Great size to slim down with, carrying less of a load and more snappy power is excellent, as well as having longer, more satisfying duration of use. The wonderful new size and extended potential makes this a wonderful computing genre for all.
I would love to have one for my kids this for my kids it is so convenient the battery life lasts for 9 hours so you can take it anywhere. They also have a lot of educational games so they are really awesome when it comes to kids.

One of the main reasons that I would get this Eee would definitely be the portability factor. You just cannot beat it and the quality of the netbook as a whole.
The battery life on this clutch. I can't wait to get one. This is a minor detail, but I love how none of the USB ports are stacked on top of each other. Its really hard to use a thumb drive and a wireless adapter at the same time when the ports are stacked because the wireless adapters are often thicker than the standard form factor of the expected thumbdrives. Its one of those little things thats not make-or-break, but is still a little annoying.
The size and battery life on this computer is amazing... the way I uses a computer in my daily life has changed DRASTICALLY since I got this computer a month ago!

I like the 9 hour battery life the best. I tend to use my notebook computers "on the go" and having ANY extra battery life will save me from having to "plug-in" to do my computing. And, as many already know, finding a power outlet can sometimes be a daunting task.
I find it actually sick that I prefer this mini notebook rather than the 1000H which is like 150$ cheaper, and this only because of the keyboard! Spare one for me, I'll have to sell my dog to get one... :(

my friend has this sony viao that is small and cool looking, but when i tried to type on that thing, i just couldnt do it adequately, because the damn keyboard is too small.
The keyboard on that thing is so large, it should be an ease on my hands and my eyes. I wont have a rough time trying to fish for the right keys hoping i wont hit the wrong one with a smaller keyboard.

Sweet - 9.5hrs battery would make it great for watching movies on my regular trips on the ferries here in BC. The HD would hold all of my music, and favourite videos.

I have one of the first 4G versions of the EeePC and the only draw back is the battery life. This would be an awesome product with the enhanced battery life.
The 9.5 hours is a bit exaggerated for my average usage, but the battery life is definitely great. But owning one, what I like best is that it goes *anywhere*. Desk, sofa, bed. It sits on the microwave while I'm cooking. It goes to a coffee shop, to the library, to even my notoriously slow doctor's office waiting room. Fits in a cute little tote bag instead of a huge ugly laptop bag. It's the first computer I've ever used that's genuinely totally portable, at home or away.
I love the Intel Atom N280 because it helps multitasking and I definitely need that while trying to start my own business. Its hard being a 21 year old entrepreneur but I think the Eee PC 1000HE would make it so much easier!
The compelling feature is the long life battery. What a nice change it will be to do some tasks while on a long flight from, say, the East Coast to Europe, not to mention that it won't take up so much of the scant space you get in airlines these days. If the airline is offering Wi-Fi in the cabin, so much the better.
even when I'm using it heavily (coding), I can get at least 6hrs.
two features I would like to see is the ability to hot-swap batteries (aka have like an internal power cap that keeps it alive for a minute or so while swapping it out).
second, a mini-pcie slot, perhaps a SSD/ram temp drive for the pagefile for ridiculous speed.
The battery life is incredible 9.5 hours! I have read the reviews and everyone raves about the extended battery life. I am looking for something for all of my traveling. I can be super productive while in the airport or in flight. I wont be looking for the nearest outlet.

I've got the new 1000HE and there's not much that can be said about it that hasn't already been said. It runs all the apps that I want it to without a hiccup (Word2007, iTunes, Rocketdock, window blinds!) I have only ONE complaint: I'm constantly writing notes, whether in class or church or wherever, and every time I go out with it someone is always asking me about it. Can you stop these people from asking me about it and just get them to buy one themselves? Thanks!
This is a great laptop, portable and will last for a long time with that 9.5hr battery life. This should help me in datalogging and tuning without being wired to the wall for my car.

The battery life, by far, is the best feature of this netbook! With 9.5 hours of power, I won't have to carry around that huge power adapter. Also, the price for this netbook is only $400!!!! The best bang for your buck, hands down.
What to start with? The Intel Atom N280 is awesome and makes high quality video playback very comfortable. The wireless N wifi card is the newest and most current wireless speed available. The Bluetooth 2.0 and webcam are both pluses that could always come in handy. And of course the 9 hour battery life and chiclet keyboard complete the most wellrounded netbook around!

I would love this competion to be available globally. The entire feature set of this netbook sounds great, hard to pick one stand-out feature. Like so many other posts the long battery life sounds awesome, my notebook lasts 3hrs.
I was waiting for this to finally be released, since when I first heard about it, I thought it pretty much fit my needs perfectly and would be a great replacement for my 4 year old HP laptop that's starting to fail. The small size, excellent battery life, new processor, and updated keyboard are all wonderful. One minor detail is that I would've preferred a SSD in place of the HDD, but I guess you can't have everything.
After owning a Dell Mini 9, it just does not live up to what it was meant to be. The keyboard layout is wonked as well as the hardware. The 1000HE has a perfect keyboard layout, most similar to full-sized keyboards. Since I do a lot of time typing, as I am constantly typing papers for school, the 1000HE is the best option for any needy netbook user. It even beats out all of the laptops in my opinion. Hey, laptops are meant to be portable, right?

