that it's not "safety" belt it's "seat" belt

  • Love this woman.

"It was a loooovely evening." -Classic.

  • She was a MOVIE STAR. I love all of her movies. I have a signed headshot of hers wearing the dress from, 'All About Eve". She is a national treasure

  • I love love her iconic and loved the world over .

  • Im a teen and i love Bette Davis me and my sister love watching classic movies, this interview got me a little teary eyed because she was not in good health but she was soo full of life and had a great personality!,she is one of the best actresses hollywood has ever had!.R.I.P

  • 1986/87 is when Joan Rivers had her late night talk show. Great interview with a great Star

  • this ilk is almost gone.. so sad.

  • this is so interesting, when exactly was this interview?

  • @enigmaticnewboi 88 or early 89

  • Never before and never since has there been a star as powerful and great as Bette Davis. I have been a fan for many years. "Fasten your seatbelt, it's going to be a bumpy night" is a cult classic line if ever there was one. Bette, I miss you every day. Thanks for all you gave us!

  • @Bansheeeyes78 How about Meryl Streep?

  • love it!!for sure the biggest star that ever walked on Earth

  • She is my favourite actress. None of her films are a disappointment.

  • Bravo, I agree

  • @empressoffrance Wicked Stepmother....

  • @empressoffrance i agree, sit on the edge of the chair and dare to blink. lol

  • @empressoffrance I couldn't agree with you more! Bette Davis is the Best dramatic actress of all time. I have two favorites one is "Now, Voyager & All about eve" Ican watch her work and interviews all day long!!

  • I visited her grave site last weekend in Hollywood. It was just simply there. It made me kind of sad that there was no fanfare, no tribute to her legend, to her contribution. I felt like there should have been more of a shrine to her life. But it was simply lonely a grave site. Not befitting her legendary status. It made me very sad. But I was in awe to be so close to her physical remains.

  • what a lovely story

  • fasten your safety belt?!?! obviously not that much of a fan Joan!

  • @joestyle123 joan rivers is an idot.

  • She's so hysterical!!! I love Bette Davis!!

  • standing ovation that was really nice, she was such a GREAT actress !!!!!!

  • THANKS FOR THIS POSTING OF THIS VIDEO- i LOVE TO SEE THE LATE MS BETTE DAVIS SPIRT AND STRENGTH !

  • This is not "the tonight show" this is from Joan's late night talk show on FOX 1986

  • And she`s laughing all the way to the bank.......who gives a rats ass.

  • i really didn't ask for your opinion, i was stating mine.. so go crawl up her old crusty plastic ass.

  • They look related.

  • Adore Bette, despise Joan

  • -&+

  • Whoa...a pre-plastic surgery Joan Rivers....

  • she really knows what she wants!!!

Love that she's got such a personalety!!!!

  • Wonderful to see Bette Davis in such a candid light. I hope I have a fraction of her courage and backbone when/as/if I reach that age. Thanks for the post.

  • So amazing! thanks for posting...

  • did joan rivers say, " her recovery from a VASECTOMY and a stroke"? at :25-:27?