I hope i can win this so I can get rid of my junky acer 5515, it is too big for my backpack, and this asus 1000HE would be more easier to fit in my backpack and it would last all day with the 9.5 hour battery. and easier to type with the chicklet keyboard, it has a 1.3 megapixel camera for nice resolution, 160 gb and a 1gb ddr2, mine has an 512 so im is the hole, and it has bluetooth, so you can connect to your phone.

Yeah most netbooks have a pretty terrible keyboard but this one looks great to type on! And of course, it's what a laptop should be...portable and INCREDIBLE battery life - 9 hours!

I have one of the first 4G versions of the EeePC and the only draw back is the battery life. This would be an awesome product with the enhanced battery life.

The 9.5 hours is a bit exaggerated for my average usage, but the battery life is definitely great. But owning one, what I like best is that it goes *anywhere*. Desk, sofa, bed. It sits on the microwave while I'm cooking. It goes to a coffee shop, to the library, to even my notoriously slow doctor's office waiting room. Fits in a cute little tote bag instead of a huge ugly laptop bag. It's the first computer I've ever used that's genuinely totally portable, at home or away.

I love the Intel Atom N280 because it helps multitasking and I definitely need that while trying to start my own business. Its hard being a 21 year old entrepreneur but I think the Eee PC 1000HE would make it so much easier!

This machine is an ideal student workstation. It's very portable and the battery life is mind blowing.
My favorite attribute of the machine is the fact that it's made by a green company. Asus recycles electronics for free.

The compelling feature is the long life battery. What a nice change it will be to do some tasks while on a long flight from, say, the East Coast to Europe, not to mention that it won't take up so much of the scant space you get in airlines these days. If the airline is offering Wi-Fi in the cabin, so much the better.

yea, battery life is the best.
even when I'm using it heavily (coding), I can get at least 6hrs.
two features I would like to see is the ability to hot-swap batteries (aka have like an internal power cap that keeps it alive for a minute or so while swapping it out).
second, a mini-pcie slot, perhaps a SSD/ram temp drive for the pagefile for ridiculous speed.

The battery life is incredible 9.5 hours! I have read the reviews and everyone raves about the extended battery life. I am looking for something for all of my traveling. I can be super productive while in the airport or in flight. I wont be looking for the nearest outlet.
The intel atom n280 and the chicklet keyboard make this a gotta have!

I've got the new 1000HE and there's not much that can be said about it that hasn't already been said. It runs all the apps that I want it to without a hiccup (Word2007, iTunes, Rocketdock, window blinds!) I have only ONE complaint: I'm constantly writing notes, whether in class or church or wherever, and every time I go out with it someone is always asking me about it. Can you stop these people from asking me about it and just get them to buy one themselves? Thanks!

This is a great laptop, portable and will last for a long time with that 9.5hr battery life. This should help me in datalogging and tuning without being wired to the wall for my car.

The battery life, by far, is the best feature of this netbook! With 9.5 hours of power, I won't have to carry around that huge power adapter. Also, the price for this netbook is only $400!!!! The best bang for your buck, hands down.

What to start with? The Intel Atom N280 is awesome and makes high quality video playback very comfortable. The wireless N wifi card is the newest and most current wireless speed available. The Bluetooth 2.0 and webcam are both pluses that could always come in handy. And of course the 9 hour battery life and chiclet keyboard complete the most wellrounded netbook around!

The 1000HE is one of the best EEE models made.
The chicklet style keyboard is a pleasure to type on.
The 9 hour rated battery life is incredible.
Bluetooth, Wifi for easy connectivity.

I was waiting for this to finally be released, since when I first heard about it, I thought it pretty much fit my needs perfectly and would be a great replacement for my 4 year old HP laptop that's starting to fail. The small size, excellent battery life, new processor, and updated keyboard are all wonderful. One minor detail is that I would've preferred a SSD in place of the HDD, but I guess you can't have everything.

After owning a Dell Mini 9, it just does not live up to what it was meant to be. The keyboard layout is wonked as well as the hardware. The 1000HE has a perfect keyboard layout, most similar to full-sized keyboards. Since I do a lot of time typing, as I am constantly typing papers for school, the 1000HE is the best option for any needy netbook user. It even beats out all of the laptops in my opinion. Hey, laptops are meant to be portable, right?

I hope i can win this so I can get rid of my junky acer 5515, it is too big for my backpack, and this asus 1000HE would be more easier to fit in my backpack and it would last all day with the 9.5 hour battery. and easier to type with the chicklet keyboard, it has a 1.3 megapixel camera for nice resolution, 160 gb and a 1gb ddr2, mine has an 512 so im is the hole, and it has bluetooth, so you can connect to your phone.
